Typically, yes. They are as scrutinized as one can be before they transfer from the agency they started at. Each department has its own OIG they have a designated number of investigators and one Inspector General. I wanted badly to go for OIG Investigator last year but I have a habit of saying things like “are you sure you are an attorney? Because you seem like a fucktard.” They told me to wait 5 years and try again.
I just don’t trust internal SIAs they are the Fed version of internal affairs. OIG will prosecute you as they are looking for criminal wrongdoing or criminal negligence.
