I am working out of town...6-7 days a week, 7 hours from home with no time off to go home.

Tuesday the Furnace goes Tango Uniform with a high for the day of 56. Luckily the girlfriend and her daughters are smart enough to turn on the fireplace and wear some warm PJs at night. I'll replace the HVAC (it's 18 years old) and just pay to have the AC connected and charged. Hopefully in the next month or two if I ever get home.

Wednesday the Garage door goes sideways after opening. Tech comes out and quotes $410 to get it working again. 5 hours later and jacks up the opener as well. 7pm and the GF has to be at work at 0200 . The company owner finally capitulates and replaces the opener and finishes repairs on the door for the original quote.

What next?

Hot water heater and all water lines replaced back in Jan/Feb so those are out.

Backed up/overflowing toilet because someone thought you had a surplus of toilet paper?

Oh, wait, that was somebody else here that had the extra paper and a pissed off GF. 😂😂

Wait...are we related? My HVAC is weak; but still somewhat works. Depending on which contractor, I need to stay the same tonnage or go up 0.5 tons. I agree with going up especially with thermal load from sun. Whilst my garage door opens, it does so begrudgingly with the remote (I have to get out of car and right by the unit...may as well push the button). Was supposed to have bid; but I guess nobody really wants the work because nobody will give a quote. One company even came by...no quote.

It ain't hard to install. Do it for yourself and buy more ammo with the savings.
The directions are written for a three year old. If that doesn't work...... YouTube.

We're in CO on vacation and my daughter calls last night from our home in TN and says the AC isn't working. She's supposed to do 3x12s starting today at a new job and my two mini-Aussies are there so she packs them up and takes them to her sigle room place with her dog. My wife and I sit down to dinner to talk about it and she chips a damn tooth on nothing. We're supposed to hit a trailhead in the next hour or so, waiting for #3....
