So the wife wants to call it quits. Yeah, the situation sucks, but the last time I checked a marriage still takes two people and I can't do it alone.

That being said I need to find a place of my own. Figured I'd probably sell some guns to help finance a new house.

The problem is I normally buy guns over the internet, not sell them. So tell me web guru's, what would fair prices be for the following?

Springfield Armory M-21. Unknown round count. Unknown scope base and rings. Optic is a Leupold 6.5x20x40

Springfield Armory Scout Squad. Mounted in a Sage EBR Marine Corp brown stock. Smith Vortex flash suppressor, tritium irons, extra-wide padded sling and 7.62x51 Trijicon ACOG optic.

Barret 99-1 50BMG. I know, it's a bolt gun in the semi forum, but humor me guys. Gun has never been fired and I should be able to round up all of the appropriate paperwork etc. Gun has a custom digi-desert Duracoat finish. Barret/Swarovski fixed 10x scope, Pelican case etc.

So what would fair prices be? I'm not looking to get rich off this but I need to cover my butt.

Your input is appreciated.

You can sell them to me for $1.00, or you could check out Gunbroker and get a little of an idea of what to ask. Wish I could help you out and buy one of those from you, Good Luck

Re: What's a fair price? - aka - Getting divorced.

There was a 99 in the FS section recently. Same w/the Sage but it wasn't the Marine Corps brown. Scan through, I believe they should be in the first 4 or 5 pages.

+1 on checking out Gunbroker. If you look at closed auctions you can see what people have actually paid as opposed to what someone wanted.

I've listed stuff as a package and ended up splitting them up. You've got to know how much you want for it before you can give prices on the pieces though.

good luck man.

This, and gunbroker has an appraisal program (albeit a crappy one.)

Be as broke as you can for a few months.. Do not own anything..

Or "give it away" to friends and family then after all that BS money grubbing **it is over then have them all give it back.

Let less you have the less she gets half of.

Re: What's a fair price? - aka - Getting divorced.

DO NOT DO THIS! The court will look less favorably on your position if you try this. If shes out for money they'll definately get it if you try something as stupid as this. My wife has told me the stories (Shes a family law lawyer).

Re: What's a fair price? - aka - Getting divorced.

M21 in my book says 1275@80% 1575@90% and 1825@95%
*add 325 for the Krieger stainless bbl

Scout Squad says 650@80% 775@90% and 900@95%
*add 122 for walnut stock
*add 45 for mossy oak camo

Barrett 99 says 1825@80@ 2000@90% and 2250@95%
*subtract 100 for .50bmg with 25"bbl
*subtract 200 for .50bmg with 29" or 32"bb

The scope if in good condition and is a 1" tube should be 500-600 if your talking about hunting knobs and duplex reticle. If its a tactical model with a mildot then more.

Usually you will always get more parting stuff out as it is rare to find that one person that wants it set up just the way you have it.

Hope this helps,
Mark

Kick her ass out and let her worry about getting a place. If she wants to leave, let her- but when it gets to court, you'll have an easier time with it if SHE is the one that physically leaves.

Play hard ball.

Re: What's a fair price? - aka - Getting divorced.

According to my boss, divorce is worth any price as it is always worth it.

As for your weapons, I would sell the scopes on ebay (scopes ALWAYS sell) and put the M21 and Barret on consignment at a local store (if the barret has a 50cal swaro scope I would keep it a package). Scout/squad I would sell locally.

Re: What's a fair price? - aka - Getting divorced.

Sorry to hear that.
On that note, sell the guns for $50 a piece to a trusted friend/family member, and offer to split the amount.

Get them back once finished.

Judge will hammer you for selling nything in a non-arms length transaction, at a steep discount... Beware of playing games with the court... You could end up in an even worse position.

It goes like this actually -

Q - Why are divorces so expensive?

A - Because they're WORTH IT!!

Re: What's a fair price? - aka - Getting divorced.

UNLESS money is something YOU have to have to get resettled then I would NOT sell anything at all..

If she is wanting to call it quits... Then YOU need to let HER leave... Force the issue of YOU staying..

You need to start digging for answers... Ask yourself WHY she is wanting the divorce.... is there a chance of her being UNFAITHFUL???

If so... then become the investigator and starting gathering information (evidence)... Anything you can come up with will be worth its weight in gold..

Any kids???.... If not then your in a decent position....

Many on here will tell you... and I HAVE been through it... It may seem like a cloud of confusion right now... but you need to toughen up.... because WAR is on the horizon.... she may seem nice and chatty now with you and willing to work a resolution out but BET your ASS she is preparring for WAR and you NEED to do the same.

Its VERY rare that 2 remain friends in a divorce... it happens... but it is VERY rare...

If this is a COMPLETE blindside and you had NO idea of it coming down the line... You need to get preparred QUICK!!!

PM me if you need any information.... Just TRUST me... I have been there.. and it SUCKED!!!!

But... in the end after all the smoke settled and the dust cleared... it was WELL worth the money spent.

Matt.
