Saw something on MidwayUSA today that I thought would work well for painting the muzzle brake I bought from Ross on here. Also the mag tube on my 870 (since it didnt get coated like the rest of it). I have never used it but it has good reviews online.

Looks easy enough. Clean, dry, spray and bake.

Anyone ever tried it?

Cera Kote in a can basically. It is ok if you want to do a small job as you have spoken of. Saw a couple of guns at school done in it and they were serviceable- The 870 I Cera Koted on the mag tube has held up well, but it is a high wear spot for obvious reasons.

how well did it hold up? how did you remove and resolder the tube back in? thanks

Re: Wheeler Engineering Cerama-Coat

I didn't resloder it. I didn't take it off at all- I meant it held up well on the 870 INCLUDING on the mag tube which is a high wear area.
If you are too concerned then just order military black Cera Kote and do it and be done.

Re: Wheeler Engineering Cerama-Coat

Used it to coat a muzzle brake from Ross. Was easy to do. Was worried it might come off when shooting but after a day at range no flaking or damage so I guess its good to go!

Re: Wheeler Engineering Cerama-Coat

I coated a stainless Mini-14 action. It has held up okay on the barrel, but I had to remove it from the bolt because it started to flake off. The spot where the brass hit the charging handle was getting beat up so I hid it with some grip tape. I probably wouldn't use it again. If I was going through the trouble of baking an action, I would buy Cerakote.

Re: Wheeler Engineering Cerama-Coat

I used the stuff to refinish a ruger Mark II. Took the entire can to coat the pistol and 2 mags. Has held up so far, but considering the cost I don't know if I would use it again.

Re: Wheeler Engineering Cerama-Coat

I've used it too. I finished an old winchester shotgun in it as well as a muzzle brake. It has held up, but for the life of me I couldn't get it to not run. For me the paint did not come out even. I shook the hell out of it for like 15 minutes before use, and held it a considerable distance from the parts I was spraying. But on both my shotgun and the brake, it ran. Most likely user error, but pain in the ass none the less.
