Rifle Scopes Sub 30oz durable long range hunting scope?

I have a swfa 3-15 sitting on top of my proof research rifle, this was just a temporary optic to cover me for this hunting season, but I am looking into upgrading this scope. I’ve looked at the credo 2.5-15, lrhs/lrts if I can find one, Tract toric, curious what you All recommend, I prefer ffp but I am okay with sfp, I’ll be shooting out to 1k but 600 on game

Overgassed solutions

I've started shooting this system a little more often lately and I'm trying to determine the best course of action to improve the obvious over gassing. When I built it nearly a decade ago, I just started with some basic mil spec parts and ran it 50/50 unsuppressed and occasionally suppressed with a .30 cal can. Ran OK in both situations, but not ideal. Going forward it will be run 100% suppressed.

Now that I'm planning to run it a little more often and I'm considering some gas gun LR team matches...I'd like to get it rolling a little smoother before next summer.
5.56 crimped 77gr OTMs at 2630 fps over 20 rounds on the new Garmin chrono

In the clip...
DPMS Mini SASS barrel (18" - 1:8 twist, w/ midlength gas)
Suppressor is a 224 VAPR (better suited for bolt guns) Tight bore, 9" and maximum suppression, but also restricting.
Takes a .936 gas block so I do NOT currently run an adjustable because it won't fit under this lowpro hand guard.
Gen1 Magpul UBR is standard carbine length. In the clip, it has an H3 buffer. 5.65 oz and a mil spec spring.
I've tested Armaspec systems up to H3
I have tested all the way up to a 10oz pistol buffer with an H5 tube and it's still excessive gas and tossing brass to the 1:30 - 2:00 when running suppressed.
Underside of the charge handle is vented to the right (similar to a Gas Buster except the opposite direction) But I think a legitimate handle that redirects excess gas on the top and bottom, away from the face would help too.

Now...here's the 3 options I'm considering. (either way, I'm planning to switch to an A5 system with a Gen2 UBR)

1) New hand guard to accommodate an adjustable .936 gas block I already have in a box somewhere. This is 17" and I'd like to stay in the 16-17.5" length.
2) BRT EZTUNE gas tube extra tight (.0635) and then hopefully get back down to an H3 or H2 buffer and TUBB Flat Wire spring...wouldn't be adjustable, but should make more common buffers work again.
3) Any other suggestions that make sense.

Shooting Bags Considerations

Most accurate shooters use support equipment. Support equipment like a bag make us moreconsistent, faster, and allow for many applications that would otherwise be impossible to doand maintain the same standards of performance commonly seen in competition, hunting, andprofessions where accuracy and precision matter. But to explore where we might gain moreaccuracy and precision in our own shooting, let’s briefly consider why we even bother withusing a shooting bag in the first place.

IMG_0110-1440x1080.jpg

Throughout history, shooters have confidently wielded their rifles offhand or with a sling. Whilethere’s nothing inherently wrong with shooting without additional support, it becomeschallenging due to the errors introduced by “being human”. The quickest way to compromise arifle’s accuracy is to have a human hold it and pull the trigger. Enter support equipment likeshooting bags. Having...

Tuberculosis and COVID

Paging all doctors. Can anyone splain this one to me. TB on the rise, but it might just be "aftershocks from the pandemic."

Is that kind of like the said the quiet part out loud thing. Yes TB cases and deaths are up because we stopped calling them COVID.

Or is it from the land of total bullshit lines. Like how every nature documentary has to mention global warming. Tell the lie often.

Custom Barrels

I plan on eventually, shooting myself into PRS.
Should i spend the bucks now on a barrel? I mean they arent THAT much. Ive got a rem 700 sa in a chassis - 5-25x56 FFP scope best ive got/could afford - Im sorry if i get some "use the search button" But there are so many different answers on what way to go.
Should i look into this "trueing" my action biz (clearly im a noob) or invest in a barrel since my rem is still rocking the 20" that came with it.
Also, on barrels - i was thinking 28 or 30" leaving about 2" for a brake, straight contour, stainless steel in and out (no chrome moly, as a gunsmith i can tell you it just basically dissappears after the first shot and ive never ONCE seen a uniform application. Patchy at best and plenty of uneven spots inside the barrel), I have a .308 should i look into changing caliber now or stick with it? I like the .308 but im not afraid of change. Staying with .308 id want ... what 1-10 twist? Flat crown for my brake, is that right? Do you actually crown your brakes?
I was looking at mcgowan for info and they seem decent but i am hunting for brand/maker's even if its a guy in his basement someone knows - if hes the man thats who im looking for. Oh, also (edit) I suppose this is where i ask about muzzle brakes. Ive got a witt machine custom threaded on the way for my remington for now but i know theres better. Any suggestions and mind you im considering what to do about my custom rifle crown depending on brake choice.
Sorry if this is repetitive guys really i am, i know how annoying and what a turn off it can be for vets on a board to see the same crap over and over.
Oh, entry rifle rests... should i go big early like a seb or break in light like a caldwell?
Anything im forgetting?
Thanks in advance even if you just tell me to "eat it noob". Just be creative and funny about it :).

I HATE THESE THINGS.........

1702555064104.png

A few years ago I HAD to buy a new trimmer. I had a manual one, you know turn the handle, and without making some major changes to the trimmer you could not put a drill on the one I had.....ie there was no factory option to do it.

I had to buy a new one because of issues with my hands/wrists/shoulders....whatever. I would be in pure hell after about 5 bits of brass.....I just could not do it. So I started looking.

I know a lot of you are going to say you should have gotten that one that starts with a G. I am not going to try to spell that french sounding name. Issue was IIRC it used something like a die to hold the brass, and they did not have the dies for the odd things I shoot. Yes they had blanks, and you could have them made....seems like too much trouble.

Long and short I got the Hornady one that looks like a drill press. It actually costs about the same money as the other really "good" one, but this one requires very little "hand" action. I can set it and just slowly pull down on the lever. If you don't know what it is here it is.

I actually really like this machine....but shell holders. YOU NEVER HAVE THE ONE YOU NEED. #23 Should be here tomorrow.

Suppressors Can Someone Spend Money For Me?

Been a minute since I started a thread. Anyways gents as it stands I have 2 suppressors in jail. RC2 and Magnus SR. Rather than buy two more (if I have to eff it), I’m looking for the crescent hammer.

Want something that is decent or better at suppressing 5.56, moderate to lesser back pressure, and 30cal bore. Don’t care about hub / whatever. No length restrictions. This will hop across multiple platforms that aren’t trying to be short.

I’ve thought about a 30cal Surefire or Omega 300 or a CGS Hyperion (less impressed with the mount situation here). Others as well.

Thank in advance 🫡
