Feds building cross dept gun owner database

The new Palantir cross department data sharing contains all manner of concerning things, but one I don't see anyone talking about is that it will be tracking every single firearm and ammo purchase and making those records available without warrant or really any justification across federal departments.

Everyone thinks this is a good idea?

How long is too long for a bolt gun barrel and suppressor?

gonna rebarrel my (shot out) single shot (short action Rem 40-X) 7mm mag to 7PRC, loaded for 180s. Current barrel is 27.5", but it has a brake. New barrel will run a TBAC Magnus RR can. I ordered a Krieger w 28" finish length, but I'm beginning to wonder if that's going to be too long with a 10.5" can on it. Shortest I would go would be 26". Going to 28" will get me ~50fps more velocity. This will be a varmint slayer (Sendero profile, heavy), so won't have to carry it anywhere

When does barrel + can on a traditional bolt gun get so long as to be a mistake?

Switching between manners stocks

Has anyone switched stocks that have pretty much the same ergonomics and seen a noticeable difference in their performance behind the trigger? I switched from a PRS1 to a TCS for my centerfire comp rifle and for some reason I’m struggling to get the same level of accuracy, now I wondering if it’s just mentality messing with me or something else.

I really noticed a difference yesterday when I was bouncing back and forth between with my other rig that’s still in a PRS1 and the TCS, everything felt very similar but there was just something off just don’t know if it’s mind over matter or actually something different enough to make a difference.

Worth restoring?

My mom inherited this Mauser from her late father, none of the family wanted it so she took it. I looked into it a bit and found that it is a desirable one, but missing some parts such as front sight hood and cleaning rod. Are there any companies that sell replacement parts or manufacture new ones? I’d like it to be as close to 100% as possible. Thanks

Firearms 2014 AI AT /AO SOLD* barrels and mags remaining

I have for sale a 2014 quick lock, AI AT that has been installed in an Accuracy Obsession chassis with an AX butt stock conversion, GTAC AR pistol grip conversion, and AI competition trigger.

The action is bedded into the chassis just like it was in the original AT chassis. The AX buttstock conversion also required bedding. I bought the rifle used just for this project and have long since sold off the original chassis. It has a Hoptic check pad(plus two spare replacements), a PLF338 3D printed bag rider along with the original AI bag rider. MPA EVG grip. The competition trigger is set to what I would guess is 1.75lbs and has never had a hiccup. It has been 100% reliable so it's kind of a unicorn. The chassis comes with two internal weights. A 1lb and a 2lb. It has full ARCA and MLOK. The rifle will come with one mag. Your choice of the modified AW that has the +2 MDT extension or an unmolested AW mag. No barrel. No scope. The chassis has some cerakote wear marks and the bolt face has some fire checking from the previous owner pushing 308 and Varget hard. I've had no issues with the bolt or entire rifle for that matter. The bolt is stupid slick. Large Primer firing pin. Everything functions and shoots well. The 6.5CM and 6CM barrels shoot really damn well. $3400

Available to the buyer is a total of 10 AW mags.

9 additional mags $500

Proof AI prefit in 308W. 26", 1600rds $600

Proof 26" full bull 6.5CM by Fritz at Black Canyon Customs. 560rds $800

Proof Comp contour 6GT, 24" by Straightjacket Armory. 1200rds $300

Proof Heavy Palma 6CM, 26" by Straightjacket Armory. 680rds. $300

$1200 for both CF barrels. $1500 for all four.

SOLD CZ 457 MDT ACC Premier Gen II Chassis w/ Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 in Vortex PMR Rings

I’m listing this rifle as a package for sale locally (Danbury, New Hampshire). If a period of time goes by I will be open to negotiating shipping and / or parting out.

This rifle started out as an Area 419 “Package Rifle” (https://www.area419.com/product/cz-457-mtr-fully-loaded/). The Wooden MTR Stock was upgraded to an MDT ACC Premier Gen 2 Chassis. It has their (Area 419) bolt handle and 30 MOA picatinny rail.

Mounted in Vortex PMR 34mm Rings is a Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 with a MRAD EBR-7C reticle. It has been upgraded to Vortex Defender Flip Caps in lieu of the rubber stretch cover and includes the box.

Also included is the OEM CZ Magazine Block and Magazine Release. When upgrading to the MDT ACC Premier Gen 2 Chassis MDT provides an extended version of both to be used with the chassis.

(2) Magazines are included
  • (1) CZ 457 OEM 5 Round Metal Magazine
  • (1) L3I Cz 457 13 Round Billet Magazine
This rifle has 250 rounds of Lapua Center X through it and is no slouch (see photos from target used to zero the scope on 6/14/2024)

I’m left handed and have a couple “right handed” rifles I kept around for training new shooters. There are no issues with this rifle and would make a great turn key setup for NRL22. . .

If you’re in New Hampshire I am the Match Director for NRL22 Shoots hosted at the Pemi Fish and Game Club in Holderness, New Hampshire. I’m willing to let a potential buyer shoot the rifle at a match.

I will also include the Data Book (from the Sig Sauer Sniper Course) and Data Book Cover pictured. Feel free to ask any questions.

$2,200.00 local sale. I’m not looking for any trades at this time.

If I do part the rifle out the optic and rings need to sell first. . .

$1,600.00 CZ 457 as described above*
$600.00 Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 MRAD EBR-7C*
Price is for local sale, shipping not included. If a few weeks go by I will consider shipping for actual cost.

Rifle Competition Events Cleaning for Competitions

Everyone and their mother has a different cleaning regime. Different products, different process and different definitions of what cleaning is.

For many years my cleaning process for precision rifles has been follow boretech instructions. Maybe do a cycle or 2. Gun shoots well again and is good for 100-300 rounds before next cleaning.

Then I got a borescope. And I realized how much hard carbon builds up in the grooves , especially in the first 10 inches of a barrel. I suspect I am not really cleaning the barrel fully each time and just adding layers of hard carbon and copper. When I clean I am stripping most of the copper and leaving in carbon? Maybe.

Now what really matters is how it shoots. Is the gun predictable? Does it hold zero , velocity and shot group size over a 250 round weekend?

I am not so much interested in your cleaning regime as in your philosophy on cleaning. I am positive with the right chemicals I can strip this shit out, but do I really need to?

And it goes without saying the accuracy demands, round count and requirements for something like a PRS shooter is much different than F class or Benchrest.

Do most of you feel like getting all the loose shit out of the bore is cleaning? Do you think you need to strip it down to steel to be clean? What have you experienced performance wise doing different methods?

I recently went back to Sweets 7.62 since its a much more effective solvent than Eliminator or C4, as well as using oversized brass brushes (6.5 for 6mm). It seems to pull more shit out but the brushes also wear out super fast. I might get 4-5 cycles of wet patch/scrub with brush before the brush is wore out and i feel little resistance in bore.
