I got a 650 yard range in the backyard and have started reloading. Been shooting a POF ar style in 6.5cm but am looking for a bolt gun to step it up a little.

I’ve looked at the Savage, Ruger Precision models, but after reading threads would like to find a Bergara or Tikka chassis gun in 6.5cm.

I’ve been watching the classifieds here for a month or so, but what would be the best way to go as a starter in 6.5 creedmoor? I’ve almost pulled the trigger on a Ruger RPR, but would waiting on the right Tikka or Bergara be a better choice?

I know a guy who has a son interested in joining the marine corp. he’s wanting to make a sniper. Do they have a heights requirement? He had a gland problem as a child that stunted his growth!

Anyone ever had a muzzle brake negatively affect accuracy?

I have my rifle absolutely dialed in. It’s a 223, and I’m debating putting a hellfire on it. It’s really not needed for recoil, I’m more concerned with dinging up the crown on instacles.

I don’t want to have to find new load data or screw with it anymore if the brake affects accuracy

So last night about 5pm I make my second trip of the day to Home Depot to get more lumber for my sniper's hide.

The "hide" is a dormer I'm building in the upstairs of my barn that is 133yds to my handgun/rifle range.

Anyway, as I'm buying a pile of 2x4's I park in the last parking spot in the loading zone area. This is the covered area, front of the store. As I pull into the last spot, I notice a parked van to my left with a couple of middle age tweeker types just sitting in the front seats. Don't look like contractors, not DIY homeowners.

Get out of my gladiator, grab a lumber cart - look back with my fob and decide not to lock my truck, thinking "let's watch this play out". I get the plate #. Haul cart into store, park it, and message myself the plate #.

Wait about 15 seconds and head out the other door to see a guy leaning in my passenger compartment, his back to me, on the passenger side. His driver remains in the van. He's rifling through my empty vehicle.

My right hand is on my shield 9mm, ready to drawn from my pocket holster. I startle and command him to exit the vehicle. He's got no visible weapon, but I maintain some distance and try to keep an eye on the driver. Nobody moves. I don't know if he knew I was armed - you guys would have assumed I was by my gestures.

I told him to get back in his vehicle and leave the scene, and to do it now - and if he didn't, I would hurt him. He and his pal back the van up and move on.

I didn't have time to get a pic of him or the vehicle (didn't want to focus on my phone).

After the event, I was surprised I was pretty calm, as I felt like had called in a coyote or some such critter.

The old rule - Always carry and have situational awareness.

Turns out the license plate didn't match the vehicle. I'm sure they're off to another HD to rip off contractors.

I need about a 20" platform in front of the window. That's just a cheap .22 for mockup.

I have a pretty much brand new Nightforce ATACR C569. Never shot and never took the range. Wife got it for me as a present but I am primarily a Mils guy.

Full disclaimer, when I first mounted it, I used an old sphur mount with stripped screws, when I tried removed the stripped screws I marred the body with my torque driver. I can’t stand scratches or anything awful looking on my gear. So I sent it to Nightforce and had the body replaced which cost me $580. They put on a new body and thus a brand new serial number. I just got it back today from Nightforce. The scope was never mounted and never fired, no damage whatsoever and nightforce inspected it and I will include all the paperwork as proof. Comes with box and paperwork. Happy to do FaceTime and videos.

I can't begin to tell you what I have learned from watching this, and I'm not even done. I have a Benchmark prefit barrel for sale, I had this cut by Straight Jacket Armory back in March of 2021.

The barrel has around 700 rounds on it. I have only shot factory ammo out of it. It is a very accurate barrel, I’m switching calibers, otherwise I would not be getting rid of it.

This barrel was originally $825 including shipping, $300 is a great deal for anyone with a Zermatt Origin.

Barrel was well taken care of, I only used Boretech brushes and jags on this barrel.

I have been asked about 15 times so far what I want for Christmas. Honestly I have almost everything I need already but there are a few more expensive items that I'm saving for.

I am tempted to tell everyone to please forego ties and socks as a present for me and to pool the money so I can get a thermal scope.

I am not dead set on any one brand or thing. This is where you come into play.

I need ideas for a possible semi entry level thermal scope.

A couple of features that I've seen that I really like are pretty much summed up with the AMG Rattler.

I like that it's a clip on. I also like that you can run it as a stand alone scope, but that you can also mount it forward of a scope and use it that way as well. It can also be used as a hand held monocular as well.

I definitely would like to have an external power supply option.

The price range is negotiable but I don't want to ask someone to spend themselves into the poor house for something like this. Hence I might ask everyone to just pitch in what they can and I will supplement the rest. That said I'm looking at $1000 to $1500 price range to start with.

Anyway if you know of any other options that I can look at please let me know.

I have zero experience in thermal optics so I'm really looking for a somewhat of a starter unit. It will not be used in ultra harsh abusive situations but I don't want a piece of junk either.
