Reusing old brass in a new barrel

Are you using the brass from your last barrel in the new barrel you just put on your bolt gun?

I have heard from a couple of people that a new barrel should have new brass. While this may be the perfect world answer I wonder how reasonable this is. I have brass with 8-9 firing on it that seems to be in good condition overall and it seems a shame to retire it when I spin the new barrel on.

On my first barrel change I was going from a factory chamber to an aftermarket barrel and chamber, the brass from the factory barrel was too tight in the aftermarket chamber after resizing and gave me all of the normal issues. I later resized that brass with a better die and it would have worked but I had already purchased new brass and didn't look back. I learned a lot about matching your die to your chamber during that mess.

Now I'm changing barrels again going from an aftermarket to another aftermarket barrel, not the same reamer and would like to continue to run the same brass.

Optics Vortex Razor G2 3-18x50 EBR-2C in Black (Rare)

Vortex Razor Gen II 3-18x50 in Black color
EBR-2C MRAD

I purchased from another Hide member. Didn't really need another Razor but thought it would be cool to have one in black. I don't have a box and I know these are rare so I have attached the receipts from the original buyer. Light ring marks but I had no issues with this scope, tracking or otherwise. Glass looks excellent.

Comes with:
- Scope
- Throw lever
- Defender flip caps
- Sunshade
- Tool
- Neoprene cover

OK, So How big is it?

Hi All,

My daughter and son in law bought a newly built home about 2-years ago in a recently built subdivision next to a largish lake in between Orlando and Apopka Florida (closer to Apopka), They are in their late 20's and have two kids, a boy almost 2-years old, and a daughter that just turned five.

And then this happened this week...

Video below. It's from their Ring camera in infrared mode so resolution is pretty bad. I told my son in law that he could borrow my Marlin 1895 in 45-70 :). Question is: How big is this girl. Yes, for reference the space between wall and column is 5-6 feet. Best weight guess? And I think it's a sow, with cubs. The county animal control is aware of a female w/cubs in the area.

Long read but fascinating WIRED story on crypto and taking down child porn….

Took down some major shitbags…. Who I hope die in prison.

Interesting the investigative players involved! And the scope and scale of cyber investigations. And for those thinking Bitcoin is somehow anonymous… nothing online is anonymous.
A good read!

Quality precision AR-10 6.5 Creed barrels

Hello everyone! I’m new to the gas precision rifle game and I’m looking for good AR10 precision barrel recommendations in 6.5 creed. I want to be able to have it machined so I can throw on this legacy Surefire break and can. Price point is not an object. Thank you in advance for all everyone’s help!

I think my scope might be broken.

Athlon Helos BTR gen 2 6-24 mil. 50 moa base on a CZ 455. should be sitting about 7 mil off the bottom, but it has been cranked to the top several times. I noticed when I switched from CCI SV to Eley Tenex it seemed to shoot flatter and not need as much elevation to hit at 110. a week or so later I'm back to shooting CCI and I'm hitting way low at 50. after 100 rounds or so I've settled back in at 1.0 mil to hit at 50.
Did the reticle move on the threads when I topped out the scope? It shouldn't be from bottoming out, I've got the zero stop in.
I'll mess with it some today, crank a mil or so and see if it tracks or not. If it seems to be working I can just rezero the turret and move the zero stop, but there should not be a shift of a whole mil at 50 yards.
Set the turret in the middle of its travel and give the gun a few bumps? See if it gets worse or better, or different?

How good can you shoot CCI SV?

It seems to me that CCI SV is the highest end of cheap bulk and the beginning of what could be considered target and match ammo.
It is cheap and plentiful. My CZ seems to shoot it pretty good. Tonight I shot a bunch of 5 shot groups, had a few where 4 shots were a cluster and then that one damned flyer... But then I got that one group. It may be my best ever.
I would like to see what others can do with the same ammo at the same distance. CCI SV 50 yards.
Here's mine. 3 pictures of the same group.

Expander Mandrels & Primers

Now maybe this is common knowledge, but I'm mostly self taught & I've never seen it discussed.

Recently I was loading 400 rounds of 6.5 Creedmoor.
In my reloading process typically the last steps are to lube the neck with graphite, mandrel, powder, & seat the bullet. On this batch of 1 x Lapua I noticed the mandrel was pretty tight. These were annealed the same as all previous so I thought it odd, then a light bulb went off. Looking at the inside of the mandreled neck I could see that the mandrel had a very concentric fit. So well in fact I suspected it was air compression that made it feel tighter. These were primed with a CPS and all primers were .0055 below flush to start. Sure as shit I started measuring after mandrel and the primers were now .004 - .0045. Luckily I wasn't stroking the press fast and just stayed consistent so all primers were in the range stated above after.

Note to self: Mandrel before priming. Anyone else see this?
A drilled or EDM'd hole through the mandrels plus a hole in the die cap would ensure this couldn't happen.

Rifle Scopes Anyone still making a direct mount one-piece base for Rem 700 Long Actions?

About to get one of my long actions back from Hill Country Rifles (they’re very local to me); trued receiver and with a new 280AI barrel. Also had the base/rings mounting holes bumped up to #8-40. Just need a scope mount now….

Probably Medium height and 30mm Ring diameter for a Zeiss scope I already have on hand.

Had my eye on a mount from Night Force, but it appears they’re no longer making them; nothing on their direct mount page: https://www.nightforceusa.com/nightforce-accessories-direct-mounts.aspx

This is the only one I can find so far (at Brownell’s):

p_749012018_1.jpg

…but it’s a high mount. Not a show stopper, but not exactly what I’m looking for either. I also prefer the version with 6 bolts per cap; can’t find that anywhere. Not a big fan of buying used either.

I can obviously just mount a base and then mount a pic rail version, but really wanted to limit the number of interfaces on this build. Anywhere I should be looking? Not 100% committed to that NF, but want a solid, well-made one piece direct mount, and I know of that one.

Thanks in advance…. appreciate any pointers, or hell, just some help getting pointed in the right direction!
