Recommended action for 338 lapua magnum build

Hi friends,
I am looking to build a custom rifle chambered in 338 lapua magnum.

Would prefer it to be of a manageable weight so that it is practicle to carry around. Looking for recommendations on which particular action (type and manufacturer) should I go for? Budget is flexible and not much of a constraint. Would rather build something of quality and precision.

thanks for your time and attention !

Climate Protesters Glue Themselves to a Floor. Hilarity Ensues.

“Failing to plan is planning to fail.” I forget where I first saw that line. I think it was on a sign on a wall in some place I worked in college, and variations of it have appeared in countless places over the years. As ubiquitous and pedantic as it may be, the saying is true, as a group of climate protesters in Germany have discovered. And they paid the price for not thinking ahead.

On Wednesday, nine climate activists calling themselves members of Scientist Rebellion broke into the Autostadt Museum, in Wolfsburg, Germany, across the street from the Volkswagen plant. According to the Daily Mail, They proceeded to super glue their hands to the floor of the Porsche exhibit because you know, all of the cool activists are gluing themselves to things these days.

One may assume that they would sit until Volkswagen agreed to lobby for decarbonization in the transportation industry and the German government agreed to lower the speed limit. The Blaze stated that the protesters said that Volkswagen supported their right to protest, but that apparently was as far as the company was willing to go.

For a group of people who call themselves scientists, how is it that they forgot about that little thing called biology? The human body needs to eat, drink, and, of course, relieve itself. But there they sat, amid a leftist version of the game Twister (Right hand, glue!), and as the old song goes, eat, nor drink, nor potty had they none.

They griped that they had not been given bowls into which they could urinate and defecate, and they could not order the food they wanted since people were allowed to leave the museum but not return. They had to rely on whatever Volkswagen provided. Furthermore, Volkswagen had the audacity to turn the heat and lights off. Volkswagen owns the building, and Volkswagen pays the bills. Volkswagen gets to turn the lights off if it wants.

Not that anyone really wants to know, but just how were they planning to relieve themselves into bowls with one hand glued to the floor? Did they practice that? Was there a yoga practitioner who coached them before the event? “Now, downward facing dog… breathe, let your chakras align… and don’t forget to wipe.”

Looks like none of those concerns were even considered. The demonstrators made the actual protest the number one priority. So much so that they actually forgot about number one. And, apparently, number two. It never occurred to them that while Volkswagen may have supported their right to protest, the company was never under any obligation to cater to it. One protester who said he was on a hunger strike complained of a swollen hand which he had covered in super glue. He was at a risk for blood clots and agreed to leave to seek medical help.

Of note, the most effective way to remove super glue is to dissolve it. Using acetone. Which is a petroleum product. Which is hilarious.

Shortly thereafter, the cops arrived and packed everyone off. So what was accomplished? Volkswagen got some good publicity, and the protesters pretty much “stepped in it,” so to speak. How could they avoid it? They didn’t have any bowls. And once again, these people were revealed as the true posers, charlatans, and emotional children that they are.

What its like living with ADHD and Dyslexia at 57....

A comment made in the reloading section prompted me to bring this up, I usually do if I find I am going to be sticking with a forum for a while, but just had not done it yet. Good as time as any.

Just like the title says I am 57 and have these two....issues....well I have a great many issues, but these two are the ones talking about today.

My hope in this is a little education, perhaps you have a young one in your life that is having issues, this may really help them....and you....with some of the challenges.

And for a great many this is TLDNR, so for you folk that can't read the entire thing, short answer, brain damage....duh.

So here we go:

ADHD

ADHD is really not understood outside of the people that have to deal with it one way or the other. They think attention deficit hyper activity....well they can't sit still and can't concentrate.....well no. And this is where so much of the misunderstandings come from. Well little johnny can sit there all day long and read his book on WWII tank specs (me), the most stupid stuff and dull stuff in the world. Who cares about welds and armor thickness and that factory used these wheels and that factory cut the slits this way. So just smack him on the ass and he will get his butt in gear....again no. It also comes with the ability to hyper focus on specific tasks. And if you pull him away from that task he hyper focuses on he will loose his mind, and likely not know why.

Remember that really bad movie The Accountant, he had that ability with numbers, and if pulled away from the task it really messed him up. This is very accurate and why a guy I have known for 40 years told me to watch that movie he is just like you. You might like the movie as well as it is a "guy" movie.

Story time:

About a year ago we had the back tank on a toilet crack and flood the down stairs. Long story short need a new toilet, wife just says buy one, I go to lowes and look, and that little switch in my head went off. I need to learn more about this. So for three months I researched night and day toilets. I learned everything about them, finally the wife put her foot down and said you really need to pick, both upstairs bathrooms are out of action and I am getting sick and tired of going down stairs to pee. Yea that kinda does suck the floor is cold. So within a week I had one picked out. She knew better then to just go buy one, as it would be gone whenever I made my choice, put she gave just the little push I needed. Later that year the AC in the house went out. Did not care, could not force myself to learn anything about it. So I could learn everything about a couple hundred thing I needed but could not on the couple thousand thing I needed....yup just could not force myself to research it. She bought it, did everything.

This is also why video games are so good at keeping these peoples attn, and seems to "calm" them. It is something they are interested in, always changing, it keeps them going....and can spin you off into researching who knows what. Early in the year I was doing a deep dive into south african wars.....now I have read about 8 books on native american wars.....when the switch gets flipped to off I will stop, and I just can't force myself to read another page, my mind is everywhere.

Dyslexia

Dyslexia is really a pain, and also can take many forms. Can be so bad you can't read, to a level like mine where I read what I want to read. This is one reason I test so badly, and was the cause of more then a few beltings. They ask you a question. Why did the chicken not cross the road. Answer, to get to the other side. WRONG smack. You are rushing, go slower. No that is not it, my brain just does not see the not. It will read what it wants to read. A real issue when I took typing in high school, you had to in order to get into the computer classes. I could not find my typos, I was lazy.

Another issue I have is numbers change places, and change themselves. It is real hard for me to dial a phone number. It is hard to wright down a phone number. Where I work we all have numbers, three digits, I will transpose these all the time, or even put numbers that are not there in the guys DSN.

Had a guy working for me, What your number 123, I wrote 965, Where in the hell did you get that. No idea, but for that minute I saw 123.

Also in typing, I see what I want to see, so in making posts there is a great deal of corrections that go on. Things like which wich is witch really get me, just like too to and two, I know what one to use, but the short between my eyes and brain will see the correct one. It really sucks.

To the gun side of things, as well as other "hobbies", I have a great deal of them. I raced SCCA sports cars, and built my own car, I fly model airplanes, guns, cars in general, as well as other toys, slot cars, RC cars raced them at a step above club level, and I have all that stuff, I can't toss anything away....it is like cutting off my arm. I am lucky to have an understanding wife. With the guns I will get something, and be basically focused on that, working up loads, testing, making notes to the n'th degree, and when the switch in my mind flips to enough, well very hard to get me to do much more then just shoot it from time to time, I want that next gun, that next challenge.....and I start to go nuts if I don't have something to keep me going.

This also leads to a great many half done things. I have a small early 80's two stroke motorcycle, needed a new piston, by the time it arrived I lost interest, that was roughly 7 years ago. I push that bike in and out of the shop every time I am out there. The half done engine sits in a bag on my bench. Same deal with the rail buggy, my fiat and fiero. For some reason my brain wanted to do cars again, so after years off (other health issues) I am VERY slowly working on cars again and doing a VW. I have already done the sand rail, fiat and fiero....good timing as I hit a deer last week and needed another car. My bad back has really slowed me down so what would take two hours now is several days, I just can't be on my feet that long so lots of sitting and looking at the world go by, then after about 15 minutes I am up again and putting that wheel bearing in that I sat down to pack.

I will gladly answer questions you may have, I have learned a great deal and have some good sources if you have a loved one that you think might have an issue.

So that is really a little bit about both of these "disorders" and they are real, little johnny will not get better no matter how often you spank him.

Hope this helps someone out there.....And if you choose to be a dick don't expect a reply.

This guy will strike again

This guy will most likely end up hurting someone else before his deferred adjudication period ends. Sounds as though this incident will be expunged if he doesn’t trip up in the next 8 years.

I’m confident if I committed this act of violence I would be thrown in a dark hole for the rest of my life.

Ultra 7. Super impressed

Really impressed after taking my ultra 7 fresh out of atf jail out for a time at the range. If there was an affect on the group size I sure can’t tell. Sound suppression was surprisingly hearing safe on my terminus Zeus with a 24” 223 bug holes barrel. Was not expecting that. I don’t have a meter or anything but after a few rounds I wondered if it would be hearing safe without hearing protection and slid them off and it was no big deal at all. I honestly expected it to be a little hot on the ears but it just wasn’t. Is this what I can expect for the ultra 7? Will it be similar with my 6.5creedmoor barrel? Anyone else run these without ears for more rounds etc…. Just curious what to expect as I know this is a very popular can and lots of you guys have had it for years… thanks in advance

The Green Tax: Electric Vehicle Owners Shocked by Battery Replacements Costing $20,000+

Canadian Electric vehicle (EV) owners have been shocked to find out that battery replacements for their cars, especially older models, tops $20,000. One EV owner shared his experience, saying: “At the dealership, he looked it up online and said you’re not going to like this,” before delivering a bill of $15,000 plus labor and taxes.

“I don’t understand why they make the battery so expensive when you have to change it,” Phyllis Lau, who owns a 2018 KIA Soul all-electric vehicle, told CTV News Toronto.

Lau’s electric SUV came with a warranty for the battery that covers 160,000 kilometers (99,419 miles), or eight years, whichever comes first. This year, her EV clocked in more than 170,000 kilometers, meaning the warranty no longer covers the battery.

When the battery failed, Lau took the vehicle to her local dealership, where she was told a battery replacement, after labor and taxes, would come to $23,000. KIA reportedly agreed to foot half the bill, even though the EV was outside the warranty period.

“They won’t fully cover the cost,” Lau said. “They say the best they can do is half and half.”

Ken Edwardson, another Canadian EV owner, purchased a used 2011 Lincoln MKZ hybrid four years ago, and was shocked to learn that replacing the battery, also after labor and taxes, comes to about $20,000.

“At the dealership, he looked it up online and said you’re not going to like this,” Edwardson told CTV News Toronto. “It was about $15,000 for the battery plus labor and taxes.”

The electric vehicle owner added that he doesn’t feel it’s worth it to invest $20,000 in a car that is now over ten years old. “I just wasn’t expecting that kind of price to replace the battery,” he said.

ARCA or Picatinny

So in looking for some bi-pod mounting options I found a few things. One: Picatinny style, Two: ARCA, or Three: A hybrid that combines a small section of ARCA with Picatinny.

As my current stud style sling points are 3" apart on the stock fore end, the above choices/version all can fit easily on the stock. They even have a swivel style sling point as well.
Is there any pros/cons for either version??
