7-6.5 PRC

I think there was a group of us that was super stoked that the 7 PRC would be a adaptation of the 6.5 PRC, at least, I was.

Now that we know that it's not, we can start making one ourselves. I've talked to PVA and they have a reamer ready to go. Brass is easy to find and good quality. F-class guys are pushing 180 hybrids 2900-2925. I'd imagine that's using a long action though. Based on looks alone I don't think it'd be giving much if anything up to the 7 RSAUM or sherman's (SS & SST).

It seems that using a short action will always be compromising when looking at a magnum. I'm hoping this fits my needs until I build a dedicated ELR rig. I've been bouncing a lot of ideas around but I think this is where I'm landing.

What do you guys think?

Has anyone here been running one?

Nadler Congressional opponent, USAR Major, makes Pronhub videos for campaign.

Wow.

Mike Itkis, a third-party liberal candidate in New York's 12th District and current major in the US Army Reserve, is running to unseat Jerry Nadler in November, having achieved ballot access in September.

One of Itkis' key campaign issues is decriminalizing sex work, so to promote it, he participated in an adult film which he posted to the sex site PornHub on his own account.

The 53-year-old Itkis - whose bio describes himself as 'Not married. No kids. Not celibate. Atheist.' - stars with adult actress Nicole Sage in the X-rated clip, which features the pair having sex on camera twice over the course of the past year.

The video, which is about 13 minutes long opens with the performer Sage, clarifying that she consents to the scene and is 'not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.'

Stolen valor experience…to save someone else under $100..

Whole lot of what the fuck

I’m on a trip with a co worker

We end up having to get hotel rooms, company pays for it

He remarks that mid to low 200 a night is way too much, even though this is a vacation destination type place, says we should get rooms at some roach inn, I’m like “homie don’t play that game”

He instantly asks if I have a hotel app, says all you need to do select the gov rate discount (for Mil FD PD) and if you check in on the app you won’t be asked for your gov ID….as he’s never worked for gov

This same person won’t work on a Sunday as he needs to go to church…I don’t think Jesus would stolen valor a fucking hotel room to save his company a few bucks a night 🤷‍♂️

He booked his shady way, I just used my hotel member status and booked a room like a normal honest person

Oddly enough I have found a high percentage of hard core church goers tend to be of iffy character

Yet another 223 load question...

Rifle is surgeon action 223 Wylde.
25" Bartlien bull barrel 1/7 twist
24.0gn Imr8208 powder
Lapua virgin brass
CCI 400 primers
Hornady 88 eld

At 24.00gn of powder I get a velocity of 2834f/s. But I'm seeing over pressure signs, in fact 1 blown primer. See attached pic. It may have been a damp round that blew the primer, but all the rest look like cratering as well.

Am I pushing this too much? It's a fantastic group .3" , SD=2.

My next lower node looks to be at 23.60gn haven't shot it yet to see pressure signs. I really wanna maximize this for PRS.

New Year, New Rules, maybe ...

As 2022 comes to a close, people should have started to look to 2023.

This is a golden opportunity to improve and correct some issues locally if you notice any or have had some negative feedback.

One area I see being discussed is Production Class or Factory Class and how to address these rifles. People want to open the door to enter and bring in new shooters, the problem is the PRS crowd that dictated a minimum entry price. Saying a Production rifle is one with a maximum price immediately closes the door to anything sold for less money. If they say, Production class is a $2500 rifle and $2500 scope, that means anyone with a practical streak will not show up unless their rifle meets these minimums.

If you want an entry class, consider a limited division with fewer rules. You want to look at what features a basic rifle provides vs what features a custom rifle does. You want the guys with the $800 Tikkas and $500 Arkens to show up right, so you want to speak to them.

I still believe wholeheartedly that factory ammo is the real deciding factor. My personal model of a limited division is any rifle under 19LBS with a max barrel length of 26" and factory ammo. That is really the most basic entry point. (I went 19LBS because some AIs are 18+ out of the box) and really, rifle weight should not include the scope if you are doing rifle weight unless you just say, as carried, which makes it easy to pop a complete rifle on a scale.

Overcomplicating rules is where things fall down. If you simplify them, you have less drama.

An open division with nothing but a weight limit (we should have a weight limit every other discipline does) and then Factory vs. Handload is your biggest offset of score next to the skill. Barrels have to be replaced, so if you say 26" is a factory max, you let people use the same rifle and continue down the same path.

Things to think about, the subcategories are easier too; you can have an open and limited and then, say, Lady and Junior inside those two, very straightforward.

A new year is a great time to make changes that can be looked at to help improve participation a bit.

The difference, Lots and lots more people living in and around the coastal areas.

Another truth, a hurricane hunter aircraft, flew into the eye of Camille just a few hours before she made landfall. They gave out a warning, GET OUT NOW, THIS IS ONE BAD BITCH. Until Camille, everyone thought a small hurricane was a weak hurricane.

Build high, stay dry, build on the coast, no hope

Tikka T3X Super Varmint 223

I have been looking for one of these for a while and I just saw a variety of these guns on GB. It checks every box I have been looking for:
23.7 inch barrel
threaded barrel 1/8 twist
good trigger, and smooth bolt
Decent stock
built in rail to upper

I have a Rem 700 5r that I have loved for years. But wanted longer barrel in 1/8 vs its 1/9. It still shoots 77grain ammo great. It 10 years old and still running, but I wanted to play with a new toy.

If you have been looking for one of these, some are released now. Maybe old news but it was new to me.

New hunting scope for hunting/ target shooting.

I was lucky and found a Weatherby Mark V carbonmark on sale about half off and would like to put the best glass I can on it. Right now I’m looking at the Leupold Mark 5HD in 3.6-18, the Burris XTR iii in 3.3-18, and a few others that I know very little about. Zeiss, Swarovski, Nightforce. This rifle is chambered in 6.5 creedmore and will be my new primary rifle used mostly for deer and possibly elk. Any recommendations would be welcome.

It’s For Your Safety🙄

Katrina… NYC stop & frisk… Round up the usual suspects… It’s for your safety…

IIRC there was an incident a few years ago in Indiana(?) where the police put up a barricade, had everyone get out of their cars, handcuffed them and had them sit on the curb while their vehicles were searched for something that could identify one of them as a suspect in a shooting.

Now this.

Arrogant assholes is too polite a term to apply to these jackboots.

PRS comps take way too long

So I got talked in to PRS shooting last year and it was fairly new for many at the club. But has gained an even more following which is great. But damn the matches take up too much time. At least at our range it does. 60-80 shooters. 8 stages and it’s 4 hours + to shoot. Two hours of travel and then help clean up. It’s a 7 hour day. It’s why I gave up golf. The other reason so many shooters attend is that the range has 4 matches a year so I think that adds to the need to attend. Not sure what others see out there at there local range but it’s not really keeping me entertained anymore. More of a grind.

‘Would Have Gotten Us Killed:’ Soldiers Slam Microsoft Headsets After Disastrous Test

US Army Troops test Microsoft HoloLens

Alana Mastrangelo14 Oct 202228

Microsoft’s high-tech HoloLens headsets were recently tested by the U.S. Army, which found that they have significant flaws that soldiers say “would have gotten us killed,” according to reports.
More than 80 percent of the soldiers testing Microsoft’s headset — designed to give them a “heads-up display” similar to those used by fighter pilots — have reported feeling nauseous, getting headaches, or suffering eyestrain according to a U.S. Army report obtained by Bloomberg and Business Insider.
Microsoft’s Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS), is supposed to let commanders project information onto a visor in front of a soldier’s face, and include features such as night vision.
“The devices would have gotten us killed,” one soldier said of Microsoft’s headset, referring to the light generated by the goggles when they’re active, which could alert the enemy to the soldier’s location on the battlefield.
Nickolas Guertin, director of Operation Test and Evaluation, concurred, saying the system is still experiencing too many failures of essential functions.
This comes after the Defense Department gave Microsoft a contract worth nearly $22 billion to build the devices for the U.S. military.
In a statement, Microsoft said “our close collaboration with the Army has enabled us to quickly build” and modify the device “to develop a transformational platform that will deliver enhanced soldier safety and effectiveness. We are moving forward with the production and delivery of the initial set” of devices.

Bloomberg reports that the test results will be assessed by lawmakers as they decide whether to $424.2 million the Army proposed to spend on the program this fiscal year.
