Precision Rifle Gear Frogg Toggs Durability

Having shot my last three competitions in either passing rain or bitter cold wind I've found myself wanting some lightweight, compact, 100% water and windproof rain gear I can keep in my pack at all times.

In theory Frogg Toggs are exactly what I want and are so cheap it should be a no brainer, but every review I've read suggests they durability is so bad after 1 or 2 uses they'll be trashed.

Is there something else comparable that is compact and lightweight but is more durable?
I don't need something breathable that I can hike in, just something to keep out the wind and rain as I stand out in weather most normal people would have sought shelter in.

22 Creed - Why isn’t it more popular?

Apart from barrel life, why isn’t the 22 Creed more popular? Any chance Hornady and others produce factory ammo in the next year or two?

It looks to be a low recoil laser with less than 6 MILs needed for 1,000 yds. It handily beats it’s 6mm and 6.5mm relatives at any reasonable range (given, there is less energy on target).

I asked because I had a 6 Creed that I loved but sold to fund another rifle. I’m now looking at a 6 or 22 Creed barrel for this new rifle but really want factory support behind whatever I choose. A MOD400BB blank wouldn’t really save money but would allow a single barrel to be used longer in either which is a plus for me

Hornady SUPERFORMANCE

I've only been shooting long range (1,000 yards) now for about a year. My rifle is a .308 with a 20" barrel. I've tried only 2 different factory ammos and stopped looking after I started shooting the Hornady SUPERFORMANCE 168gr ELD Match b/c it was unbelievably accurate out to 1000 yards (for me, anyway). After I got my DOPE set up for that ammo, I could hit the 1000 yd steel about 9 out of every 10 tries (usually on a sunny day with low/no wind). Because I wanted to get into handloading, I wanted to see if I could duplicate that Hornady load (and maybe improve upon it). I have the 11th edition of the Hornady reloading book and I was a bit surprised to see that they don't show the Hodgdon SUPERFORMANCE in their list of powders for the .308 168gr ELD Match bullets (but they do show it for 6.5 CM). Maybe they don't use the Hodgdon SUPERFORMANCE powder in their "SUPERFORMANCE" ammo?

Is anyone using Hodgdon SUPERFORMANCE powder with the Hornady 168gr ELD Match bullets in their .308 with excellent accuracy? If so, would you mind sharing which brass, primer and how many grains you're using? Any other info you'd be willing to share about your load development for this combo would be appreciated.

possible hack of Hogden retail sight

I had a pop-up ad show on my browser a few days ago. It looked like a legitimate site. Hogdenretailstore. It had Varget listed for $41.99 a pound so I put an 8lber in my cart. It offered payment by zelle, and a few other non-traditional payments. There is a chat that pops up with Mauris as the moderator. I asked about credit card for purchase and he replied sure, just type in your cc info. So I couldn't find anything that looked fishy with the site, it is on https etc. He replied that my card had been denied. I thought maybe this was due to the new credit card rules on firearms accessories purchases. I didn't think much about it until last night Capitol One advises me they had declined a charge for $738.50 to fiverr. I call and sure enough here is a charge to shopify for $0 that was declined and then the charge to fiverr.

First time I have been skimmed by such a very legitimate looking site. Capitol One had locked the account down and is issuing a new card.

First Long range setup - looking for advice

Hi all,

I’m looking to start long range shooting. I’m not sure where to start and I am looking for advice. My experience is limited to pistols, shotguns, AR-15s. I’m looking in into joining a club about 40 mins from home that has 1000 yds and once a month turn it into a 1-mile range (In the future they plan on extending it to 2000 yards). I’ve seen many comments suggesting starts on a lower recoil caliber like 6.5 cm to help focus on fundamentals. I’m really interest becoming proficient at shooting up to a 1 mile. I realize that a magnum caliber would be more ideal for that range.

This past weekend I was able to tour the club I was thinking of joining. As chance would have it, there was a Pro-Am 3-gun match going on and Barrett Firearms was there showing off the MRAD MK22 in 300 Norma Magnum with a Leupold Mark 5HD 5-25x56mm scope and suppressor on the 1-mile range. I got to take a few shots with Barrett’s team member doing the wind calls – great fun, I think I’m hooked.

I want to purchase the right setup to get started and gain experience as quickly as possible, but I am unsure what to buy.

My thoughts were:

Option A:

Buy a medium-priced rifle, say Bergara Wilderness HMR in 6.5cm and put a nice or maybe very nice scope on it (Nightforce ATACR - 5-25x56mm, Leupold Mark 5HD 5-25x56mm, or maybe even the Schmidt Bender 5-25x56 PM II FFP GRID). Get comfortable with it. Move up to a custom action & barrel in 300 prc or maybe 300 norma. And reuse/move the nice scope over to the new custom build.

Option B:
Or is it better to start on a custom long action barreled down to a 6.5 cm and then just switch the barrel & bolt to the new larger caliber? Maybe like with an ARC Mausingfield or Terminus Zeus/Kratos?

Option: C

I’m open to suggestions. Should I get a cheaper scope to start on a cheap gun? Should I be looking 308 instead of 6.5 creedmoor? What other factors should I consider?

I want to be practical with my money. On the project in total (all rifles + scope(s)), l I really don't want to spend over $6000, but I don’t mind spending money on utility & quality, but not on designer branding, duplication of use, or looks. (btw 95% of the time I will not have a spotter)

Thank you for your thoughts in advance.

Cheers,

CG

Biden is Puerto Rican Now!!

Joe Biden Claims He Was ‘Sort of Raised in the Puerto Rican Community’ During Visit to Puerto Rico
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/...rto-rican-community-during-visit-puerto-rico/

What say our PR members here on the ‘ Hide? You going to claim him? ;-)

I mean, honestly, it’s like a huge insult to the Puerto Rican community. Not the pandering. But the fact that the folks from PR could raise such a hammerhead.

Sirhr

PS. After Biden made his statement, the USSS assigned an agent to guard the hubcaps on the Presidential Limo.

I’m going to hell for that one.

So they can’t play, lose money and never stfu…

This is what happens when you “force a sport” on people who frankly, don’t give a damn.

The whole league, along with the WNBA, has been a joke from the beginning. But has demanded airtime, equal pay, and attention while really being a platform for blabby dykes to complain that they aren’t equal.

Hey… no one asked for a WOmens Soccer League. You players demanded it. All the way back to your Title 9 BS… thinking that a court case would make third rate play interesting. And you delivered crap. Now are bitching that the league has become a magnet for abusers and shitbags. Who didn’t see that coming?

Seems like this is a perfect moment to fold up the womens soccer league pup tent, fire everyone and realize that another experiment in woke is an abject failure. Because the first thing wokes do when someone hands them something they demanded… is destroy it.

Goes along with being mentally-ill, I guess.

“Wah, I can’t play soccer, but will get rich a decade later because my tits got grabbed.”

Sirhr

Anyone know how hard it is to register a solvent trap as a suppressor?

I have been running the titanium scorpion on my AR mainly for the looks, but I am working on getting a suppressor for it. This one has the quick disconnect threads.

I like the look of this one for my build. There are plenty of others out there, but they're boring and don't really match my weapon style.

I'd like to convert this trap to a suppressor. Anyone had any success or know of an FFL that takes others tubes and registers them?
