ATF "Virtual Training", anyone else here log into this?

So I tuned in this afternoon, and got near zero clarification on the stuff that affects me.
I'm not going to take in PMF's, so I couldn't care less about that part of the legislation- even so, that's the least ambiguous to me- but seems to be the main focus of the discussion. However, there seems to be much more that's completely unrelated to the 80%/PMF focus.

"Marking requirements" is where I'm still lost.

As an 07 smith:

If a customer sends me a serialized receiver (say for a bolt gun- Defiance, for example; but could also be an AR lower), and I rebarrel it- do I now need to add another S/N to this? Currently, I engrave the barrel (name, location, caliber) only. In this same example- would it make a difference if I purchased the receiver insofar as additional serialization (currently, it would be included in AMFER).

Cerakoting:
The presenters bumbled through these questions and didn't seem to know the answers.
Still confusing as to whether an 01 or 07 is needed, but since I have the 07 I'm covered either way- but I got the impression that in some circumstances, serialization could be required? If so, under what circumstances?

Guess what I'm looking for is real clarification on the scenarios under which an additional serial number would need to be added to a frame or receiver that has already been serialized- if any?

Beryllium Copper Frame 1911 Build

At the suggestion from @sirhrmechanic , I'm going to start a build thread on building and finishing the 1911 frame I've acquired that's an Olympic Arms Beryllium Copper frame.

I've sourced an older vintage Colt National Match slide, and hopefully some of you guys can give input on it and or other various parts and items I'm planning on. Currently, I'm working on fitting the barrel to the slide, which takes time and patience. Still need to fit the locking lugs and locking depth.

One specific item I'm curious about is a front sight that's missing from this slide. The rear is a King and I'm guessing the front might have been a King reflective?

Anyway I'll do my best to update with pictures as I work through it.

Disclaimer: I am aware of the health hazards of Beryllium Copper dust and will take precautions throughout the process to handle it accordingly. Masks, oil, vacuum etc.

The Hard Truth: The Left Gains Power With School Shootings, And That’s Why They Don’t Want Them Stopped

A New York Times columnist recently admitted to what we’ve always suspected, that they know their ‘solutions’ won’t work and it’s all to get to one goal of gun confiscation.

Doesn’t it seem strange to you that the same people who always talk about our children as a precious resource don’t want to lift a finger to protect them? Does it seem strange to you that they only have one set of ‘solutions’ and that they reject everything else? Even stranger, that they are all in lockstep with these non-solutions?

You can answer many of these questions by simply listening to the ‘intelligentsia’ of the liberty deniers in how they communicate amongst themselves. Quite often, their writings can be very revealing. A matter of saying the quiet part out loud, in this case, entitled: “The Hard Truth: Gun Safety Must Be Everything That Republicans Fear”. Mr. Blow begins hard truthing with this:

“People believe it is savvier to tell only part of the truth, to soft-pedal the sell in an effort to get something — anything — done.
But lying will always lead to a trap.
Let me explain: The truth that no one wants to tell — the one that opponents of gun safety laws understand and the reason so many of them resist new laws — is that no one law or single package of laws will be enough to solve America’s gun violence problem.
The solution will have to be a nonstop parade of laws, with new ones passed as they are deemed necessary, ad infinitum.”

Did you catch that first admission? The liberty grabbers have only been telling ‘part of the truth’ to ‘get something — anything — done’. Along with the outright confession that ‘lying will always lead to a trap’. Is he referring to the perennial lie from the liberticidal left that “This is not about taking away anyone’s guns”? When all they talk about is taking away guns?

He then prattles on referring to the unconstitutional infringements the leftist liberty deniers have been trying to ‘Rahm’ down our throats the past few weeks. Openly admitting that these ‘solutions’ won’t solve anything. Something everyone on the pro-freedom side has known all along.

It’s at this point that Mr. Blow ups the truth bomb with this open admission that explains why we resist (To coin a phrase) their incremental moves:

“They see the passage of gun safety laws as a slippery slope that could lead to more sweeping laws and even, one day, national gun registries, insurance requirements and bans. I see the same and I actively hope for it.”

(This is also why we archived the page because the internet is forever.)

Did you catch the part about ‘national gun registries, and bans’. The former would be the obvious devolution from ‘expanded’ background checks and the latter would be the natural consequence of them. We’ve made the point before that gun confiscation orders are the red flag of tyranny. Along with the fact that the anti-liberty left still insists on lying about their ultimate goal as discussed by Mr. Blow.
This wasn’t the only timely exposé of this kind. The recent Matthew McConaughey debacle contained its own revelation of the truth. It was just a casual admission, one that a polished politician would try to avoid at all costs. The actor carelessly stated in an interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier that:

“That on the Left, they’re willing to say, you know what, we may want the whole loaf, but we will take a slice of bread,”

In both cases, they made the casual admission that they ‘want the whole loaf’, but they are willing to take incremental slices of it over time.
As this is being written, the big news is that the ‘Republicans’ are knuckling under, surrendering some more of our freedom, all for the fantastic price of absolutely nothing. Anti-liberty leftists are now sensing weakness and of course, they are demanding more concessions. Mr. Blow and his hard truth already made mention of this as a ‘nonstop parade of laws’ that will eventually get the whole loaf.

Recent events have shown us what works. A good gal with a gun stopped a mass murder tragedy in Charleston, West Virginia. A properly secured school and an SRO stopped a man who was “aggressively trying” to get into an elementary school in Gadsden, Alabama. Anti-liberty leftists have come out against securing our schools and arming teachers and school staff. Why do they resist these common-sense measures? It should be obvious why this is the case; we just have to face the hard truth of the matter.

Sidearms & Scatterguns What's your favorite hunting sidearm for predator control

I should preface this with I'm mostly looking for something when going pig hunting and other predator control, I will be using NV so will be putting on a Steiner TOR Mini IR on it, so having a picatinny accessory rail underneath is a must. I shoot 10mm, 40S&W and 9mm currently. I've wondered should I go with 10mm for more stopping power or do most of you feel 9mm is just fine with the right bullets for the big piggies.

Maggie’s My 1st Experience in public

Spent the morning at a par 3 course. In the 4-some, when one birdies, we all drink. Well, that set the tone for the morning and into the afternoon as we found ourselves at a local watering hole. This is where I should have started the story but needed to clarify why I can’t recall some lovely details. Well, I found myself next to a couple at the next table. For some reason it turned political, ( insert lost details here) she got up and called me a Trumper, and moved to the other side of the table, He then started to expound how he was self-made, and who was i?

Well, the upshot, the guys with me, only got in on the last bit of exchange, as the couple were ramping up verbally at me, as they stood up and left the place. We all looked at each other and just laughed. They went from 0 – 200 in a matter of minutes. High five ‘s all the way around. Even given my condition, I never raised my voice, just asked questions, and they went bat shit crazy.. Can’t wait for the next encounter.

Used tools sell, donate?

I have about 50 years of tools from my trade, car/truck builds and misc. Most are hand tools wrench sets, socket set, standard and metric.
Some corded drills Milwaukee Bosch Metabo
All are quality older Craftsman when they actually made a quality tool in the USA, SK, Proto.
I have posted some for sale on craigs list, FB market place not much interest.
I have contacted some trade schools, some interest not much.
I am at the point of just scrapping them as scrap metal.
Any suggestions welcome.

Inexpensive 22lr target scope? Arken or Athlon or other?

Looking for an inexpensive target scope that is about 5-25 or 6-24, x50 or x56 objective, between 10-25yd minimum parallax is fine, and ideally less than $500, hard stop is at $700. Haven't shopped in this arena for a while, need some advice.

EDIT: After the below, based on price alone, going with the SH4. On a different note - does anyone know of a 30 or 40MOA rail for the Kidd 10/22 - it doesn't use standard 10/22 bases given that it has a different hole pattern. Kidd only makes up to 20MOA and my search yielded nothing.

Based on the use described below, it looks like my best options are:
1. Arken SH4 gen2 6-24 (on sale for $325 shipped for 4 more days, about 108MOA total elevation adjustment)
2. Arken EP5 5-25 (out of stock, otherwise about $565, about 110MOA total elevation adjustment)
3. Athlon Ares ETR 4.5-30 (about 110MOA total elevation adjustment)
4. Athlon Ares BTR Gen2 4.5-27 (about 80MOA total elevation adjustment)
5. Athlon Midas Tac HD 6-24x50 (about 85MOA total elevation adjustment)

6. Can you find a Leupold vx-3i 8.5-25 FFP for under $700 anymore?

I'm going to get the SH4 gen2 before the sale ends simply b/c it's cheaper and there seems to be enough people here and elsewhere saying it's good enough for the price unless others can say that their EP5 or Athlon options really are "noticibly better". Also, between the 3 Athlon options, does anyone have experience with 2 or all 3 of them to explain what the differences are? Are all of these clear at the upper ends of their magnification range or are any realistically capped at 20-22x max power? - let's call clear enough being able to see font 30-36 size text somewhere between 50 and 100yd.

--------------------------------
USE / PREFERENCES:
Will be used on a 22lr rifle shooting at around 1070-1080fps between 25/50yd out to 300yd typically but would love to try 350 or 400yds on steel if possible. Won't be using this optic forever, just need something to hold me over until I save for "premium glass". I understand and expect there to be some chromatic abberation and other issues at this price point and can live with it. Not strictly limited to matches, a lot of this will also just be for plinking around at miscellaneous targets from paper to small steels to golf ball sized objects, etc. Based on a ballistic calculator for 1070fps, it looks like I'm going to have about 98MOA of drop at 300yd, so 49 MOA (from 98/2 = 49) internal adjustment upwards + 20 MOA base + ~10MOA of hold over at around 25x = ~79 MOA minimum internal adjustment.

I do feel that better / clearer glass helps with 22LR shooting on paper a lot or at small targets in the distance so I will pay if it's noticibly better but worst case I just use my spotting scope when plinking. A small eye box really irks me and I would be willing to pay more for another scope if it's really bad on the SH4gen2. Prefer a Christmas tree type reticle with an open center and small dot, although a MIL/MOA dot reticle with intuitive subtensions (ex SWFA SS reticle) is fine too. Slight preference for MOA with 1/4 MOA clicks for slightly finer adjustments, but MIL vs MOA here is a very low priority consideration that will come last. Don't care about illumination at this price point. Zero stops nice but not needed.
