Question for the serious car restoration guys - rusty gas tank 1931 Model A

Given the depth of knowledge of folks here, I thought I would put this out for any suggestions, tips, etc. Friend agreed to help another friend's estate get a 1931 Model A running so it can be sold. Initially thought simple enough but as usual gas was left in tank (now evaporated) who knows how many years ago and tank is rusted but not obvious if any leaks. Now the hard part. Tank is also the cowl between hood and windshield so it's painted and part of body. And on top of that, apparently late 31s had fuel outlet in different place than previous and the model ended in 31 so very limited and unobtanium. So even if a correct tank can be found or earlier made to work, then comes tearing into the body and trying to match paint. All of which is turning into a major project for someone just trying to help out his friend's estate.

I know there's various products for cleaning/treating/sealing gas tanks but anyone familiar with any products/chemicals or processes which can be used to clean a tank like this in place? Volume is 11-12 gal and filling/draining should be doable. No one is trying to hide anything from potential buyers, just trying get it back into minimal running condition vs selling as is. And yes I know there are a zillion car forums out there.

Unconventional reloading technique?

Howdy folks, I have an interesting idea to save some money of sizing dies and was wondering if it's possible. Can you take the barrel off your rifle, I.e. an AI or terminus, and put a fired case into the chamber, take a ball peen hammer, and smack it medium hard to get your shoulder set back? Then for the neck sizing take said case and smack the neck with the hammer and expand it with the bullet?

The January 6 probe a year on: $500 million tax bill, 140 prosecutors for the 'biggest federal investigation in history' | Daily Mail Online

“Armed” in the case of January 6 meant that no firearms were used or even found among the protestors.

Of the 5 deaths, 4 were Trump supporters, including 14-year military veteran, unarmed, 110-pound female Ashli Babbitt; and a Capitol police officer Brian Sicknick, not murdered, but died tragically of a stroke the next day.

The prior 120 days of continuous rioting, looting, and arson by Black Lives Matter, Antifa, et al caused nearly $2 billion worth of property destruction and 28 people to be killed; including an 8 year old innocent child murdered by a stray bullet in Atlanta, GA. But, like Waco and Ruby Ridge, with women and children murdered by US Federal Agents, Leftist Law Enforcement PIGS - will be PIGS via weaponization of government.

The January 6 probe a year on: 140 prosecutors, agents from all 56 FBI field offices for the 'biggest federal investigation in history' and a $500 million tax bill for 700 suspects arrested

  • A year after Trump supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol, federal investigators are still hunting hundreds of people
  • 140 prosecutors are working on the investigation, said AG Merrick Garland
  • More than 725 individuals have been arrested and charged so far
  • Investigators have pored over 20,000 hours of footage and seized 2,000 device
  • AG Merrick Garland described the result as 'one of the largest, most complex, and most resource-intensive investigations in our history.'

Fox News presenter Tucker Carlson dedicated a monologue on Wednesday, the eve of the one-anniversary, to ridiculing Garland for saying he was hunting 'everyone who was responsible.'
'John Dillinger is laughing from the pit of hell,' he said.
'Jan. 6 trumped him, and it trumped the manhunt after 9/11.
'It trumps all manhunts. So people who were just standing there taking pictures on their phone got picked up by the FBI, some of them got sent to jail, but it’s not ending, there’s still more to come.'

Maggie’s 3rd Anniversary leather?

My wife wants me to pick out my gift for our 3rd anniversary, which traditionally is leather (somehow she ended up with diamonds).

I was thinking a nice Milt Sparks holster for my EDC Wather PPS, I would use it a lot, but that’s not a heirloom piece (I have all of my forever guns in leather).

My other thought was a rifle sling but it’s hard to beat those $15 rubber ones that don’t slip. Maybe there a custom sling maker out there?

Ammo pouch?

Any thoughts? Guns and leather seem to go hand in hand.

Thanks for all your suggestions in advance.

Tucker Carlson calls Ted Cruz a liar to his face for calling Jan. 6th protest a "terroristic attack on the Capital."

Tucker Carlson hammers Ted Cruz. Cruz waffles goes into panic mode and lies out his ass some more, saying he meant attacks on LE are terrorist attacks. Carslon makes him eat shit again by saying those are "assaults" not "terrorist attacks."

Cruz may have fuc't himself permanently for using the Left's narrative. Bastard.

The only terrorist attack was the cop murdering Ashli Babbitt.

Firearms SOLD: Sako TRG-22 .308

[SPF] my pre-2013 Sako TRG 22 in .308 Win. Black stock with 26” barrel. Purchased this used as a safe queen with pristine bolt (prior owner claimed 30 - 40 rounds) and have put less than 100 rounds through it. Selling because I’ve moved and no longer have easy access to the range where I was planning to use this. Amazing two-stage trigger! Overall excellent shape. Some normal signs of use, including small paint chip near trigger guard (see pic). Comes with one magazine.

Lots of expensive extras: Sako factory three-ring scope mount (~$400); Badger muzzle brake (~$130); several Terje Andre Fjørtoft accessories (~ $450 for all of them) including oversized safety selector (can operate safety without putting your finger in the trigger guard), adjustable butt plate with cushier Tikka recoil pad, adjustable cheek riser (slides side to side only, not installed), and bag rider; factory Sako cheek piece risers (~$65); adjustable sling mount (~$40); owner’s manual.
Here's a link to Sako’s info on this firearm: https://www.sako.fi/en-us/rifles/sako-trg/trg-22

Asking $[SPF], includes shipping in hard case to your FFL. Located in SoCal. Please PM if you have any questions and thanks for looking!

Brass life: How to determine max charge so primer pockets survive a sufficient nr of reloads (at least 10)?

I realize that new brass benefits from fireforming to your chamber, using a medium load that does not blow out the primer pocket on the first firing. The first firing hardens the case head and buys you longer brass life.

My question is how do you decide on the powder load for fire forming: Two grains above book minimum or two of three grains below book max?

Also: Do you guys measure the expansion in the web diameter, using a micrometer that can read accurately down to 0.1 thou? Measure before you FL resize or after? That seems to change the measurement by 1-1.5 thou.

How much web expansion do you expect to see on the first firing, and how much on subsequent firings? What is too much?

Idea being that we figure out how fast we can run, and still allow the LRP primer pockets to survive at least 8-10 reloads. Using Norma and Nosler brass in 300 WSM. So Lapua/ADG/Peterson are not available.

One trick i read about is to take a set of pre-weighed containers of powder to the range, say 2.0 grains apart (like 64.0, 66.0, 68.0 gn), starting middle of range, and sacrifice one case by loading it with successively higher powder loads at the range until [Edit:] the primer gets way too easy to seat (or falls out after seating). [I guess the benefit of using the same case is that you can feel how primer seating force reduced at every reload, and all of this is of course done in one trip to the range. And you lose one case in the process, not multiple cases.] Presumably using a neck sizer and an arbor press, and a priming tool. Has anybody tried that? [Not recommending this to anybody, and i agree it sounds rather unsafe!]

World's stupidest cop murders a guy for New Year's

Yeah, this story is a turd sandwich. In Cleveland, what will turn out to be a convicted felon was firing "his wife's" AR-15 in the air when a random jackass with a badge shot him thru a 6 ft solid wood fence.

Jackass with badge has no idea who is back there, if they are kids or old women. The only thing he knew for certain was that the person was firing into the air, as is typical in the ghetto on holidays. He could clearly see he was in no danger whatsoever. He definitely had no idea who or what was firing so he mag dumps a section of fence, killing an adult male resident of the home and then proceeds to terrorize his family.

Cops then lie about the entire event and go with the usual horseshit about "feared for his life" and justify the murderers actions. Video is released later and proves to a 100% certainty the cops lied about the entire event from start to finish. He did not confront "someone with a weapon" in any way, he saw the muzzle blast of a firearm shooting skyward over a fence and then unloaded on the fence like an idiot.

This is almost as good as the recent video of a jackass cop driving on the sidewalk while chasing a hood rat and mowing down a pedestrian on the sidewalk. Then of course lying about it and doing absolutely nothing to aid the guy he just killed until his boss shows up and orders him to pretend to care and do fake CPR until the fire department arrives.

I'd rather back the blue than let criminals run wild on the streets. But they do a good job of demonstrating how little they value any life but their own and that is a bit of a turn off to me. I don't want to be shot in the back of the head at the gun club because twitchy the cop pulled up and "saw a man with a gun" or another one of their retard excuses.

Vortex Razor HD Gen III 6-36x56

Starting a new thread since the other one got quite messy with a lot of assumptions ;)

Here was my at-home vid. I got a bit of time behind it and the glass is better than I expected thus far. The turret design is one of the best out there...and at least it is a little bit lighter than the Gen 2 ;)

We should have them available to ship any day!

Feedback BMitchell448 scammer / account hacked by scammer

Hi guys,

Seems I got scammed out of $110 by BMitchell448 - post was offering up GWT 338LM brass (looking back it was definitely cheaper than normal), and I looked at his feedback and it seemed good.

Well now, the ad is deleted, and I noticed that the ad was a copy of one posted over a year ago by another member.

I'm assuming his account has been hacked.

Just wanted to warn people to look out - I'm just glad it wasn't more money, but just hoping to keep this guy from getting anyone else.

Nightforce scope upgrade - Worth it???

I'm currently shooting a Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5CM as my main long range rifle. It's pretty well kitted out, but I want to upgrade my scope. Currently it sports a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50mm mil-dot scope. It's a passable scope, but I bought it several years ago when I was much less knowledgeable about scope features (this one has mil dots but is MOA adjustable). I've got some bonus money coming soon and I want to upgrade to something a little sharper, stronger and with mil-mil adjustment. After taking several long range shooting courses, I'm sure I want the milliradian adjustments, preferably 0.1mrad/click.

I'm looking at the Nightforce NX8 4-32x50 (30mm tube) with the Mil-XT reticle. It's running about $2,150 everywhere I check. Is this scope worth the cost? Or is there something better suited to my rifle and/or long range shooting in general? I'd like to keep it at that price point or cheaper... I'd have a tougher time explaining $7,000+ for a Hensoldt ;)

For what it's worth, I'm spotting with a Bushnell 8-40x60 LMSS2 with the H322 reticle. Is the Mil-XT reticle compatible with the Horus grid? Do the function similarly? Or should I find a scope specifically with the Horus grid?

Thanks!
