Rifle Scopes ZCO 5-27 vs March 5-42

Looking at upgrading my element theos to some alpha level glass.

I’m interested in either the ZCO 5-27 or the March high master 5-42. Also debating the ZCO 8-40, but it’s gigantic and I don’t shoot ELR. March is more compact so the extra magnification is just a bonus.

I’d be looking at the MPCT1 or FML3 reticles. I don’t find any use for a tree…

No experience with anything ZCO. I did have a 4.5-28x high master at one point and the glass very nice for its size.

Anyone have experience comparing the ZCO offerings to the updated March high masters with shuriken turrets?

Report: Trump Transition Team Looks to Pull U.S. out of W.H.O. ‘On Day One’.

The U.S. will exit the globalist World Health Organization (W.H.O.) on day one of President-elect Donald Trump’s new administration taking power, a report Sunday predicts.
The U.S. is the W.H.O.’s largest single donor. It provides the home to over 8,000 career bureaucrats with about 16 percent of its budget, which in 2024 stood at U.S.$6.83 billion.
It has previously been criticised by conservative voices for its extraordinary drain on U.S. taxpayer funds while Trump has called it a slave to China’s own global ambitions.
According to the Financial Times, members of Trump’s team told the experts of their intention to announce a withdrawal from the Geneva-based health body on January 20 — inauguration day.
The departure would remove the W.H.O.’s biggest source of funds in one fell swoop. The FT report notes the withdrawal will complete a process Trump started last time he was in office:
In 2020, Trump initiated the process to leave the WHO as Covid-19 spread, accusing the agency of being under China’s control. But the process was never finished and his successor Joe Biden restarted relations with the agency on his first day of office in 2021.
Experts have been told that some in Trump’s team want to move much faster this time around after initiating the process immediately.
Ashish Jha, Biden’s former White House coronavirus response co-ordinator and dean of Brown University’s school of public health, told the outlet the transition team wanted Trump to withdraw on the first day because of the “symbolism” of reversing Biden’s own inauguration-day move.
“There are lots of people who are going to be part of the inner circle of the administration who do not trust the W.H.O. and want to symbolically show on day one that they are out,” he said.
The Trump transition team did not comment directly on the potential withdrawal. One person familiar with the plans told the FT: “The same W.H.O. that we left in the first administration? It seems like we wouldn’t much care what they have to say.”
Trump previously criticized the W.H.O. for siding with China despite heavy criticism for their lack of transparency about the coronavirus and its spread and origins, as Breitbart News reported.
“They seem to be very China-centric,” he said in April, 2020. “That’s a nice way of saying it, but they seem to be very China-centric, and they seem to err always on the side of China.”

AND THEN THE UNITED NATIONS!

Shortening .22 Rifle Barrel...Any Down Side?

I'm afraid I'm going to start an argument, but anyway...is there any good reason not to shorten a Savage A22 from 22 inches to 16.25 and thread it for a silencer?

My understanding is that velocity pretty much tops out at around 16", so it's not clear what the other 6 inches are for. Shortening the barrel would compensate for the added length of the can, and it would make the barrel more rigid, possibly improving the accuracy a little.

I have read that a long sight radius gives better accuracy, but it kind of sounds like a load to me. When I use a scope, the sight radius is only a few inches, and I get better accuracy than I would with iron sights. The scope can't tell a short rifle from a long one. It will work on either.

Seems to me the problem is fat sights combined with a short sight radius. Fat open sights are harder to use accurately, at least for me. Seems to me I could change the open sights to compensate for a short barrel. And I probably wouldn't use them anyway.

I am trying to be better about killing squirrels in my yard. They have cost me a fortune, and it's time to take the gloves off. I plan to kill them whenever I get the chance, and it would be nice to do it without ear muffs or a 4-foot-long rifle.

Since this is a cheap gun, I would like to do the work myself, but it looks like it's complicated. I would have to turn between centers because my lathe is so big, and I am not sure how to get the bore concentric with the spindle. I am reading up. Apparently, you can't just shove a live center into the muzzle.

I would also like to reattach the front sight, so I would have to drill and tap two holes in the finished barrel.

T3X / Proof combo from SJA , mdt chassis, 10 and 12 round mags, i have over 100 rounds of 90 grain handloads. I have ran this gun the last 1.5 years coyote hunting and taken hundred of yotes pigs and bobcats. I’d have to count brass, between 4/500 rounds down the pipe. Will entertain trades for a nice 22 arc AR , or 6 Arc ar, or other chassis bolt guns. I can add cash, or other guns that i don’t have listed.

Advice on DMR optics setup

Hey guys I have a nice compass lake upper that is very accurate. I have a 4-16 atacr in the highest tier one mount and an xlr tr2 stock/buffer tube set as low as possible and I have to really smash my face down to get decent eye relief and even then it’s not vey good. I would love to make this setup work but I think the only way is a higher mount which I’m not sure exists. Open to other stock suggestions as well. Thanks

Scranton Finally Turning on Biden as Officials Demand Removal of His Name from Landmark

President Joe Biden has proudly referenced his roots in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on countless occasions.

But after he pardoned a judge involved in a cash-for-kids program that jailed thousands of juveniles in northeastern Pennsylvania, the Electric City is no longer feeling that spark of love.

The newly elected Pennsylvania Republican State Rep. Brenda Pugh called on officials in Scranton to remove Biden’s name from expressways labeled in his honor after he pardoned former Luzerne County Judge Michael Conahan.

That now-disgraced official was convicted after taking kickbacks in exchange for sending juveniles to jail for committing minor crimes, or committing no crime whatsoever, according to PAHomepage.

Pugh said the fact that Biden pardoned Conahan was a disgrace that merits renaming the “President Joe Biden Expressway,” originally named for the commander-in-chief by the Scranton City Council in 2021.

“Conahan’s conduct is forever a blight on Pennsylvania and is a slap in the face to the victims and their families who deserve justice to be served for his atrocious crimes,” Pugh wrote, per PAHomepage.

“His clemency places complicity and a stamp of approval on his behavior,” she continued. “Children are among the most vulnerable Pennsylvanians. This decision is nothing short of a travesty and his clemency is a miscarriage of justice.”

Pugh is far from the only Pennsylvania official to express concern over the presidential pardon.

Even Pennsylvania Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro cringed at the pardon of the corrupt official.

“I’ll offer these thoughts as an outsider, not privy to all the information he looked at, but I do feel strongly that President Biden got it absolutely wrong and created a lot of pain here in northeastern Pennsylvania,” Shapiro said last week, per the Pennsylvania Capital-Star.

“Some children took their lives because of this. Families were torn apart,” Shapiro said of the original scandal. “There was all kinds of mental health issues and anguish that came as a result of these corrupt judges deciding they wanted to make a buck off a kid’s back.”

It is indeed rather difficult to see why Biden deserves to have any highways named in his honor.

This cash-for-kids scheme was clearly the last straw for at least some in Scranton.

But there are plenty of reasons to remove his name from that highway and other infrastructure in the city named for him.

Even beyond his mismanagement of the economy, his overseeing of several new wars around the globe, and his clear mental decline covered up by staffers over the past four years, Biden and his family are themselves likely corrupt, as their foreign business dealings in places like Ukraine and China would indicate.

Our outgoing president is no fan of justice.

Highways should simply not be named for those who have problems staying on the straight and narrow.

Police Arrest TikTok ‘Prankster’ For Spraying Poison All Over Food in Walmart, Causing $1 Million in Damage, Posting Video of Crime to Social Media.

0-41-1200x630.jpg
TikTok users Charles Smith sprays poison all over food in Walmart

A so-called TikTok ‘prankster’ known for wreaking havoc on the public for social media views, was arrested for spraying poison all over food in a Mesa, Arizona, Walmart.

The suspect, 27-year-old Charles Smith, was stupid enough to video his face while committing the crime. He then uploaded the video of himself committing the felony to social media.

According to court documents, Smith went back inside Walmart 10 minutes after he committed the crime and “attempted to collect the items he sprayed.”

Smith wheeled some of the poisoned items to the back of Walmart.

Walmart was forced to remove nearly $1 million in damaged food/suspected damaged food after Charles Smith ran through the store and sprayed poison all over the place.

Mesa police arrested Charles Smith on Saturday and charged him with Introducing Poison (felony), Criminal Damage (misdemeanor), Endangerment (misdemeanor), Theft (misdemeanor).

12 News reported:
According to police, Smith entered the Walmart on Stapley Drive “intending to film pranks for social media” on Dec. 19 around 8:30 p.m., but instead took a can of the bug killer from a shelf without paying for it and sprayed its contents on vegetables, fruit and rotisserie chickens available for sale.
On Smith’s recent stories page, it shows two separate videos of him putting the items that he claims were sprayed with bug killer in a cart and then pushing that cart filled with items into what appears to be a truck. One of the captions claimed he threw away the items, even though the video does not show that.
In court documents, police said Smith returned 10 minutes later and “attempted to collect the items he had sprayed,” much like in his recent videos. However, police said Smith did not throw away said items but rather wheeled them to the back of the store, and it is unknown whether or not Smith was able to collect all of the items he sprayed.
The rest of the products that Walmart removed in total cost $931,000, court documents state.
“It should be noted that the time between when the defendant sprayed the items to when he placed them in the cart, left plenty of time for customers to take the contaminated items and purchase them,” court documents state.

THIS MORON IS A SPECIAL LEVEL OF STOOPID!!

You Can’t Make This Up: U.S. Navy Shoots Down Its Own F/A-18 Super Hornet Fighter Jet in Apparent ‘Friendly Fire’ Incident in Red Sea!

A U.S. Navy guided-missile cruiser mistakenly shot down an American F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet over the Red Sea in an apparent “friendly fire” incident.
The two-seat F/A-18F Super Hornet, assigned to the “Red Rippers” of Strike Fighter Squadron 11 from Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia, had just launched from the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman.
The USS Gettysburg, part of the same carrier strike group, erroneously identified the aircraft as a hostile target and engaged it, leading to its destruction.
“The guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg, which is part of the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group, mistakenly fired on and hit the F/A-18,” Central Command said in a statement.
The Navy’s Central Command confirmed that both pilots ejected safely, with one sustaining minor injuries.

AP reported:
From the military’s description, the aircraft shot down was a two-seat F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet assigned to the “Red Rippers” of Strike Fighter Squadron 11 out of Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia.
It wasn’t immediately clear how the Gettysburg could mistake an F/A-18 for an enemy aircraft or missile, particularly as ships in a battle group remain linked by both radar and radio communication.
However, Central Command said that warships and aircraft earlier shot down multiple Houthi drones and an anti-ship cruise missile launched by the rebels. Incoming hostile fire from the Houthis has given sailors just seconds to make decisions in the past.
Since the Truman’s arrival, the U.S. has stepped up its airstrikes targeting the Houthis and their missile fire into the Red Sea and the surrounding area. However, the presence of an American warship group may spark renewed attacks from the rebels, like what the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower saw earlier this year. That deployment marked what the Navy described as its most intense combat since World War II.

The downed aircraft, assigned to the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group, was conducting operations in a region increasingly destabilized by Iranian-backed Houthi rebels from Yemen.
According to the US CENTCOM:
“U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces conducted precision airstrikes against a missile storage facility and a command-and-control facility operated by Iran-backed Houthis within Houthi-controlled territory in Sana’a, Yemen, on Dec. 21 Yemen time.
CENTCOM forces conducted the deliberate strikes to disrupt and degrade Houthi operations, such as attacks against U.S. Navy warships and merchant vessels in the Southern Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb, and Gulf of Aden.
During the operation, CENTCOM forces also shot down multiple Houthi one way attack uncrewed aerial vehicles (OWA UAV) and an anti-ship cruise missile (ASCM) over the Red Sea.
The operation involved U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy assets, including F/A-18s.
The strike reflects CENTCOM’s ongoing commitment to protect U.S. and coalition personnel, regional partners, and international shipping.”

Critics have attributed these absurd mishaps to the U.S. Navy’s adoption of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs.
According to the Heritage Foundation, the Navy missed its recruiting goals by 7,000 personnel last year and has reduced its force by 21,000 sailors since 2021. Additionally, the Navy’s Military Sealift Command plans to sideline 17 logistic ships due to a lack of qualified merchant mariners, raising concerns about the impact of DEI policies on recruitment and retention.
Furthermore, some lawmakers and veterans argue that DEI programs divert resources from essential military functions and foster division within the ranks.
They cite data indicating that 62% of active-duty military members believe the military has become politicized, and 65% would advise their own children against joining.
These concerns are amplified by the Pentagon’s request for $140 million to expand DEI initiatives in fiscal year 2024, up from $86.5 million the previous year.

Joe Biden Left Grieving Families Waiting for Three Hours Prior to Dignified Transfer of Kabul Bombing Victims — While He Napped on the Plane.

kabul-airport-victims-1024x571.jpg

The Kabul Airport victims – made possible by the unapologetic Biden-Harris regime.
Joe Biden met with the families of the fallen US service members killed by a suicide bomber at Kabul Airport during their dignified transfer at Dover airbase.
During the ceremony, Joe Biden famously checked the time on his watch before the bodies were brought out.
Because of Joe Biden’s incompetence, 13 US service members were killed in a suicide blast in Kabul by a terrorist who was released from Bagram prison weeks earlier.
Biden would not allow any media present while he met with the gold star families.
Joe Biden met the pregnant widow of one of the fallen Marines and it didn’t go well, according to the Washington Post.
20-year-old Rylee McCollum was a Marine from Bondurant, Wyoming, and only three weeks into his first deployment when he was killed in the Kabul blast.
McCollum graduated high school two years ago and was three weeks away from becoming a father.
McCollum’s grief-stricken mother went off on Joe Biden and blamed him for her son’s death.
But now we know there is more to the story.
The grieving families accuse Joe Biden of napping for three hours before meeting with the families.
Now they are speaking out.
The Daily Mail reported:
On August 26, a Taliban suicide bomber capitalized on the busy crowds, killing 13 US Servicemembers and over 170 Afghans.
While Biden was absent from the withdrawal planning, he did show up to greet the caskets of the US Servicemen and woman who were killed, infamously checking his watch on the tarmac before their coffins were brought out.
It was his second insult to their families that day, according to the sister of Rylee McCollum, one of the men who died.
‘(Biden) made us wait an extra three hours to receive the bodies of our dead family members because he couldn’t pull it together,’ Roice McCollum told DailyMail.com.
Roice said she and others were waiting for Biden to appear when a military officer told her he was napping on his plane.
Christy Shamblin, the mother-in-law of Marine Sgt. Nicole Gee, and Darin Hoover, the father of Staff Sgt. Taylor Hoover, who were also killed in the Kabul blast, told DailyMail.com that their families were also left waiting on the tarmac.
‘We sat in that office for what seemed like an eternity waiting on the doddering old fool,’ Hoover recalled.

Trump Warns He Will Take Back the Panama Canal Unless They Stop ‘Ripping Off’ America and Start Countering China’s Influence.

Donald Trump has warned that the United States could seize back the Panama Canal unless the country agrees to lower its costs and counter Chinese influence.
In a post on Truth Social, the incoming president urged the Panamanian government to start taking care of the canal or face the consequences.
He wrote:
The United States has a vested interest in the secure, efficient, and reliable operation of the Panama Canal, and that was always understood. We would and will NEVER let it fall into the wrong hands! It was not given for the benefit of others, but merely as a token of cooperation with us and Panama.
If the principles, both moral and legal, of this magnanimous gesture of giving are not followed, then we will demand that the Panama Canal be returned to us, in full, and without question. To the Officials of Panama, please be guided accordingly!
Trump later followed up with another post explaining its role preserving America’s economic and national security:
The Panama Canal is considered a VITAL National Asset for the United States, due to its critical role to America’s Economy and National Security. A secure Panama Canal is crucial for U.S. Commerce, and rapid deployment of the Navy, from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and drastically cuts shipping times to U.S. ports.
The United States is the Number One user of the Canal, with over 70 percent of all transits heading to, or from, U.S. ports. Considered one of the Wonders of the Modern World, the Panama Canal opened for business 110 years ago, and was built at HUGE cost to the United States in lives and treasure – 38,000 American men died from infected mosquitos in the jungles during construction.
Teddy Roosevelt was President of the United States at the time of its building, and understood the strength of Naval Power and Trade. When President Jimmy Carter foolishly gave it away, for One Dollar, during his term in Office, it was solely for Panama to manage, not China, or anyone else.
It was likewise not given for Panama to charge the United States, its Navy, and corporations, doing business within our Country, exorbitant prices and rates of passage. Our Navy and Commerce have been treated in a very unfair and injudicious way.
The fees being charged by Panama are ridiculous, especially knowing the extraordinary generosity that has been bestowed to Panama by the U.S. This complete “rip-off” of our Country will immediately stop….
Panamanian officials have yet to respond to Trump’s warning, although it will be taken extremely seriously given the outsized role in plays in the country’s economy.
During his first term in office, Trump met with former Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela where he mentioned America’s involvement in the canal’s construction.
“The Panama Canal is doing quite well,” Trump remarked during the meeting. “I think we did a good job building it, right?”
“Yeah. One hundred years ago,” said Valera, to which Trump responded: “We did a very good job.”
