Where's the ammo shortage ?

Where I live ammo is on the shelfs everywhere that I can tell. Cabellas, buds, sportsman's, rural king and even Walmart. All over YouTube land it's oma gawd, no ammo anywhere. It's almost like the Canadian prepper fear monger bullshit. Either way if people ain't got what they need by now they probably ain't ever going to.

I Need prefit barrel education 6.5cm

So I have a custom action here and I need to put on a prefit barrel. I've been out of the game with all these new products. I've been shooting a Gap M40a3 .308 for like 14+ years. But I've been out of shooting for a few years. I need help.

1. Barrel contour. I'm building a gun for tactical comps style with alot of humping around more then PRS style shoots. I'm shooting with a surefire suppressor. So I need a barrel contour that will be rigid but not incredibly heavy.

I'm used to the 24" m24 barrel but it's still a beast going up a mountain.

Whats the advantage of mid Palma, vs heavy Palma, marksman, heavy varmint. On paper they are all within a 1/2-1lbs of each other depending on length. Does contour effect stiffness, barrel harmonics..etc....??

2. What barrel length maximizes the 6.5 creedmoor? I'm ok going to a 26" but with a can it's a large package....and I don't know how much one looses going down to a 24" in terms of velocity. Proof makes some nice steel barrels but ,-+7lbs is heavy with their comp. Contour ...I figure if I have to shoot PRS I could add weights ...

3. 6.5 creedmoor chambers....most smiths offer saami spec chambers but I've seen a few called match chambers. I'm reloading 140 and 147gr. Pills so I'm not sure of advantage of one vs another chamber.

Sorry for the long winded questions.

Help with hunting load

So I’m trying to work up an elk load for my 308 with 165gr partition and Varget. Did my initial testing today and it looks like I found a nice wide accuracy node from 43.5 to 44.1 with.3gr increments. All 3 loads printed sub MOA groups with POI shifting less than 1” left to right. 44.0 grain would give me around 2690fps. I was hoping for more like 2750ish but everything in that range was somewhat erratic. 45gr printed a ragged hole but the load below and above printed 1.5moa groups. Do I take stable and accurate load and sacrifice 50-60fps or should I play with the seating depth and try to get better velocity?

Off-Duty Pilot Facing 83 Attempted Murder Charges For Trying to Shut Off Plane Engines Mid-Flight Took Psychedelic Mushrooms

npayq4qfiz0.jpg

Joseph David Emerson

Joseph David Emerson, the off-duty pilot who tried to shut off the plane’s engines midflight took psychedelic mushrooms, court documents say.

As previously reported, an Alaska Airlines flight was diverted to Portland Sunday night over a “credible security threat” related to an authorized person in the cockpit.

The airline said the authorized occupant was sitting in the flight deck jump seat.

“On Oct. 22, Alaska Airlines Flight 2059 operated by Horizon Air from Everett, WA (PAE) to San Francisco, CA (SFO) reported a credible security threat related to an authorized occupant in the flight deck jump seat,′ Alaska Airlines said. “The crew secured the aircraft without incident.”

It turns out the man who posed the security threat was an off-duty pilot.

The two pilots in the cockpit immediately jumped into action, neutralized the threat and removed the man from the cockpit.

Emerson, 44, was arrested and charged with attempted murder after he tried to shut off the airplane’s engines mid-flight.

Emerson was charged with 83 counts of attempted murder, 83 counts of reckless endangerment (state charges), and one count of endangering an aircraft (federal charge), NBC News reported.

“The jump seat occupant unsuccessfully attempted to disrupt the operation of the engines,” Alaska Airlines said. “The Horizon Captain and First Officer quickly responded, engine power was not lost and the crew secured the aircraft without incident.”

According to court documents, Emerson told officers he took psychedelic mushrooms and hadn’t slept for 40 hours.

Excerpt from KATU:

The off-duty pilot facing 83 attempted murder charges after he allegedly tried to shut off the engines of a plane mid-flight on Sunday night admitted to taking psychedelic mushrooms, new arrest documents claim.
In the official criminal complaint, Emerson is stated to have been sitting in the cockpit’s jumpseat when, after chatting with pilots for several minutes, suddenly said “I’m not okay,” before pulling the handles of the fire suppression system, which are used to stop engine fires and shut off fuel to the engines.
One of the pilots grabbed Emerson while the other declared an inflight emergency. He initially resisted, but records say he settled down after a roughly 30-second struggle.
The court documents state Emerson wasn’t able to fully pull down the handles and fully shut off the engines. If he had, “then it would have shut down the hydraulics and the fuel to the engines, turning the aircraft into a glider within seconds.”
Witnesses said Emerson peacefully walked to the back of the plane, and once seated in the back he reportedly told a flight attendant “you need to cuff me right now or it’s going to be bad.” They put his wrists in a pair of flex cuffs.
During a police interview, Emerson said he was having “a nervous breakdown,” and hadn’t slept for 40 hours, and felt dehydrated and tired. He admitted to pulling the handles and said he did it because “I thought I was dreaming and I just wanna wake up.”

New Sniper Rifle .308 or 7prc

I'm looking to build a new rifle that looks like the FBI HRT rifle and I know it's chambered in 308 but I have a few of those and some 6.5creed so I was thinking about possibly using the 7prc. Does anyone have any experience with this cartridge and the rifle has a 24in barrel would I need to make the barrel longer since it's a 7prc?

If interested I was going to use a GA templar v2 action Mcmillian A3-5 stock and Bartlein 5r barrel and trigger tech trigger

Thanks for any info

New Scam so beware

A New Scam is emerging in the For Sale Section.

If you reply to the member, I'll take it; they are creating new accounts that look like the member's name and then contacting you immediately to sell it to you.

I found about four linked accounts doing this, so they are scraping the PX and creating user names for the people selling.

Buyers be especially aware this is organized crime, and they are funded and resourceful.

This is zero recourse, but to ban the accounts and play whack a troll with it, they want to hurt the site and you so be careful

The Rules of the Southern life (if this don’t incite a riot, you men are asleep).

Caveat (Ilike dem big words dont y’all? ). Its gotten a bit calm around here lately what with war in the east, hiden biden trying to win votes by helping the Israelites, and the congress don’t know what its doing. SOS. (Same old Shit).

To, to liven things up a bit, and see just how thick my skin is…here goes

(My favorite is #6).

Rules of the Southern Lifestyle

All good Southerners already know these, but in fairness to those Yankees who came to stay down here:

1. Don't order a steak at a Waffle House. They serve breakfast 24 hrs a day, so let them cook something they know.

2. Don't laugh at people's names. Merleen, Bodie, Luther Ray, Tammy Ann, Mari Beth, and Inez have all been known to whip a man's butt for less than that.

3. Don't order a bottle of pop or a can of soda -- this can lead to a merciless beating. Down South it's called Coke, even if you want a Pepsi.

4. Don't show allegiances to any college football squad that isn't an SEC team. All the others are a bunch of wusses who get to play Wyoming every week.

5. Don't refer to Southerners as a bunch of hillbillies. Many of us are/have been more literate than you (e.g. Welty, Williams, Faulkner), better educated, and generally much nicer to boot. We've got plenty of business sense (e.g.Turner Broadcasting, MTV, and Netscape). Naturally, we can have lapses of judgment from time to time (e.g. Clinton, Duke). We don't care if you think we're dumb, we know better!

6. We are fully aware that the humidity is high. Quit your fussing, spend your money, and leave if you can't handle it.

7. Don't order wheat toast at the Cracker Barrel. If you do this, everyone will know you're from Ohio. Eat the biscuits like God intended and for goodness sake, don't put sugar in your grits.

8. Don't attempt to fake a Southern accent. Nothing will incite a riot faster.

9. Don't go around talking about how much better it is back home. If you don't like it here, take your Yankee butt back home.

10. We don't play lacrosse, hockey, or any of those other sissy Northern games, so don't ask about the scores. We...simply...don't...care.

11. We know how to speak proper English, we talk this way because we want to and we can. It's like playing jazz, you have to know how to do it right first.

12. Last, but by no means least...DO NOT try to tell us how to Bar-B-Q. This could lead to permanent expulsion and revocation of your work visa. Consider yourself lucky that we let you come down here in the first place. Don't push your luck!

Photos Maggot: Get In Here!

@Maggot

Borrowed from a friend a rubber maggot and put it on my plate after my wife made Italian beef in crockpot. 🤣 I let her pick up the plates after supper so she could witness it without a whole lot of bravado and gauge her reaction. 😝

I don’t think I’ll have sex for a while, but I figured you’d like the story!

Halloween Costumes?

Anyone dress up? Do anything fun? I'm always looking for something clever. Figured if I start planning now, I can clean up the contests next year.

Made a sash, printed the patches, bought the soda cap button and just attached a bunch of stuff to a backpack. Won a total of $800.
This yeah I was Toad and made my dog dress up like Yoshi.

PayPal PSA

Around an hour ago my PayPal account got hacked. It didn't concern me at first when someone added another MasterCard to the account because it cannot be used on my bank account. My bank doesn't use MasterCard so there should not be any link to my bank account. Then I got a surprise when two payments went off my actual bank account. Directly after, my PayPal account was closed.

First I tried to contact PayPal to log a dispute and report fraud. Turns out if your account is closed, you cannot log in and cannot report shit.

Next tried the bank contact centre. They first directed me to a link where I have to select the card that the disputed payment was made from. Now, because the payment was made from a card that is not linked to my account I cannot report the fraud to the bank. Best help they can give me is to contact the fraud department during office hours.

So, those of you that have PayPal accounts, I suggest you close them now before you walk the same route as me.

Rifle Tuning and Technology?

IMG_9610.jpeg

With all the apps and devices (LabRadar, Magnetospeed, Garmen, etc…), plus the barrel tuners available to the masses, exotic stock materials, ballistic apps, etc. has anyone tried tuning their rifle itself with any acoustic devices?
These are sound recordings of my B14-R dryfired on a spent casing. Left to Right are
1. With action screws torque tuned to best groups and any distance with multiple ammo.
2. With muzzle thread cover removed (haven’t tested groups).
3. Hera forward blow compensator (3” long steel).
4. WarHog compensator.

With compensators installed, there are huge amounts of vertical stringing.
All rounds fired were recorded from chronograph to correlate disparity with grouping and velocity variations.

Top tier 6mm ARC barrels

Against my better judgement I want to put together a 6mm ARC. I’ll be rebarreling one of my Larue Match uppers that has a 13” HG and will be running a Superlative GB that likely won’t fit in the rail so it needs to be a rifle +1 gas system to sit out in front of the HG. I’d like to stick to an 18” barrel. Proof makes exactly what I want and is on the shelf and I haven’t totally decided against one, but with some of their recent QC I’m thinking about trying something else.

What I want: high quality barrel preferably cut rifled 18” .750 rifle + 1 5/8-24 threads.

What I don’t want: Garbage. Nothing from Faxon, BA, Rainier, etc. I don’t mind a wait but I also don’t want to wait a year for a barrel.

Normally I’d get a Craddock but they don’t offer rifle +1 in an 18” and don’t offer Rock Creek in an 18” and I’d prefer not a Bartlein.

Keystone does Kriegers which is high on my list but I haven’t called yet to ask about length and gas system options and they don’t list it on the site that I can find.

CLE does what I want in a Douglas option which I would be ok with but I’d prefer a cut rifled barrel. Not sure if they can do a Krieger since they don’t list them on the site for 6ARC.

Are there any others I should be looking at?

Night Vision Scanning / spotting with a thermal scope?

Who has a thermal scope that they use as a handheld scanner?
I have a Bering Super Yoter 50 on my rifle that I really like. While not really designed as a scanner, it seems compact enough to be handy. Would it be dumb to just buy a second one and use it as a scanner?

Pros:
- Familiar controls
- Backup / loaner weapon sight

Cons:
- Ergonomics?
