Accuracy International Rifle as a F-Class Rifle????

Can an Accuracy Internatonal rifle be set up to shoot F-Class competition.?I have an AI-AT and a AI-AX, both 308 with a 6.5 Creedmoor barrel also. I know this is not ideal. I have no illusions of being competitive,BUT, I am retired, in my 70's and not interested in buying another rifle. I would either use one of my barrels with muzzle brake removed or buy a new barrel specifically for this purpose. My goal, get to shoot at long ranges. and learn some wind reading skills.

Thanks for any advice.

Fishing Kayak recommendations.

I always said I'd get a boat when I moved to an environment that it would actually be worth it. Moved to Florida from Colorado just over a year ago and was considering getting a boat. But, boats are expensive and when I actually think about how I'd use that boat, I've come to the conclusion that I probably don't really want or need a full on boat. The only activities I see me doing in a boat is fishing and exploring the waterways. I had a kayak in Colorado that I'd do exactly that with and it was great. Easy to store, easy to launch, inexpensive, and was able to get into all the shallow, narrow areas I wanted to go. My only issue was that it was limited on space and I couldn't stand. It was around that time that fishing out of a kayak was becoming much more popular and the industry was beginning to build kayaks that were geared more towards fishing, i.e. stand up kayaks. Then the peddle drive kayaks started showing up. These piqued my interest but I began shooting more and fishing less. Now they've taken the paddle kayak to a new level with hybrid peddle/electric drives or full on electric drives. This is awesome because it gives me the ability to go much farther and stay out longer without getting tired and trolling much easier while handling the fishing rod.

So, who has a peddle/hybrid drive kayak and what do you recommend? Initially when these were just becoming popular, the Hobbies where the goto for peddle drive but in my recent research and the addition of electric powered drives the options have really opened up. At this point I'm really interested in the Old Towns offerings. I've seen a few others but Old Town seems to have the hybrid peddle drive/electric dialed in. Also, the kayak I did have was an Old Town Vapor and really liked the balance of space and efficiency for paddling.

The Old Town Sportsman Bigwater EDPL+ 132 has my attention. I'd prefer a 10 foot kayak but there doesn't seem to be an option in the EDPL+ just the PDL. Does the EDPL+ offer much of an advantage over the EDP? What other brands should I consider?

Pics for fun.

Old Town Vapor. My original kayak.

Between 4 options…

Hey guys, I’m trying to pick between the following 4 scopes for my SPR build. I’d like something not only capable, but super solid because I’m not that gentle on my gear. Please let me know which you’d run. If you have better options around the $1,500 range, please share.

Vortex Razor HD Gen II 3-18x50

Burris Xtreme Tactical XTR III 5.5-30x56

Steiner T6Xi 3-18x56

CZ457 light strikes, high power spring or modified firing pin?

My CZ457 is experiencing light strikes with this new case of Eley Match. I think Eley might have changes something on new productions, the case head looks noticeable flatter and wider than the old ones.

My question is, to get better ignition, should I get a higher power firing pin spring or the modified firing pin based on y'alls experience?

Thanks!

My 6GT AR-10

Just thought I would share my recent project that I've been working on.

I've had this rifle for quite some time now and when the barrel finally gave up I felt like I wanted to do something different. I've recently started competing in some PRS matches and thought it might be fun to see what I could do with my gas gun, so I decided to go with 6GT for my cartridge choice.

The rifle started life as an Armalite AR-10T with a 24" kreiger barrel. And no matter how hard I tried I just couldn't get the performance out of it that I felt like it was capable of. And for that reason I've been on this mission to make this thing shoot the way I think it should. So starting with the barrel, I ordered a Bartlein blank and a Lija barrel extension. I took the time to smooth and polish the extension and then took everything to my well trusted friend and gunsmith (as I don't have my own lathe yet) to get cut and chambered. We had decided to go with a 24" length and turned the shoulder for the gas block to rifle+1. I was beyond happy with the job. But, one thing we found along the way that wasn't until about 100 rounds went through was that with the eld-m's I had no problem chambering and cycling, but when my big lot of bergers came in they would refuse to feed.
The culprit turned out to be the bevel around the back of the chamber. It was a standard bevel nothing really wrong except what would happen is the red tips of the eld's would deflect just enough to help it kick itself into the chamber. Once I started loading the solid tipped bergers they would stop dead in their tracks straight into the back of the barrel just below the bevel. We took it back off and reprofiled the bevel and problem solved.

As much as I love my Armalite, it is painful to try and find compatible parts at times. But I did manage to find a barrel nut and handguard that I liked and would work from Odin Works. I also ordered an Area 419 arca rail for the bottom of the handguard which I have been very happy with.
Other upgrades on the list are:
SJC Titan muzzle brake
Odin Works adjustable gas block
Odin Works adjustable buffer
Ambidextrous safety
Radian raptor charging handle
Magpul PRS gen 3 stock
Ergo vertical super grip
And a tract toric scope and mount
I'm currently still running the factory match trigger that I spent a fair amount of time smoothing and tuning, but I think it's going to be replaced soon with a TT diamond.
And then full Cerakote that we did in house

I'm currently working on load development with 109 bergers and varget, CCI 450, and I have alpha brass but I have not started using it yet.
I know I'm missing a bunch of things but I'll try to keep it updated if anyone is interested.
I have many more photos of the process and project that I'll continue to add.
Thanks

Bergara B14R Heavy Warranty Repair - Completed Update

Sent my B14R in for a common issue with B14R rifles purchased from Battlehawk Armory (I’m sure other rifles made it to other dealers as well)

Long story short the start of the rifling had large swipe marks of metal from likely a dull reamer. This was on the start of the rifling all the way around. The barrel also had some decent chatter marks throughout as well

The barreled action was replaced by Bergara. Total time was 2 months from date shipped to returned.

Borescoped the new barreled action. This barrel is much better. There’s a chunk of rifling missing about 3/4 of the way down the barrel. But other than that it seems decent.

Just figured I’d give an update for those who were in the same situation as I know several of us were and I’m sure many others have the issue as well. So if you’re having consistency issues it’s worth a check

I’ll finish the build and put it against my B-4R steel

I shot an AI today, and I liked it

Was at the rifle range today getting acquainted with my new KRG W3 chassis. While going to check/pull targets I see a guy that I seem to always see, who always has a green AI AT with him. This time I decided to stop and talk with him about his AI, he had nothing but good things to say; absolutely loves it. Buys new / different barrels for it and has been thinning the rifle herd because the barrel change system on it is so easy and reliable. Currently it's wearing a stainless barrel in 6 Creed.

Then he says, go check it out if you want, pick it up, see about it. Which of course I do, and I sit down at his bench to get behind it more or less fondle it. Next as I'm running the bolt he says, he'll why don't you shoot it? I got 5 ready to go right here.

This thing, man, I get it now. The bolt throw, the way it locks up, the way the bolt glides, the trigger. It was incredible, a massive step up from anything I've ever handled, save perhaps a TRG22. Far and away the nicest rifle I've ever actually shot.

I put 4 into a 1" circle at 200 yards, with someone else's rifle, someone else's scope, shooting with my wrong hand, with no rear bag. The gun just...lasered em out there.

So, I get it now. I've experienced how "the other half live" and experienced first hand part of the premium AI commands.
