Another wrinkle in the DUI for profit saga

I ate nothing but hamburgers for an entire month. Only a week in, and I didn’t want to see a burger again for the rest of my life. After a month I wanted to stop eating — forever. Even the smell of cooking burgers made me sick.

Ironically, I could still eat steak.

Moral of this story?

If all you consume is bad cop videos, is it any surprise that you’ll develop an intense hatred for anything that looks or smells like a LEO?

I hate bad cops, and those who protect them, and they should all suffer at the hands of non-binary rape gangs, but ACAB is still a bridge too far for me.

Kahles vz ZCO

So, a dude has to respond to being called a liar, right? So that’s the only reason I’m back.

I also can’t help but note that @koshkin hasn’t popped in to say I am wrong about his relationship with the ZCO owners proper (not including Richard/@CSTactical, who, afaik, are resellers).

But you are, no doubt, correct that he would rather sit this out. Nobody likes a too-hot steam-bath.

So, here’s a couple time stamps in one of his livestreams in which he mentions their spat. It involved FOV fudging, and that’s why he is going on about the Vortex and ZCO’s FOV. PLEASE, contact him if you don’t believe me or want more detail.

Above, he does say “ZCO makes EXCELLENT scopes” right there too, btw, a sentient that I share because I’ve read lots of positive ZCO reviews. Imagine that. Reading reviews, passing on links to reviews. Positive or negative.

Here’s another timestamp in the same vid:

I’m not speaking for koshkin nor am I his spokesman or good buddy, but I admit I have had a pleasant telephone convo with him once at some point about an unrelated matter.

ZCO seems to make great scopes, Richard seems like a nice guy, and CSTactical receives near universal praise as a seller. In some of the links I provided about ZCO problem reports, if it was a physical scope issue the problem was invariably quickly resolved.

I hope you can see I restrained myself greatly in this thread in order to remain cordial. Why I chose to finally debate this issue is to preserve the ability for people to actually discuss the positives and negatives about ALL gear, despite brand passion.

See you around and take care.
The reason I have not commented is that this was a long voluminous conversation that did not look like something I should spend time to read through carefully.

I do not fully understand what was the genesis of the original disagreement any more than I understand where it went afterwards.

Figuring out both sides of the story would take time I am not willing to spend.

Perhaps even more importantly, I have been pretty much living out of a suitcase lately and sick as a dog for weeks now. I am tired, worn out and very limited in terms of what I am wiling to care about.

I am at the airport finally heading home for a few days. I have a PRS match to shoot in May and BOTC in June. I'll be focusing on those as time allows.

BC Correction

A post with more information on the Oehler 88 at 2 miles would generate a lot of interest. Details on the downrange target and some sample data would really be appreciated.

In one of the papers on the website, Oehler wrote that under 1K yards, it doesn't really matter if you use G1 or G7 as the BC model. I was surprised by that, so I checked it by comparing range cards generated with each model. With the advent of CDMs, I added those to the mix as well. This is what it looks like for the OPs ballistics.

I started with the values in AB Analytics. Then I trued the G1 value to give the same drop as the G7 at the OPs last target. Looks like Oehler had a point. G7, CDM, trued G1 are on top of each other out to the last target. I also fit a straight line. There are at least of a couple versions of this out there. It's basically a mnemonic trick to avoid memorizing ballistic tables. You have to multiply and add in public and under stress, but it can work pretty well out to 6-800 yards with suitable cartridges.

Zooming in on just the errors, these are the differences at each range between the methods in the legend and a G7 range card.

It's not that G1, G7, CDM, or 4Dof don't give different results, it's that 1300 yards isn't enough range that they become significant. This graph also has a curve where the G1 was trued at 4K yards which is the last value in my template. This is intended to demonstrate that no, G1 and G7 are not the same.

Trump is back…the “Now What” thread

Bull cookies.
Those raghead bastards just trying to buy time so they can rearm and regroup.
Trump shouldn't take anything a terrorist says as being anywhere close to believable.
He should pour it on thick and heavy and pound their asses into extinction.....

What Optic Are YOU Running?

I run an ATACR 7-35 MIL-XT on my T1X in a KRG chassis.

t1x.jpg

I swapped to a Razor 3 briefly, but didn't like the parallax wheel, and especially not the turrets. I had one lock on my during a stage and they don't unlock very fast at all. The ATACR just does what I want it to, and I don't notice anything about it. The parallax wheel is the just right, the turrets with a turret tape are great. It's a bit overkill magnification wise, but it's not bad. It's very clear at 12x - 20x where I'm shooting at anyways.

Above all, I like the reticle. My preferred reticles are JVCR, MIL-XT/C, PR2, SCR2 variants. Leupold and USO's FDN line don't have low enough parallax, and Burris doesn't have my trust mechanically like the NF and USO has. The MK4 has low enough parallax, but I don't like to run non-flagship optics, as I believe the flagship optics of a given company will have better support, and be more reliable.

March's new FML-WBR looks incredible too. If I had that budget right now, I'd be looking at that new March 5-42.

Pistol ar....lvpo vs red dot

I've found this to be the case, that in my AR pistols, a red-dot or holographic site is way better than trying to solve for the LPVO eye-relief problem. I like the Vortex AMG UH-1 on my AR pistols, but any red-dot is fine ... doesn't have to be this much of a high-end optic. I got a screaming deal on a couple of them when they were cheaper, so that's what I use.
The eye relief with an LPVO on a pistol is only a problem if you didn't set it up right. You can get an extra 3/4 inch of LOP by going with an A5 receiver extension and you can choose an LPVO or other magnified optic with a shorter eye relief. I run two 11.5 pistols. One has a 1-8x NX8 and the other an ACOG with red dot. Not all LPVOs have 4"+ of eye relief and most prism style optics run in the 1.5 to 3" range.

As far as unforeseeable scenarios go, I was talking about problems that I regularly ran into running a red dot. It's been said that not all civilians take shots to 300 yards or beyond. I can tell you that there are many of us that do and do so regularly.

Where's my tinfoil hat?

I am going to call bullshit, two years and who funded her "research"?

Besides, unless 95% of the people here were there, I'd just as soon be rotting on the surface than be trapped underground with the society we have morphed into

American made medium power optic (3-18+)

For that price yes it is but, the website you sent me has it listed at $ 2199. If you’re extending a deal to me I greatly appreciate it but I don’t want to get your hopes up for a purchase at this time, I do still have to save up for it. I was mainly looking to see what options I had and I greatly appreciate your input. This optic is in my top 3 for sure.

He is a cancer in TX and MUST go
I’ll say it every time his name comes up: Fuck that RINO Cuck John Cornyn, edit: yes, sideways with a cactus.

He’s the very archetype of a narcissistic backstabbing politician, who’s only real loyalty is to himself, and his only allegiance is to The State in furtherance of centralized power and control.

URSA NorCal – Saturday and Sunday, April 26-27, 2025 – URSA 3K (2025) - postponed to May 18th (weather)

I am moving back to California once my house in SW Florida sells( terrible housing market here). Plan on buying in Lake Co. would love to shoot with you guys and go farther than the one mile I get to shoot here Doubt my current set up will get there though.
The first target is at 2125 yards and the DA is 4k'. If you have something that'll do that in under 30 mils, have an optic that can do that on the turret, and can load ammo to under 30 fps for 10 shots, I'd give it a try. What you think you need will likely change after you've done it a few times. Too many wait for the perfect or ultimate setup to start and just never do.
