Best offset mount and red dot combo for AR?

was thinking of a bigger dot for close up stuff maybe 5moa
Yeah, I thought the same too and tried a 4 MOA dot. I found it to be too big for use on an AR. Depending on how far forward you wind up mounting it, it's gonna start to get too big. I zero my red dot for a 50/200ish zero and hitting a 10" steel plate at 200 is really slow with the bigger dot. For closer in, head shots got difficult somewhere between 25 and 50 yards, depending on how far forward you have it mounted.

At least with a 2 MOA dot, you can bloom the dot to make it look bigger. With a 4 MOA dot, there isn't any making it smaller.

Action Camera recommedations

I just recorded my first match for training purposes using the Triggercam on my scope and a DJI Osmo Action 4 clamped onto my tripod. I think it turned out great and already see so many things to work on.

I prefer the DJI over my GoPro especially in summer because GoPro always gets an overheat error in 90+ degrees in direct sunlight. The DJI seems to be able to handle it. Plus quick 1 button press when I start the stage to turn on and start recording and 1 button press to stop recording/turn off when stage complete. Couldn’t be easier.

I will get better at choosing angles and distances as I do more matches. I put them on YouTube unlisted for easy access and share with some shooters for critique so I can send you a link if you PM me if you’re curious how the dual setup worked for me and how I’m using it. Just be warned I’m new to PRS and my shooting/skills are lacking lol but that’s why I’m doing this.

Ideal Backcountry Rifle weight?

I know you said no chassis, but this one’s hard to beat when trimming weight and you want the option to fit it into a pack. Used to have this one with a 21” 300WSM barrel for an elk hunt that never materialized, but re-barreled it to a 16” chambered in .308 last year for deer and piggies. Super easy to throw into a gunslinger backpack and just go.

I always shoot suppressed though, so add another pound for can, muzzle device, and wrap:

Thinking about adding a Q kickstand…Love the MDT and other more stable bipod options, but that Q is much more in keeping with the lightweight nature of this gun.

Edit: That polymer-cased .308 from True Velocity shoots pretty well out of this gun too, so I can knock off another couple ounces when packing that ammo vs. my usual fare.

22arc versus 6 arc

Been revisiting this as I sit on my 22 arc MOD 0 barrel while my buddy is also doing a mod 0 in 6mm arc. I partially went 22 because i have an existing AEM5. Turns out you can give them a call they make a 6mm AEM5 for order.

Looking at the landscape 6mm arc seems to be really coming around with ammo selection comparatively. AAC is also sure to start production due to the simple fact they're offering rifles in it. So there will be a litany of choices for 6mm arc. 22 arc right now hasn't really seemed to have made any waves. I figured it would really catch on in the predator hunting world because supporting near 22-250 ballistics in a small frame AR is something I've always dreamed of. Obviously a lot of us load but I hate loading for semis. Don't want to chase brass and have no desire to hang a sac off my gun.
