Israel/iran

Kahmnei has been on a side track for a while especialy now as 'freshly' promoted IRGC generals vie for power ,Israeli strikes will resoult in opposite of what they imagined . Old guard that came up post Iran-Iraq war was killed and much more hawkish new guard will take their place.

As for mass arrests and executions ,hangman will definetly be busy and in such situations life is cheap , most folks working for Mossad are turning out to be Afghans so Iranians will even more zealously go after them. This hunt will last for months or even years and in mean time expect occasional thing blowing up. As just because Trump had a mission acomplished moment neither Israelis or Iranians are realy done with each other.

Fun fact ,Afghans are also disposable manpower for IRGC proxies in ME , particulary Syria ,Iraq these when there are no locals to be had ,only Iranians actualy on the ground are officers that command these militias , So its kinda ironic Afghans being disposable fodder for both Israelis and Iranians

I Wish

I wish,

That everyone got the same enforcement. That government criminality wasn’t overlooked. That government employees didn’t get exceptions to the laws forced on the tax payer by gun point. That gov employees face the same consequences and got the same treatment.

The makers and enforcers of law should be its most strict followers. They should hold themselves to a higher standard and face the same crippling consequences as any other citizen. I find it funny that the same people who white knight for the enforcers are quick to criticize the people who pass the law. I see them as the same.

Isn’t it a civic duty, and even somewhat patriotic to call them out? Afterall, we pay the taxes that fund the salaries and pensions these people recieve.

Books from two different people. Would like to know how the doughboy was connected. Most folks, according to my dad, lived pretty close to the back of the book, especially if living in town and raising kid, unable to garden. Tires, oil, and other commodities were hard to get. Neither has a date, so unable to guess what period of the war these were issued. Very interesting find.

two different lot numbers

What you are measuring is akin to the bearing surface but depending on the inserts it's probably not giving a true gauge. Small variations in the ogive radius or boat tail angle will case variations which have no bearing on the performance of the bullet. Small variations in boat tail angle or length has almost no bearing on internal ballistics. While many people profess to see the difference in jump it may not be as sensitive as some seem to see on small sample sizes. That said, consistency in jump is important. What we do know is consistency in CBTO will put the bullet in a consistent jump which does seem to be a very important parameter for precision, probably more so than consistent bearing surface (IMO).
A few years ago I ran a test to get some idea what a difference is bearing surface length makes as I saw a difference between two lots of my 168 SMK's of ~.034" (it being a comparator measurement and not exact measurement of the bearing surfaces). What I found when comparing 20 rounds of the shortest to the longest, there was quite a difference in MV and a shift in POI. But I think one has to have a big difference in bearing surface length to see any such changes. I don't think one going to see enough difference within a lot (at least, not with the higher quality bullets) that would result in something than can be seen on target. . . at least, I haven't seen it with any lot of bullets I've had.

Here's that data taken from my chrono (when my reloading process wasn't as good as it is now ;)):

Cleaning for Carbon

I had an older 6.5 CM barrel that still had some life left in it with a carbon ring. I let it soak with Boretech for a while, but patches did not do anything.

Because it was an older barrel and I had little to lose, I chucked up a bronze 30 caliber brush on a section of cleaning rod in a cordless drill and used a high quality bore guide, I carefully spun it for about 15 seconds without letting the rod come in contact with anything. This process took the carbon ring out very quickly and did absolutely no damage to the barrel whatsoever. I proceeded to shoot a sub .3 MOA group with it after cleaning.

I would not make a habit of attaching a bore brush to a drill, but a bronze brush when properly/carefully used is not going to hurt anything.

PCP reliability and accuracy/precision

I started with airguns as a boy, then got into firearms comps and of all kinds until 5 years ago but also airgun comps for the last 25 years and currently still do.
I reload for all my centerfires so I know all about it and have gone down the rabbit hole of trying to squeeze everything I can out of a piece of brass.

Just last weekend I shot super well in our Field target air rifle match, thought I'd probably won it with a 45/48, but a friend shot a perfect score in the Hellacious winds of 12 to mid 20's which is almost a miracle, seriously!
For a 55 yard shot I aimed out 3" to hit the KZ both shots, LOL?! That's how much these pellets blow in those kinds of wind speeds.
What I'm getting at is there is a lot of challenge shooting pellets in the wind. Our pellets were 17 cal with a .032 G1 BC going 810 fps or so.
We have a Silhouette game shot sitting on bucket and off of shooting sticks. Keeping the story short it's not uncommon to hit the 1/5th scale rimfire chickens at 80Y which is pretty amazing that a 19 fpe airgun will do this fairly consistently as long as one has a grasp of how far that pellet is going to blow.

Then yesterday I was at another friends place shooting my 6 fpe Steyr LGB1 out to 70 yards with .020 G1 BC pellets. It was silly but I could hit the steel. For reference that's only twice the power of a Red Ryder BB gun.

Yep pcp's are great for plinking with for hours and hours without costing very much.

Michaelangelo said that "the statue was always inside the block of marble. I just have to remove material to get to it. "

(That's a paraphrase.)

Sirhr

The actual quote is: "Bambino, el stattuetto was a-all ways inside-o de beeg marbleini! I a justa hava to breako it Outta de blocko! Gorlami."
I had to do a bit of search but that statue wasnt Mikeyangelo, though the quote may well be his. Seeing the whole thing is truly amazing what he did with a rock.

6 ARC powder consensus for heavies in AR

There’s quite a bit out there all in agreement N133 not for heavies. N140 slow even from 22” barrel with Berger 108s. Like 200 fps slower than LVR from 18” barrel 😳
Good points. I do not yet own a 6ARC but am considering it, and would like to use the powders I have on hand.

After I asked my question, I put some info into GRT software to see how the numbers looked.

Case volume of 34.2 gr H20 and a 105 Berger Hybrid, tried to keep the load close to 55kpsi @70°F

18" barrel

23.6 N133
50°F 2445 FPS
90°F 2458 FPS
Slow, but the difference between the two temps is only 13FPS.

27.8 LeverRevolution
50°F 2575 FPS
90°F 2630 FPS
Base velocity is over 100 FPS faster than N133, but the temperature difference in velocity is more than four times N133 at 58 FPS.

26.6 N540
50°F 2516 FPS
90°F 2541 FPS
Delta 25. Better velocity than N133 with decent temperature characteristics.

It's a computer model, so take it for what it is worth.
