New Bolt Action Comp Ready Rifle on the Market.

Hey Terry

I’m gonna ask cuz I’m genuinely curious

Why would you opt for a non-intergalactic lug and rail for a new action?
This is just my opinion based on my use and preferences . . . .

By nature, integrally machined rails are almost 100% of the time limited to the length of the receiver and are a fixed height.

Pic rails machined to match a slick top receiver can be:

Perfectly matched for clean access to the ejection port the same as an integrally machined feature.
Can be of a correct height to be co-linear with front NV rails.
Can be designed as a longer monolithic rail to extend from the rear of the receiver to the front of the forend.
Allow cleaner and less expensive machining of the host receiver.
Using screws and locator pins can be exceptionally robust. If you tear one of these off, you likely have already trashed your optic and have bigger problems.

Non-integral recoil lugs that are pinned or keyed offer the same rigidity as an integrated one.
They most definitely are not going to move or shift since they are sandwiched between the receiver face and barrel shoulder.
Again, they allow cleaner and less expensive machining of the host receiver.

Integrally machined rails and lugs are one of those things that offer advantages on a technical paper but in reality any advantages are lost in the noise of actual use even in a high end precision competition environment.

Correct me if I read that wrong.
I don't think there is a right or wrong here.
Actions with integrally machined features aren't going anywhere. They are popular and they work. I just think there are benefits offered with little or no penalty by manufacturing them as a 3 piece assembly.

In fact I think you will see almost 100% of the offerings go this way (integral features) as more and more actions migrate to production 3D printing.

Kelbly's operate at a higher than average "rifle" IQ. Their vast experience and manufacturing expertise are at the top of the heap. Anybody thinking that Kelbly is dropping quality or lowering standards to offer their new action/rifle package is simply not looking at the big picture. They have and will continue to offer some of the best actions. Their Element was simply their best effort to offer a more affordable package without compromising performance. Their quality and top tier actions aren't going anywhere.

2403-yard shot on a can of red bull, sounds like a load of bull.

One of the great things about the current trend in "accuracy challenges" across the internet, is that you can see just how much luck is involved with skill.

I can personally care less about what the other guy is doing, as long as they are being honest about it. Unfortunately, the trend with self-video editing is that honesty often takes a back seat to footage that will generate more views.

MY Brenda

Wishing her the best. Had cataract surgery the end of January and eye is still not fully stabilized and been a frustrating few months since surgery. Had great vision prior to the surgery but cataract was staring to cause issues. Wound up with a astigmatism which really makes looking through scopes challenging even with corrective lenses. Plan on getting that corrected.

Iran go boom

The fact of the matter is there’s not a swinging Richard in this thread that actually knows the degree to which these strikes were successful. All speculation colored by each individual’s personal perspective, which is also colored by one’s current opinions relative to the current Administration and the federal government in general.
And the fact of the matter is, thats pretty much the skinny on every story that comes through the Pit. Lots of opinions and attitudes, very little substance. As someone said to me years back, "Welcome to the internet."

Arguing about reticles is like arguing if Ford, GM, Dodge, Toyota trucks is best. Here's my "Tesla" opinion. I'd love to see Nightforce's MOAR-CF2D but in mrad, combined with Schmidt & Bender's TR²ID's Xmas tree. Then I'd make Ø0.05 mil dots every 1 mil on the COMPLETE vertical stadia (up to 2 mils hold under). Leave the top 3rd open for spotting shots. ;-)

This was A-A-ron from Gunwerks, not the window-licker. Real vs youtubes fraud.

It ain't sky bustin' if the ducks fall dead...and that's that. "In range" isn't the same for everyone.

What's "ethical" for one person might not be for another. Personally, if you give a shit how someone else hunts within the regulations there is something fucking wrong with you, and you live a small and meaningless life. Choke yourself.

Judge rules your dog IS family.

the point is that the family can experience trauma, and thus the killer may not escape liability.
it isn't a reclassification of the animal.

and no, killing a beloved pet is not the same as livestock that is raised to be slaughtered eventually.

I like your perspective in the first part, but I also routinely see livestock that are treated like beloved family pets... milk cows, goats etc... They even have names in my patient portal as given to them by their owners. They're as current on vaccinations and deworming as your dog is. More, a lot of them actually provide a source of sustenence with milk and cheese in addition to 'companionship'. And no, many of those will not be slaughtered in the end, and simply become yard ornaments like many family dogs. You might think it funny that I'd be called out to euthanize a pet cow, but I've done it (owner couldn't bring themselves to shoot it).

I still believe that a ruling like this opens the door for litigation more... and how are we going to determine which animals get to be immediate family members and which aren't?

This wasn't a call out man, I'm not trying to put anyone on the defensive.

I just wanted to note that people across the country are going to have differing opinions on what is a pet and what isn't.
