PCP reliability and accuracy/precision

In my experience with PCP guns (I have 3 of them), it's not a matter of IF you are going to have a leak, it's WHEN.

A lot of these PCP rifles have dozens of o-rings, and they can be a pain in the ass to troubleshoot.

I have a Taipan Veteran that developed a leak a couple of years ago, spent hours and hours trying to diagnose it with no luck. Its still not operational, I guess I should send it off to a professional but it hasn't been a priority.

Airguns are awesome for shooting where it's not legal to do so with a firearm. But personally, I would pick a rimfire over an airgun 10 times out of 10 when legal to do so.

2403-yard shot on a can of red bull, sounds like a load of bull.

I’d like to follow around some of the guys for a couple of days that get their panties all in knots about alleged violations of their hoity-toity “ethics”, to see if in general, they live their lives with such high standards when it comes to things like driving, financing, reading to your kids, brushing your teeth, running your business etc.

I'm actually pretty decent in all of those areas... :D

I'll screw it up in a second though if it involves stubbing my toe, being polite to a rude person, or muslims.

Andrew Cuomo or muslim socialist......decisions, decisions....

I’m kinda sad Cuomo didn’t win. He was a shitbag and we all celebrated his fall from office, but the vindictive whore that replaced him is much worse. At least his brand of bullshit was most predictable.

This whore in office will green light this socialist to fund really fund all the sanctuary bullshit.

Im just glad I am far from the city.

Iran go boom

The fact of the matter is there’s not a swinging Richard in this thread that actually knows the degree to which these strikes were successful. All speculation colored by each individual’s personal perspective, which is also colored by one’s current opinions relative to the current Administration and the federal government in general.
Exactly the point I was trying to make to our resident expert. This my opinion (emphasis on "opinion"): From the moment I heard about the strike, I thought I'd be very surprised if it was 100% effective at permanent destruction. I'd also be very surprised if it were 0% effective. I do expect it to be somewhere in between, but have no idea which of those numbers it leans towards. So for now, we wait.

One thought I had is, if it only sealed the entrances enough to take a few months/years to dig out, they make it a stipulation that it remain untouched or anyone going near it is going to get zapped. If they "knew", as has been posited, that it wouldn't completely penetrate, this could have been the strategy? I don't know, just an idea.

Bushing or mandrel or both?

See the post above.

On the way down into a case, a mandrel pushes the neck open with the strong mechanical advantage of the case's shoulder supporting it, which delivers the consistent sizing (same concept as why an arch can support a lot of weight in architecture due to the distribution of the forces working against it). On the way up/out, a mandrel isn't really doing much of anything.

Arguably, you get a more consistent neck and don't distort the case shoulder doing it this way.

With the SAC piece, it's just a fancy expander-ball design, that still pulls up on the shoulder while sizing the neck, and not sizing as consistently due to not being supported.
What about the pma expander? It is a traditional expander like you describe, only it’s purposefully thin top and bottom.

Yeah the argument is the down stroke still does most of the interfacing with the brass but still.

Don’t get me wrong, I still use the traditional mandrel sets myself, purely due to economics and prior investment. It is still literally twice the handling steps in a non progressive presss than the combo dies.
I just think that if someone is using these ultra match grade combo dies that they probably aren’t using crappy enough brass for the differences in tensile strengths on the small sizing operations to have a measurable effect on outcome.

Iran go boom

i saw an interesting take on Epoch Times. was said that the strikes weren't very effective. Trump knows and doesn't care. the strikes gave him some room around the Israeli loving butt lickers here in the US. now he can say he saved them and maybe they they will shut up. does seem Beni is pissed with that and no follow up invasion and further attacks. in no way do the Jews want peace with Iran or anyone else in ME.
will be interesting to see. if Beni doesn't stay in absolute power,he goes to prison with his wife for a long time. hard to know what common people in Israel really think. seems they would get tired of all the body bags.

I think this is the case.

Even before this operation was commenced, there was numerous reports coming out talking about how the admin was very cautious about using bunker busters as there was a lot of doubt they would get the job done.

Trump likely performed the operation anyways to appease Netanyahu and the hawks (to a degree), and giving himself an "out" to avoid more war (that Netanyahu and the said hawks want).

Trump can save face and avoid further war by saying he's done his part. The reality doesn't really matter (in regards to how much damage actually was done).

The tight rope now hangs in the balance of Israel and Iran, how they respond and whether either party pursues to escalate. I know Netanyahu wants a regime change war with Iran, and it wouldn't surprise me if they continued to commit to that. However they know they can't accomplish that without the US, and if Trump stands strong against Netanyahu perhaps we can avoid this regime change war afterall.

Time will tell.

Caribbean Delegation Bound for Brussels, London to Demand Slavery Reparations

Reparations are due now to compensate for the trans-Atlantic slave trade as a way to tackle “its legacy” in contemporary society, including “systemic racism and white supremacy.” That is the message a Caribbean delegation will take to Brussels and London on a visit designed to elicit cash payments as compensation for “slavery and colonialism.”

Calls for reparations are longstanding but have been gaining momentum around the world, particularly among the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the African Union (AU), Reuters reports.

The outlet set out some of the background to the latest call to target Europe:

Organised by the Repair Campaign, a group advocating for reparations in the Caribbean, the trip will start in Brussels on July 1, where the delegation will host a briefing with European Union (EU) lawmakers.
In 2023, the EU said Europe inflicted “untold suffering” on millions of people but even though some member states have acknowledged past wrongs, no country has agreed to reparations.
The delegation will then travel to London, where they will hold a briefing in parliament on July 2.

The Reuters report goes on to state the delegation includes “Caribbean academics and policy experts, as well as members of national reparations committees established by CARICOM member states and backed by their respective governments.”

CARICOM has a reparations plan, which, among other demands, calls for technology transfers and investments to tackle health crises and illiteracy. The AU is developing its own plan.

Opponents of reparations argue contemporary states and institutions should not be held responsible for their past. But advocates say action is needed to address the legacies, such as inherent racism allegedly delivered through colonialism.

Britain has previously rejected calls for reparations even as the United Nations has added its voice to the call.

Just this past week a Black Lives Matter (BLM) affiliate made a demand of its own in the U.S. telling “white folks” the time has come to pay up.

BLM has also made the same call in the UK.

As Breitbart News reported, U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres in 2024 said past colonial powers “laid the foundations for a violent discrimination system based on white supremacy that still echoes today.

“Descendants of enslaved Africans and people of African descent are still fighting for equal rights and freedoms around the world. Today and every day, we reject the legacy of this horrific crime against humanity.

“[…] We call for reparatory justice frameworks to help overcome generations of exclusion and discrimination.”

HILARIOUS!!!!

K-Bars Small fixed blade for your daily carry?

Dawson with their USA made Magnacut steel is a good one and I've had nothing other than positive experiences with this company. I love their proprietary metal finishes.

Here's my four so far. I EDC a fixed blade all day long and much prefer this over folders.
The way the Contractor feels in hand, 2nd from right, makes it my favorite.

Next are my TKell's.
Warthog on the left side, the other a Nighthawk. I'd rather have Magnacut steel but I like the shapes and sheaths more than Dawson.

Probably get a couple Half faced Blades next.

DeLane Development Group Rimfire Ventures

I've spoken a bit about my M5x DBM and described verbally the difference between the "x" and the de-facto standard M5, so I thought I'd show everyone what the "x" is all about.

Notice the circled protrusion with a blind hole that houses the Pre-Load Piston, and, in some stocks, material will need to be relieved to allow the fitment of the protrusion.

One will note that in the DDG Lot Test Fixture, there's no "wall" of material between the mag box feature and trigger inlet area of the stock. If one has a stock with a wall of material there, simply remove enough of the material to allow the protrusion on the DBM. Everything else about the "x" is all standard M5.

The only other area to be revised is on the bottom of the receiver (rimfire and centerfire alike), just ahead of the trigger pocket. A small, blind depth plunge with a 1/4" end mill creates a pocket that allows the vertical movement of the piston when the magazine is inserted into the DBM.

All of my new actions will be set up from the jump with the features that accommodate the Pre-Load Piston.

Iran go boom

I have thought about this. It could be for a couple reasons:

1. The reports are true, the MOPs didn’t do thier job.

2. The centrifuges were indeed destroyed but the material was moved to other locations - make it, move it; repeat continuously and disperse the finished product across multiple sites FOR YEARS so as to preserve as much as possible while allowing the known production site to be hit while preserving the uranium as well as other unknown production and storage sites.

3. They had advanced knowledge the strikes were coming and GTFO was the order for all critical items that were not bolted down. See #2. I mean, hell, it was all over the news and internet before it happened. It’s almost like it was intentional telegraphing and backchanneling. Not totally unlike the missiles being shot into Qatar, which has its own series of implications.

4. The Iranians are completely and irredeemably stupid and inbred to the point that they left everything there and it was actually obliterated.

what are the odds that ONLY #1 or #4 is totally correct? Even the Iranians aren’t that stupid. I wager the threat is still there.
And just like that...
