I'll make an educated guess after see the keywords Mississippi & high school football game...No need to read the article.
Amish FTW
I'll just point out that the ZCO has a published AOV of 23° at max and the March-FX PRS has an AOV of 26° at max. That's a difference of 13% linear or closer to 28% since we view and shoot in two dimensions. You're seeing quite a bit more with the March than with the ZCO and that has a tendency of fooling the brain that the image of the target in that wider field of view is smaller, when it's in fact the same magnification. That’s what I had initially thought… but I believe it is not the case.
Will be spending tomorrow morning with them side by side.
Edit to add that there is not a big difference in FOV between the 2.
One of the best men that I ever knew broke’s neck and died at Dumont Dunes.Oh the three wheeler, the motorized gallows of my generation. The necks you broke,
A couple of comments regarding deflagration vs detonation:Yes. A good friend of mine who is a skeet Hall of Fame shooter sponsored by Remington (at least at the time) told me a story of his visit to the Remington ammo plant in Lonoke, AR. As they were walking around showing him the plant he asked "what's that small building way over there" and the answer was "its were we make primers and we have had to rebuild it a number of times over the company's history".
As you seem to have some good knowledge in this area, I'm sure you know that smokeless powder is not a high explosive and does not detonate...it just burns VERY rapidly (deflagration). But the primer material is a different story....absolutely detonates.
I was told they keep a water mist constantly in that small building to reduce the risk of static electricity spark which would be way no bueno.
Cheers
If it’s truly run by the women, and I’m not saying it isn’t because I don’t know. But in the auto industry, which also likes to virtue signal, it wasn’t uncommon for there to be a female/minority “owner” for a company run by others.
I could probably be convinced to deliver the conversion kit for a little training work time like that.Come down for some R&D on achievable target sizes and necessary reactivity once we get a few of these setups built. We used to do 22lr matches out to 400 or so.
I'll be training with a six pack of group tighteners, too, but I can't be drinking when I'm at the actual range. Company policy.
These days, mostly trade schools...Wow! Quite the hard on for the Ivy League in general and Harvard in particular! Did someone from “ Hahvahd “ steal a girlfriend or something? Threw the academies and a couple from the UK in there as well for good measure! My goodness, any institutions of higher learning out there of which you DO approve?
6.5prc necked down a long range rig for prs or killing things at distance with out doing a lot of hiking. I would like to get 3200 plus. If I can it may replace my 243 Ackleys. I would do six PRC, but I think barrel life would be real fast. Are you discussing taking a 6.5 PRC, a 7 PRC or a 300 PRC to a 25 cal? Im assuming a 6.5 PRC. If so those extra 2 inches for a 26" arnt going to give you anything meaningful. With the bulletwieghts and the powder burn rates those extra couple inches arnt going to mean much, I could be wrong. Ive seen people use various powder/bullet combos to get some crazy results.
I guess the question is, what is the rig going to be purpose built for?
Thank you all for the feedback. What is keeping me from buying a RimX right now is that question about reliability even with the ModX. I spoke to someone that went to nationals and they mentioned there was at least one person that had issues with the ModX but it could had just been the environment. I would also consider waiting for Kenny's new action or the other two mentioned but since everyone is waiting for them, I doubt I would be able to get one in time for next season. For those that are running 90° bolts and 60°, is it all personal preference or does the shorter throw gain you some time during stages?
So, you’re saying that I can only carry it on weekends?
Now the quest begins to see if I can replicate anything approaching my favorite blend from Batdorf and Bronson!
Powder choice recommendations for a first time reloader for 7PRC.
Having loaded pallets of straight wall, I am green to bottleneck reloading. My first and only 7mm has a 24" CF Bartlein 1/8. Eagerly waiting on the Lapua brass offerings end of this year. It would be even nicer if Berger made some loaded to get a baseline for my new rifle.
I plan on using Bergers 180-190. Primarily for Western hunting and target.
After reading this entire thread. I see the powder choices are pretty vast. H1000, N570, N560, N565, Retumbo, RL26. I'm sure I'm missing a bunch more.
I know each barrel is different and likes what it likes. How does one go about powder choices? Do you guys buy a few 1lb'ers and go from there? Appreciate any recommendations for an all around performer.
If you put this on I will not only attend the inaugural match but sponsor the prize tableI would legitimately put on a half day WV Road Hunter class match for these. Three or four stages. At least one you have to start with an (empty) beer can in your hand, seated in the truck. On start, toss beer can through rear cab slider, retrieve rifle, engage targets through open window of truck cab.
I can make that happenOMG I want "NRL-Poacher" laser engraved on the barrel.
Fucking epic
