Pouring a 30"×40" concrete pad on top of concrete floor?

Luckily my basement is very dry. Averages around 45% RH in the summer, around 35% RH in the winter.

I keep one of the rechargeable EvaDry units in my safe and in the 18+ months I've been in this house, I've never had to recharge it once. Its not showing any absorbed moisture whatsoever. Back when I lived in VA I had to recharge it every 3-4 weeks.

I just want to pour this pad in the highly unlikely scenario I get some water in the basement, burst pipe, etc. Also, my insurance requires 6" stillage for anything below grade for coverage against flood/water damage. This is my forever home (I hope) so might as well do it right.

Long range 22 LR

Thanks for the replies.
Surprised at the amount of people in favor of the cz, I currently own a 452 and accuracy is very average.
Whatever I choose it will have to work with the factory barrel
This should have been emphasized earlier: what do you want to do with the rifle? And what ammo are you using in your 452?

Full disclosure: my input is based on competition-grade accuracy. I expect a near-100% hit rate on a 1/4" dot at 50 yards or 1.5" circle at 100 with good ammo (ammo is the limiting factor in .22LR accuracy, not the quality of the rifle itself). If all you want is a plinker that will hit a 1" circle at 50 yards with mid-tier ammo, any of the entry level bolt-action rifles should fulfill that role.
---------
With that said:

Ammo:
You said your 452 is "very average" wrt accuracy. What ammunition have you tried? I had a guy show up at the range with a brand-new 457 MTR... after awhile, he noticed I was shooting .22 and said, "I thought these 457s are supposed to be accurate. I can't get better than an inch and a half at 50 yards."

Yeah, he had a literal "bucket'a'bullets" jug of the cheapest bulk garbage ammo on the market. I gave him a box of SK Standard+ and told him to shoot enough to "re-season" the barrel with the different lube. Twenty rounds later, he could easily cover his 50-yard 5-shot group with a dime.

The platform:
The 452 is two generations old. You could rebarrel it for better accuracy, but the 452 barrel screws into the receiver... dead end in terms of resale if you chase that. The 457 and previous-gen 455 use the same grub-screw barrel mount design; super-easy swap with Lilja or similar drop-in if needed... but every MTR I've seen shoots great - imo, impossible to beat for the $850-$900 current pricing. Only downside is you'll probably have to get on a wait list because they're in such demand.

Also, the current 457 lineup includes entry-level variants at $500-ish with entry-level plastic stock and entry-level barrel and kinda-sorta-adjustable trigger. Not the same at all as the MTR or higher-level Varmint variants. I don't know if the 452 lineup had different levels like that - my point is, don't judge top-shelf 457s on what might be a baseline 452.

Pouring a 30"×40" concrete pad on top of concrete floor?

I’ve been running those 750g silica gel canisters. One in each safe. Both safes are under 40%. Plus the dehumidifiers for the room overall. Which holds usually 40-50% depending on the weather

Im in the UP of Michigan. In Winter the humidity is very low in the basement. Spring when the snow melts it be the highest

It was eye opening at first but it maintains without any issues easily now

They work, I just got tired of recharging them all the time. The damprids seem to pull way more moisture but last way longer than a recharge, and when it’s full I just throw it in the trash and hang up a new one. You can also empty the water and refill the pack but I just chuck them because I buy in bulk so they’re cheap. I also found that after a while the silica canisters didn’t work as well as they once did and need replacing.

Thunderbeast RR end cap adapter group buy - 338 ultra and magnus

Man is it hot here in AZ, going to have to work nights this year.
There was a question about caliber, for an FYI I have a 30 cal can and the through diameter is .450,,, I'm guessing the 338 cans are .100 plus over bullet diameter (I could use a measurement for those)
The RR brake weighs in at 3 1/8 oz (88 grams) and the prototype flat cap weighs in at 3 3/4 oz (108 grams)
Keep in mind I was unable to find a good pc of Ti without ordering so this part is all 304 stainless. The Ti version will for sure be lighter than the Brake.

That looks fantastic

Pouring a 30"×40" concrete pad on top of concrete floor?

I had a smaller dehumidifier which I thought was doing the job. It was in the other half of the basement by the drain. I immediately moved it next to my gun safes and in the 24 hours emptied a 3 gallon pail several times. Dropped from 76% to 50% overnight

With my bigger dehumidifier running where this one used to be I’ve only dumped maybe 3 gallons in the last few months from the one in the gun room.

Just food for thought before you make the move
Right about the moisture. Basements are notorious for that. Water makes mold.

Rifle Scopes $2500 MSRP Limit (PRS Production Class)

Wasnt chatgpt, tried to write it professionally sorry you didnt like it, cant make everyone happy, the optics speak for themselves. Im currently ranked 2nd in the world in ELR light with the 5-32x56 Victory, and have nothing but top 5 finishes this year so far. We have a no BS warranty and better customer service than most companies and are here to take care of shooters. We try to put certificates on as many match tables as I can get ahold of or that will let us.
Wait, wait, wait... There is a lot of "We" here. You are part of Telson but didn't disclose that once in your review?

And I lean towards agreeing with Swanson here... that professional fluff means nothing. Koskin saying he knows the guys behind Telson means a helluva lot more than any of the generic messaging. Would love to know more about their backgrounds.

Sturm Ruger has bought Anderson Manufacturing

“For any future support, we encourage you to contact your local Anderson dealer”.
LOL. Good luck with that!

Eh, that's really just a way of letting Anderson dealers which suddenly can't deal the product any longer remain a resource for their consumers. The vendors won't be able to provide warranty work or replacement Anderson parts, but they'll be able to provide service and parts from whatever other company for which they are or become vendors.

We may finally know who’s been to the island

Mr Newton, "conspiracy theory" is a term used to denigrate someone. Who do you think came up with that nonsense, labelling critics and skeptics broadbrush?

I guess if you play a team sport, your "conspiracy theory" would negatively view team play? Working together, and individually, for a common goal?

Good gosh amighty, this is crazy stuff. Minimizing every opportunity. Is it because the extent of capture is hard to fathom?
(Oh brother), I'm not denigrating your theories, but that they're involve multiple people keeping the truth secret MAKES THEM A CONSPRIACY. The Kennedy Assassination WAS a conspiracy. There are many theories, and while the government may have used those words to denigrate people who didn't believe thier narrative, it's now common usage, and after covid I don't think there are many people who still believe what press agents put out. You don't have to be in The Unit to understand that.

Just as Social Security is not technically a Ponzi scheme, because everyone knows that it is a pyramid scheme and bankrupt, so to is a theory that requires the complicity of dozens or hundreds of individuals keeping something skeptical, mark me down in The Unit's ledger as being skeptical...unless, there would be a national security reason and the people would keep it secret out of a sense of duty or real fear of consequences, and I don't mean to all the criminals, but to all of us who, as you point out, had nothing to do with it.

Krg X-ray/bravo upgrade choice

If it's full arca do you really want a spigot though?

I have the Geissele mk18 rail rail and it's very uncomfortable to carry because the width of the hardguard is much narrower than your rail. The arca edges dig into the hand.

Sounds like a bitch I know but it's enough to make me reach for different rifles.

If the arca edges isn't the widest point the hand pressure is displaced to the actual handguard.

That's the kinda feedback I'm looking for on these 2.

It looks like the fore end is wider than ARCA in both options anyway. If the fore ends were longer, i wouldn't want a spigot. It looks like they are about 4" longer than standard bravo fore end which is probably close to how much the spigot extends in that application, so maybe i wouldn't care to add one? Standard Bravo fore end length is definitely too short to not have a spigot with full length arca for me.. I have a spigot on my OG MPA BA Comp and i like having the option to put the bipod that far forward.
