XM7 worries from the field.

SIG keeps winning Army contracts because they keep delivering exactly what the Army asks for. Nothing really sinister about it.

Competition would win if they did the same thing, but aren't.

Jason St. John came from 3rd Ranger Battalion and the Army Marksmanship Unit. He, Robby Johnson, and Jared Van Aalst were some killing muldoons with sniper rifles. The three also served on the Army Rifle Team, Pistol Team, and Combat shooting teams.

The XM7 has some problems. I'm curious to see if it ever gets out of experimental stage. Army just killed M10 Bradley and a number of more expensive programs.

.260 Remington

Well, there is the .25 Souper...but looking at the reamer specs again on PTGs site, the freebore looks extremely short (like it was obviously designed before the long, heavy-for-caliber bullets came out...kind of like the .260). I couldn't find it, but I bet it was also designed for 2.800 OAL with those ~100-117gr bullets.

Kick that freebore out .100 and it would be a "game changah". Not really, but it shouldn't have any trouble running those mid-130s bullets up around 50-100 FPS faster than the .25 Creed.

Ukraine war Bullshit.

They like to think they are and in some cases they do as many still perceive this war as "territory/economics grab" - it si not. It is eradication of cancer like manifestation of part of society. Its like a coworker or business associate you might have had that if you do not "beat" constantly starts to think you actually like him and will fuck you over at the first opportunity. Ukrops simply ran out of willing, now they are catching everyone they can still somehow find plus some fanatics in reserve to act like blocking units. It won't be long now when front collapses and snowball starts to roll onto Kiev then it will be every nazi for himself trying to organize escape to the west. Most will likely have short lifespan as they will be hunted down and killed mostly by people who have survived this hellish nazi clique and will want payback for ruined lives.

I'm sure if you can't convince and do your propaganda then shutdown thread is an alternative. Unfortunately for you there are enough people with brains to be able to see through Ukrop and Neocon bullshit. Go dig a grave for yourself at least you won't be scattered allover when Muscovites end you - but i'm guessing you're keyboard commandoing from safety of some western country that pays for your existence.

XM7 worries from the field.

I think that the problem with any rifle submitted begins with the specifications.

In 1865, army standards was that the rifle had to hit a 6ft. X 6ft. square at 600 yards. We've come a long way since then with requiring 4MOA accuracy.

IMHO, that accuracy requirement can be reduced by at least half given the advances in weapons and ammunition technology.
I've seen colt M4's that wouldn't be able to put a bullet in that 6'x6' square.

House Budget Proposal to remove Tax on Suppressors but not remove it from the NFA

It's because handguns were originally on the NFA, and they only got dropped because it was holding up getting it passed.

I am not sure that was correct. I don't think handguns were ever considered. (Turns out Chevy_man was correct! See post below. In an incredible over-reach -- and in the wake of an assasination attempt on Roosevelt before he was sworn in -- the NFA was designed to cover handguns as well. Thanks, Chevy_man!)

But the SBR and 'barrel length' thing was a response (along with most of the NFA) to the prohibition gang wars of the 1920's and the Bank Robbery scourge of the 1930's. In both cases, the sawed-down shotgun, the sawed-down BAR or rifle, etc. was a weapon of choice. And so was an easy target, especially as folks were decrying 'No Sporting Purpose' to something like a 12" Greener double.

Well yeah, no sporting purpose to a coach gun. But plenty of purpose in bandit country!

NFA was all about appearing to 'do something' to stop the Dillinger/Pretty Boy/Bonnie-Clyde, etc violence that was getting massively hyped up during the early depression by the media (selling papers and radio broadcasts) and Hollywood, which was only to happy to sensationalize all of it. That the Roosevelt Admin got the added benefit of reducing the possibility that an armed Communist/anarchist/fascist uprising (that they could not have hoped to fight effectively) might arise in the Depression... was an added bonus.

And over the decades "Blame the Gun" became a Democrat mantra. Along with watching how Stalin and Hitler and Hirohito (Japanese had forbidden private weapons ownership for decades) could so easily cow an unarmed population and force regulations, social engineering, etc. on them... made removal of arms from the population a natural path for a party that wants to elimiinate personal freedoms, states rights and individual responsibility... in favor of a nanny state that will dictate every aspect of life... cradle to grave. Which is what the socialists who started hijacking the Democratic Party as early as Wilson... are all about.

These are not Andrew Jackson Democrats. They are Marx/Engels/Leninist/Maoist/FOCO types who found it convenient to hijack a party with 200 years of history... because noone wanted the shit they were being fed by the Red Book-carrying commies who said "Give everything up for Utopia..." when what humans really wanted was a Porsche, a big house and a nice boat -- which are the symbols of individuality, success and personal freedom.

Guns protect those. The NFA was the original 'Camels nose under the tent." Unless, of course, you want to include the Southern Democrats forbidding blacks from owning guns in the pre-Civil war and Reconstruction era. Because they knew the way to keep a population oppressed was to keep them disarmed and terrorized. And, of course, New York's Sullivan Law, which was largely designed to keep the sub-human Irish and Italian and Slav populations flooding the city... from being armed. And remember... the Democrat Machine came out of New York. They were well aware of the Sullivan Law....

Anyhoo.... I ramble on. We'll see about suppressors. In the EU, you can walk into any store and for less than $50 walk out with a suppressor with no paperwork at all. The same asshole politicians who bray on about how 'progressive Europe's gun laws are' have no fucking clue.

At this point, it's all reactionary anyway. Instead of looking at suppressors as a benefit (hearing protection, not annoying Karens in increasingly congested rural areas... therefore cutting down on useless LE calls and responses), hunting and culling species in urban areas... it's all about "If those rednecks want it, we're against it and we're going to punish them because they aren't bicycle-riding 15-minute city, tranny-loving socialists." So they are going to 'get them' any way they can. From making pickup trucks that suck... to finding ways to shut down farms and move us rural "Kulaks" into state communes and hive apartment buildings.

Sort of sounds like a couple of countries where the people are miserable and would have risen up. Except they didn't have any %$#@ing guns.

Accuracy International Picture Thread

I consider the Mk5 to be very much in the same ballpark as the XTR Pro. They are both very serviceable, and you don't loose much optical performance to true "Alpha" glass...but you can also tell that it isn't on the same level.

Add in the parts of turret clicks that aren't quite as tactile etc... and the reality is that you have a great optic in the $1,500 - 2,000 range... but it isn't competitive in pure performance with the next tier up. Does that make a difference in daylight shooting? Nope. But is it going to bug you if you're a stickler for the finer things? Yep. Let's face it, this is the AI thread...where most guys are willing to pay twice the amount for a 10% improvement.

As far a 100 meter 10 shot groups, I don't have any on camera. But I do have (2) consecutive 10 shot groups at 300. This isn't even the preferred load for this barrel, but it shoots it decently. Me...we'll, I'm no pro.

Skip to 1:50 and 8:45 for the shooting sequences.

Tikka T3 Thread

I have a bunch of 6.5 Creedmoors, including three Tikkas. Double shoulder surgery led to me dropping down in calibers.

I have a T3 stainless in 7mm Mag. Which I don’t need. Should I

1. Trade bolts and make it into a standard bolt face with a custom barrel like a 6Creed or XC

2. Rebarrel to some other magnum

3. Sell the barrel and think on it.

4. Sell it

5. Open to ideas.
Put a 6.5 PRC barrel on it, recoil isn't that bad compared to a 6.5 Creedmoor.

And more Karen Read trial bullshit

What’s funny is you guys are so blind to how much like the left and BLM you are.

Y'all are bitching about illegals (and right fully so) but aren’t considering the same who did this-

Did rugby ridge AND Waco and allowed the first WTC splosions.

Learn some freaking history ya BITCHES

JANET RENO made you!!
Now you’re blaming the dumbass local boys for everything you don’t like about policing.

I like how you guys think, but damn! Quit being so much like the pink vagina hat wearing commies and direct this rage at the corrupt politicians who made you, and made the dumbass local boys what they are.
Sorry, but as much as I spit on Janet Reno’s grave and how utterly corrupt and political that justus department was, sending Elion Gonzales back to his father was the right move. Parents trump politics.

Rifle Scopes Swarovski Z5i+ information

I like Swarovski a lot, their glass is and low light performance is top notch . I had a few issues with heavy recoil, so I sold the x5's and bought ZCO'S . Not regrets and I nor trust my scope 100%

It would be hard to go wrong either way. for me it's a bit of an apples and oranges comparison. hunting vs prs/competition/"tactical" style shooting, the weight and exposed turrets are the biggest factor in considering either for a hunting rifle from my perspective. which zco would you run? For this purpose I'd probably look hard at the scopes below. mid magnification range so you have decent light transmission on the low end, enough on the high end to ethically make just able an shot you would want on a game animal.

And more Karen Read trial bullshit

I have a theory on that I was waiting for someone to bring it up.

So she left the party ; he came outside to give her a kiss , a hug, maybe punch her in the face. And she started her engine, ran him over , drove home. Ran back to the party in a blizzard with her dog, moved his body to near the flag pole Let the dog chew on him for a mi minute or two.went back inside the party , found his phone and made a call on it to throw off any investigation and make it hard to establish a TOD and did all this in just under 2 minutes.
And all of the above is complete made up bullshit while I soak my sore ass feet in an Epsom salt bath- new work boots not working out- and it is still more plausible then anything the state has said .
Sorry about your boots. That sucks. Gut it out till they’re broke in? Or start over? (More interesting than how corrupt and fucked up Mass is).

DeLane Development Group Rimfire Ventures

I own several VQ DLC coated pistols and rifles. I’m completely sold on DLC coated bolts and have been searching for a company that can coat one-off Vudoo bolts. Can you/any one recommend a company that does a quality job?
A friend told me that this is the only company that he knows of that will do DLC on items that you send them.

I haven't researched them until I talk with the LGS (Local Gun Smith).

IMHO I think the only parts of the bolt (Gen 3) that need coated are the bolt body and the bolt nose. Thoughts?
