So whats you plan, for when the grid an/or net drops?

I don’t believe in taking from others. That’s called stealing and I’m no thief. Now, I would absolutely bargain or barter with folks for the things I overlooked in prepping.
This. It's one thing to utilize abandoned property, another to steal in this scenario. No reason to lose humanity, nor morality.

Long range build advice

Yessir….I agree. I shoot my 6.5 (cm and PRC) both all day inside 1000 yards. I love them both. Prolly like the 6.5cm the best. I shot my buds 300PRC and it’s tough to get through a box of ammo! Ha. Folks are saying 7PRC or 300PRC but would love your take on the 300NM vs these other choices. Thank you sir.
I think Rob and Rocketman really covered the differences between 7PRC and 300PRC.

Here's something to keep in mind if you're coming from a factory rifle background: I assume you're building a for-purpose ELR rifle, which will only be used from a support; in this regard weight and barrel length are your friends. Barrel length 28" or more. Barrel contour on the heavy side (Heavy Varmint or similar). APA Fat Bastard or similar 5-port brake - although you did say you shoot suppressed. The brake will provide better recoil mitigation, but heaven knows the muzzle blast with a braked magnum may make a bit more recoil quite worthwhile.

MAIN POINT: a good brake (or suppressor) on an 18+ pound .300 PRC should make it tolerable to shoot. If you want to regularly, frequently, ACCURATELY shoot a mile or more, you just don't want anything lighter than a .30 cal 200+ grain bullet. If you have dollars to burn, look at the .338 Lapua Magnum class. If your dollars to burn arrive freight rate, look at the Cheytac variants.

Wrt to the Origin action: My son has just started shooting his Origin-based 6.5CM with a Trigger Tech Special trigger and Bartlein 5R barrel chambered by a buddy of mine. It's temporarily in one of my MDT ACC chassis, but as soon as son saw one of Rob's rifles in a Manners TCS stock, he ordered one of those. The thing is a HAMMER. Hint: call Southern Precision Rifles and other vendors who carry Zermatt actions and ask them when they expect to receive long-action magnum-bolt-face Origins. You may be able to get on a wait list, or learn when the next shipment is expected.

Wrt Defiance actions: I have a Deviant and like it fine... but it's a different action than the Ruckus. My point in bringing it up is to compare to the Zermatt Origin wrt accuracy. The Defiance Deviant is a much more expensive action, but the rifle built on it provides no better accuracy than my son's Zermatt build - both in identical chassis, identical barrels, identical Vortex gen-3 Razor scopes, and near-identical triggers. Similar results comparing my .223s - one in a Defiance Deviant, one in a Terminus Apollo, otherwise same builds. Same accuracy.
--------

Regarding the post about 300 WinMag - Run away. Do not even think about a 300 WinMag unless you want to immediately customize barrel and ammunition. O yeah sure it's easy to find factory ammo for the caliber - factory ammo based on a 60+ year old design, with relatively light fast bullets in a short sloppy (compared to 300PRC) chamber in a slow-twist barrel, cartridge case headspaced on a belt that was often a marketing gimmick, not a necessity* (in 1970, a "magnum" cartridge without a belt would not sell). Modifying a 300 WinMag to make it shoot as well as a 300PRC - which was designed from the outset as a 2000-yard round - arguably makes the round NOT a 300 WinMag anymore.
- - - - - - -
* Older magnums - think .300 H&H and its variants - DID need a belt because their shoulder angles were too shallow for use in headspacing.

So whats you plan, for when the grid an/or net drops?

Damn! That’s a small fortune! I got goals now!

Haha! For real. But seriously, I’d like to see it for set up of my own!

This this right here. @Short-bus can you share your list of books?
"The Lost Ways" and "Wilderness long-term survival guide" are my 2 favorites. There's a bit of overlap, but good info on both. I decided years ago that being able to paint guns wasn't going to be a demanded skill when the world is going to shit. Being able to repair them though, would be. I also still need to teach myself to weld, althought i'll be fine without it as I have a neighbor who's a welding savant, along with fabrication, which his father who lives across the street has a full shop next to his house. There is enough earthmoving equipment to have no problem building barriers, fighting positions, dig out a pond for water storage, waste disposal, access denial. Big projects might be a challenge because I don't think anyone has fuel storage tanks besides propane. There is a farmer nearby that certainly does, but I wouldn't want to be a community that steals from those that have resources, unless it's abandoned property.

Other books i'd recommend, books on knots, canning recipes and methods, a book on how to make cordage, purifying water, natural medicine. You should absolutely know how to make charcoal in a variety of ways, because you may not have a can to make it in, so know how to make it the way the natives did. There are many medicinal benefits to charcoal that would be very, very crucial in survival settings, as well as being able to cook over it with less smoke, and light discipline at night. I mean we're kinda going down the rabbit hole here, but when was excessive knowledge ever detrimental to anyone?

I’m not going to say I told you so, but…Elon musk

I don’t disagree, but I believe it should accurately be changed to, It’s the most common ploy used to control a government. It’s been used since people started gathering in one place. Before billionaires it was millionaires, before millionaires it was those with the most money , before then there were always ways to get what you wanted that didn’t require you to strong-arm those in power.

It’s not this uniquely “American” thing.
Its quite unique now days because of how financing in US politics works vs rest of western world that was even before Citizens United ruling that opened the flood gates to where your votes are practically bought.

This was telegraphed.

more Sowell warnings and wisdom

Dr. Thomas Sowell should've been the first Black POTUS, but he was too smart & kind to want that.
if you or anyone is interested, there is a guy named Theodore Dalrymple that has several books out that address the same issues that Sowell does. he is not an economist or historian like Thomas. he was a doc in UK working for public health service. his take and observations line up exactly the same. worth reading his stuff from a dif country and same perspective.

Firearms FS Raven's M40A5

This is my personal M40A5. This rifle is 100% correct to USMC Specs down to the Black Oxide finish. To the best of my knowledge this is a complete deployment kit minus the Pelican Case and ARD. I have all books, accessories, Mags etc. I also have an extra Schneider barrel complete, chambered and Surefire break installed, wear out the current barrel (if you can) unscrew the old barrel and torque this spare on. To finish this off, I have the correct Surefire Suppressor for probably what might be the last run of those. Receiver serial number is roll stamped not the newer engraved "G" prefix, and in the correct serial number range, G6541006. Some of the parts are original issue parts including trigger, but not the stock. Scope is a USMC spec scope, but is NOT USMC MARKED. I could type all day about this rifle, but if you know the M40A5 well enough you know what this rifle really is. Some of these items are rare and only become available from time to time. If you are a serious buyer way more information and pictures on request. I realize this rifle isn't for the average collector, and the price isn't cheap, but for what is being offered it's more than fair.

Rifle can ship to FFL, Suppressor must go to a Class 3
I will provide correct Pelican Case with cutouts for an addition feeView attachment 8722892

PRICE IS NON-NEGOTIABLE
$12,500.

And then they’ll be called RINOs or “traitors” by dipshits for rejecting legislation pushed by [insert Republican president].

For example, how many here were all for the invasion of Iraq? The bailouts? Common sense blah, Etc…

The worldview/morality of the electorate will never extend beyond us vs them.
We know for a fact that the democrat party was hijacked by socialists starting with LBJ. It took them this long to get to the shitshow they have now.

Its going to take years of hijacking the republican party one seat a time to swing it around. Primary turnout is where the initial strength is going to start from.

When I see things like this, I'm certain we need another civil war. It's beyond time to eliminate these folks.

By c Stick with the facts pal. Christians in Germany enthusiasticly supported Nazism. I give zero fucks about your incoherent rambling.
Does it hurt to be that intellectually vapid? If not, it should.
99% of the union army was evangelical Christian and fought to end slavery in this country. Was their religion a problem then? The Soviets murdered millions and weren’t Christian or anything else. What caused them to kill their neighbors, if not Christianity? Pol Pot murdered millions of his countrymen, and he was an atheist. What caused that? You are making some bizarrely tenuous connections to make a point and then dig in when rational people question you. Sometimes a quiet retreat is the best option….

Gunsmithing Orange Vise/Area419 Collab

Wish you guys would make the jaw kits again. I've got the vise, and been on the wait list for the jaws for awhile.

And with my luck, you'll make a few kits, and sell out before I can buy one, just like what happened when you were selling the vice.
Those are happening. I actually think they have gotten through the mills. If you're signed up for the waitlist on the product page you'll be the first to know when they're ready.
