Yeah, I don't know first hand either...and what you say sort makes sense until the original premise / purpose - deliver aid / do no harm, do know harm / and killing are jumbled together in a Kamala like word salad.I don't know enough about this situation to make an informed opinion, but I DO remember reports from the beginning that terrorists were attacking these sites to either disrupt their effectiveness, or to outright steal the aid for themselves. Is it possible that what we're actually seeing is IDF overwatch operations and that those who were killed were seen preparing an attack? Something like the sniper overwatch in say, Fallujah when the Marines were going house-to-house on the streets and overwatch snipers were killing "innocent-looking civilians" whom they had observed hiding weapons or placing IEDs? My first reaction to that video was, "Automatic gunfire?" That's not a very stealthy method if you're trying to get away with something you shouldn't be doing. It's going to call attention to the operation and you'd think they would be prepared for the scrutiny that comes with it (ie, have a good reason for it).
Some how routinely and heavy weapons sounds more discretionary and self assigned purview......... Moreover keep in mind one of the drivers on this is that they whacked international NGO aid workers - w/out declaring them / retro actively proving them as spies. Interesting choice - expose the truth (they were spies, and NGOs are a critical link in the global spy chain) or suffer bad press for arbitrarily killing a nuisance.
The Times of Israel says:
Haaretz report says military looking into possible war crimes, cites soldiers’ testimonies describing a ‘killing field,’ with troops routinely using heavy live fire for crowd control
What I find interesting beyond the micro, is that Israel is having a lot of bad shit written about it at a bad time to have it written; and that such loss of control means shit is showing up both domestically (while Bibi is on trial) and in the US press - and allegedly, the US is the only one in the relationship with a plane and a bomb to really meet certain objectives efficiently, and more safely than they could themselves. Secondly, I find it interesting that Bibi immediately (as in shut this shit down right now) goes to the sacrosanct: comparing this to blood libel. Bold move Cotton - pulling the privilege card as a first step......let's see how his (potential defense) of the same plays out.
