Today in South Africa -
The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) has disrupted the country’s aviation sector by suddenly enforcing a controversial rule that requires all aircraft engines older than 12 years to undergo mandatory overhauls, regardless of flight hours or mechanical condition.
SACAA argues that a strict time-based overhaul schedule is crucial for ensuring flight safety, a stance that has grounded more than 1 400 fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters nationwide.
In many cases, the cost of these overhauls exceeds the value of the aircraft, effectively making them obsolete.
An industry with some 300 000 employees could be economically decimated by the ruling.
Don't give the FAA any ideas.....

Rifle Scopes Hunting Scope suggestions

If I were to choose just one hunting scope, it would be Tangent TT315H with the mrad reticle.

However, it is well above the OP's $2000 limit. Given his reticle visibility requirements, I'd consider Leupold Mark4HD 4.5-18x52 with illuminated PR1 Mil. The new Telson Toxin 3-18x50 has a nicely visible reticle. Both are in the $1500 range.

I am very fond of Vortex Razor HD-LHT 4.5-22x50 and still have one (which is not mean feat given how many scopes come and go here). However, the reticle on the Telson and Leupold is a little more prominent on low power.

If you want SFP, you can get S&B Zenith 3-12x50 for $2k.

Suppressors My Suppressor lost .6oz...

Cleaned my OCL Hydrogen with Breakthrough’s suppressor cleaner. I plugged one end of the suppressor filled it with the cleaner and then plugged the other end. I just let it soak for 24 hours, rinsed and repeated a second time for 24 hours. Weighed 13.47 oz when new, 14.64 oz before cleaning and 13.86 oz after cleaning.

The inside of the suppressor was very clean, but there was still some carbon stuck where the baffles meet the walls. May be next time I may try using my ultrasonic cleaner to see it will break the carbon in those areas loose.

The Breakthrough product is pretty simple to use.
I've gotta figure a way to suspend my suppressors in the ultrasonic cleaner. The finishes on my suppressors are not taking their time in the ultrasonic well.

adjustable gas block

Of the three you listed, I've only used SLR. I think they're high quality and I like them for what they are but they definitely freeze up with carbon IME. And the only thing holding them on is two tiny little grub screws. So expect leaks.

As far as gassing the barrel "properly". It's only going to be gassed properly for one condition. Suppressed or unsuppressed. So, no fault to Ross but he can only do one or the other. If you do have a very low back pressure can I would definitely have it gassed for a brake and then just suck up the back pressure that a low back pressure suppressor will add. To me, the bigger evil is a poorly fitted adjustable gas block than a properly fitted non-adjustable gas block that doesn't choke down the extra gas. I think the standard two grub screw gas blocks are a liability and unnecessary weak point when you consider how much effort we're putting into other parts of the gun. If Ross could cut the journal to a slight thermal fit/ friction fit that would be ideal.
That's the rub. When setting up a rig for competition, you'll often setup the rifle to run as long as it needs to before cleaning, on as little reciprocating mass as possible so that you can run as little gas as possible and get less recoil. The downside to setting up a rifle like that is a sacrifice in flexibility.

The lighter the reciprocating mass, the more sensitive the system will be to changes in gas volume. The heavier the reciprocating mass, the less sensitive it will be to changes in gas volume. When tuning more for reliability and flexibility, tuning to run an H2 or H3 buffer to get you the right closed bolt lock time is the way to go, but you will get more of a recoil impulse.

The Shot You’ll Never Forget Giveaway - Enter To Win A Barrel From Rifle Barrel Blanks!

Wondering thru the ID desert during the mid-80s, enjoying jackrabbit blasting in the time frame of what we called the Mud Lake Bunny Drives, had a couple days off during my USN training routine so I grabbed a Mini-14 and approx. 300 rounds for a walk with some fellow squids. Lots of targets was an understatement but one sticks out decades later.
The jack went running at fullspeed to avoid the folks chasing him and I pulled down him, fired, and watched him literally separate into 2 parts. The rear legs started tumbling almost immediately but the front legs made 3 more strides before it registered nothing was following! He looked at those who had scared him out of his sage brush hide and rolled to a stop. Seemed to be right out of the cartoons.

ICE protest in Spokane WA

Saw that on the news. Apparently, they are slashing truck tires, spitting on cops and doing the usual. The mayor and city council are firmly communist. It looks like they are dreaming of spreading this crap over to CDA this weekend. Standing in the interstate up here will pretty much guarantee a quick and painful death unless the state patrol plans on helping the hate groups.

ICE protest in Spokane WA

There's a protest going on in downtown Spokane WA currently. Law enforcement has deployed smoke cannisters twice. A former city councilman was detained/arrested. (orgainizer) One of the main streets has been blocked by protesters. The mayor has instituted a curfew @930 pm for a portion of downtown, and , has declared a state of emergency.

I say bring out the V plows and tear gas/ pepper spray and rubber bullets. Water cannons too!

No fires or looting yet, as far as I know. Some other arrests have been made.

Couple hours from my AO, perhaps I can help. ;)
