Oh the 80's/90's

Getting to a point in my life where taking new hunters out is the most rewarding/fulfilling thing I do. 17 yo son has a friend with limited exposure to guns/hunting. Brought him out to our place in W. Texas for Easter weekend and took him hunting and shooting steel out to 742m. They went 3/3 at night. Learned some hard lessons going 0/7 first evening with some rare daytime hogs showing up in neighbor’s field. Rifle is 6.5CM AR shooting factory 100 ELD VT with Athlon 640 clip on.

From the VERY beginning it was already damning AF and should have been clear to everyone. It is one thing to carry an assisted or automatic folder, or even a CCW designed fixed blade as part of one's EDC. Everybody here does that, I hope... But sticking a buck naked full sized kitchen knife into your backpack and then heading off to what was supposed to be a wholesome athletic event is SUS AS FUCK. That meant this hoodbooger was heading out with violence in mind that day. And according to witnesses, Austin Metcalf did not even strike a blow. He tried to reason with Karmelo, and then told him to move to his correct seating. AT MOST, Austin had nudged Karmelo's arm to get him to move along. There is nothing to claim self defense about here, and the kitchen knife in the backpack can even be seen as premeditation. That hoodrat was out to hurt somebody.

Busy work season so I have only been gleaning snippets of this and that here and there, but word right now is that this is not going well for that hoodrat Karmelo Anthony. Karmelo has been accused of previous incidences where he also threatened and assaulted others with a knife. His mother has been revealed to be a habitual liar, and the dude they hired to be his attorney is a violent felon with over 15 previous convictions in a variety of assault, sexual, and property crimes...

Yo I ALWAYS said this nigga is a frootloop. Everybody else on both sides of the pond been saying this as well. Confirmed.

I coded my own ballistic calculator with a Ti83+/Ti89 when I was in college in the mid 2000s. I even had a table output option. Was pretty neat and better battery life and ruggedness than the pocket pc/palm pilots of that era. Stopped using it when the iPhone 3 got released.

I remember just a few years ago everyone was all about having the apex of the bipod above the barrel for best stability, etc. Supposedly that was the best way for precision. Now everyone is all about the ckye pods which are the opposite.

I use an atlas and it works good for me.

Got out to my cousin's ranch this weekend to clobber some ground squirrels. 57 Friday including two doubles and 44 today. High grass and lots of tiny young ones made for some challenging shooting.

I have both in mils and did a brief comparison the other morning, but it was cold as ....so I want to do more in depth. my initial impression is that the Cronus 4.5x29 G2 os optically superior to the DNT 7x35.....but not by much. Cronus seemed to have a bit better definition and texture to the image where as comparatively the DNT seemed slightly flat. Very close on light transmission. That showed up more at higher mag. Ill look again tomorrow and add some more.
