I am not going to argue this all day with you. I am not sure what more you want. Your old computer broke for whatever reason, you sent it in. You received a rebuilt/new computer with new hardware in return. The new computer reported itself as a different/new computer with a different serial number. You even stated you had to go in and re-install everything (hence it being basically a new computer). I sent up a request. You only paid for 3 licenses. You had already received 4 and we gave you a 5th for this new/rebuild.

I really don't know how one person can be assisted anymore above and beyond besides getting 5 items when only buying 3.

The computer might look the same on the outside, but when you have reinstall everything after a rebuild it isn't the same. If I was to take the motherboard out of this computer, and replace it. Windows would require I purchase a new copy of windows. So would MAC. And that would only be good for 1 machine/install. I am not sure how to help this make anymore sense. I know this, because my work computer just got a MB/CPU/GPU upgrade basically after my work computer had an issue.

My daughter is entering her senior year of high school. She’s been accepted to a small private university and half of her cost is covered by the university scholarship program. Will be interesting what other scholarships she picks up along the way. She wants to be a PA and they have a fast track for that and partnered with Mayo Clinic. If she’s not accepted into the fast track, they only accept 18 students/year, she’ll be a bio chemistry major and then to grad school for PA. It’s going to be expensive but at least she will make enough money to pay her share upon graduating.

I wish that were not the case, I am sure there are some nice (some) but the truth is my experience has been less than desirable. As more PRS type people enter, hopefully that changes.

The photo you are in reference to is misleading. While the primer produces more visible particles this doesn't necessarily translate to pressure it is due to impurities such as glass added to create more hot particles for igniting powder. Smokeless gunpowder relies on high temperature plasma( gas) or particles for ignition.

In theory, the Solus 'looks' better on paper - integral rail, recoil lug, "fat" bolt with 60 degree throw, trigger hanger, cut for AW mags.

None of which I've ever really found myself 'needing'. The rail and lug on the Origin are pinned, the 90 degree bolt is maybe a little lighter, and I've never subscribed to the notion of hot-swapping triggers on a field gun, personally. The AW mags are a nice option to have, though.

The Origin is controlled-round feed, with a fixed mechanical ejector, vs the dual plunger design of the Aero. Both have their pros and cons; all I'll say is that dual ejector on a bolt gun just seems... weird. Works, though, by all accounts.

That's about as even-handed as I can be regarding the two. The big difference is the customer support. Aero burned a lot of bridges over the past 12 months, you really can't piss in the well more than Aero did. The local Aero apologist (I'll let you figure out that one on your own) will tell you all about who/what/why, and why you should buy it anyway. On the other hand, if you need support from Zermatt, you can typically get ahold of a *person* in pretty short order. The owner (Ray) frequents the forum here, and is responsive as well. Aero? Good fucking luck.

One of the problems when we talk about the OASYS UTM specifically is that it was marketed as a "military style (real) clip on that has collimation", but it was not really true, but most people do not know this. You’re probably correct about where much of the misunderstanding comes from. I’ve seen UTMs and Skeetir-Ls that were well collimated across a few rifles that they were tested on, but you mostly need UTM-X or Skeetir-X to get that result… perhaps a more significant name change would have been wise when reliable collimation came into the picture.

I wouldn’t stand behind the abilities of any non-collimated thermal (civilian or military) in any mount whatsoever when used in a clip on capacity. They usually have to be mounted to the hand guard, and most of us don’t trust hand guards for mounting scopes, due to flex among other reasons. I know some people have had acceptable results, but it’s not an avenue that I’m interested in messing with.

I've been reading your posts man, and I like your approach. I was once forced to do Statistics I and II, then Quantitative Data and Analysis, and a couple other statistics-related classes for my final degree. I'll never argue against more data or inputs, but I do believe that sometimes one can collect data that is relatively unnecessary to their practices. Will an 80 round sample provide substantially more accurate data? Yes. Does it apply to the guy who is going to be shooting a few rounds in field conditions from unknown positions? Not nearly as much *I believe* because external factors are going to be the random variable and influence the previous data.

I'm interested in seeing just how much your mean radius and velocity readings changes from your 5-shot group aggregates, to the end product of your 30-round group. I've always been in the camp of doing (3-4) five shot groups, to include shooting a couple at distance to proof a load (vertical dispersion as well as accurate velocity), and then sticking with it if the results are fairly consistent. That is simple man's terms.

If you could also record the environmental factors throughout your group shooting (wind etc..), that would be awesome.

I'm not going to argue with you. But, you cannot deny there is something special about doing it over and over again and maintaining that attention to detail and precision.

Cooking isn't hard.
For almost a hundred years Michelin Stars can tell you how good a restaurant and chef are. You can't get a star by opening a great restaurant. They send a team of inspectors/critics to eat there (anonymously, they pay their own tab) four times a year. If four consecutive visits come back with high enough scores you will get a star. Once you have a star they send their team every 18 months. If after ten visits you have a high enough score you will get a second star (nine years). The first star is a big deal. The second one is HUGE. A third star is by far the hardest to get, and represents everything that it took to get the first two, and a uniqueness that can't be found anywhere else at any price...
Getting a star is based on:

1. Quality of the products
2. Mastery of flavor and cooking techniques
3. The personality of the chef in their cuisine
4. Value for money
5. Consistency between visits.

You have to do it very well and have all five to be considered for a star. On any given Sunday many restaurants can get the first four. Both chefs and restaurant owners will tell you that the most difficult one is #5. Most people can be great for a day. Being good every time the doors open and for every patron is where the biggest separation lies between greatness and mediocrity.

I would venture that under your tutelage and equipment it would not be overly difficult to preform all the operations to produce a precision rifle that shoots straight. Doing it right every time all the time is another matter entirely. Don't sell yourself short Mr. Lott. People don't buy your rifles because you can make a good one and you've made a couple of good ones. They buy them because it isn't a crap shoot, and their expectations will be met every time. THAT is a bigger dividing line than anything else.

There's a life lesson in there somewhere.

No, the 3 install limit is because it does cost money for us to maintain, unlock, service, update, and support the software. We don't need to pay our employees to eat, its all good.

The agencies running the software have all bought extra or bulk licenses to cover the new devices when they ran out. Never been an issue.

Their was nothing to "make right" honestly. You wanted a 5th license/install for an RMA device after only purchasing 3. We didn't break your laptops or want new laptops after x amount of years.
