AB Quantum and Sig kilo 10k gen2

Asking for confirmation from anyone who has the AB Quantum app and the sig kilo 10k gen 2. I am having an issue with the 10ks not sending the azimuth to the app under the target tab. If i range a target the inclination does change on app to what the binos are showing in the hud but the azimuth( direction of fire) does not update on the app in the target screen under azimuth. only the phone icon when pressed changes the azimuth. the hud in bino's do show the change in dof but doesn't seem to push the data for azimuth to the bino's. anyone experience this?

Help me pick a chassis for a B14R Heavy

I’m building a second precision rimfire. I don’t shoot prs but I’m looking to a build it similar as a trainer and long range setup. Prone/tripod/barricade etc

Looking at chassis options. I run a B14R already. But want a second one setup similar for shooting with the family and buddies

Current setup is a B14R 18” steel/DNT/MPA BA Comp/TT primary two stage

Thinking of setting the second one up with a B14R 20”/DNT and trying to decide on the chassis. I’ll probably run a trigger tech two stage in this one as well

Looking mainly at the MDT elite or MPA Matrix currently. The con is the balance. I think the MPA matrix will be super rear heavy.

Share your thoughts and pics if you have them.

Two things I’m concerned of most is

1) Reliable feeding. My comp doesn’t have an adjustable mag catch and one mag of three for sure has issues. The others feed fine

2) Balance- not super ass end heavy without the need for a stupid amount of weights

Current B14R prior to the DNT upgrade

22 arc build recommendations

I am wanting to build a 22 arc to throw my suppressor on and shoot prairie dogs on my ranch. Everything is flood irrigated so I will be walking around and carrying the gun everywhere. I don't want to spend crazy money because the gun will get abused. I would like a higher capacity detachable mag and the lighter the better. I've never built a gun but would like to because I'm not really interested in any bolts I can find right now. What would you guys recommend?

Results June 2025 Topstraps Rimfire Challenge

June match is history with three days of really calm winds, A couple sprinkles on Friday and a downpour so heavy on Sunday I could not see the targets past 150 yards, It didn't last long. Turnout was kinda down compared to last year but maybe due to high prices for everything, multiple shoots or high prices of everything. Friday was really busy with a few good scores being shot which let everyone know they had better be on their A game. I think this is the best month we've seen for having shooters clean the 197 yard rack of 10 targets ranging from 10" down to 1". Congratulations Chris using Ugly Beddy, Josh Moodispaw with a Vudoo, Randy Wise with his Exemplar Pistol, Travis Art with a CZ457, Mike Art with an Anschutz (Father & Son, first time ever for that) and Ronald Bagnato (first time at my match and second time ever at a Longrange Rimfire match) Scores keep going up with the better ammo being used. I'll post another post about my thoughts on Ammo and Equipment for this game separately. We got to see good examples of this over the course of the weekend.

This months bonus was little Dum-Dum Lollypops at 85 yards. When you finished the 197 yard rack you dialed back to 85 yards and got 5 shots. There was a rack with 10 Lollypops and a single 3 inch sighter hanging under them. You got a total of 5 shots and you could use as many sighters you wanted to get perfect but those came out of your 5 shots. Nearly everyone used their first shot at the sighter then went from there. There were seven shooters that got 4 kills. A couple left bullet lube on the side but it wiggles. Randy was the first shooter of the match and barely quivered it, we had to make a decision on how to score it so everyone was treated equally. It was ruled a hit but due to Randy nickname of the "King of the Nickers" he really lived up to it with that shot. I'll post a picture of it and also Joshs' "Randy" hit. Everyone really got a kick out of seeing them vaporize with a good solid hit, They were a tad under 3/4" so they made a tough target with the slightly switching breeze.

I had a few new shooters that had never seen a match like this before, One group came down with only 2 or 3 shooting but the rest cheered on they buddies. Bill Gardner brought a Ruger Precision using Blazer ammo, they said they tried to get him to shoot some better stuff but he wanted to try the Blazer and see how it'd do. He actually did quite well for never shooting out that far at targets like this with absolutely no settings and ammo that isn't usually used in the same sentence with accuracy or long range rimfire shooting. At 197 yards he got 7 out of 10 of the 10" down to 1" targets which is outstanding. It was a pleasure spotting for you and watching you shoot. You all are welcome back anytime.

Saturday was slow in the morning so I took the time to work on Ugly Beddy, some know of it but others may never have heard about the gun. I'll post another thread on the history of Ugly Beddy but with a little work with a hacksaw, woodscrews, impact driver ,screwdriver and hammer She's back maybe better than ever. Threw a SWFA 5-20 scope on it and tried some Eley Blackbox Match which we've never shot in it before Chris shot the match. Eye opener for sure, most won't believe it but it's got a cool story behind it. Detailed thread to follow on Facebook pages, Rimfire Central, Accurate Shooter and Snipers Hide in the Rimfire sections.

On to the match report, thanks to everyone that came and braved the chances of rain. Is always enjoyable chatting and watching everyone shoot. Amazing the various types of equipment and ammo being used and see first hand behind a spotting score for each shot to really see how it performs.

There is no "A" class winner this time due to Tim Humphrey using "B" class SK Biathlon in his Vudoo and kicking butt on the "A" class competitors. It came down to a couple shooters gambling on the small 1/4" wide bowling pin at 100 yards and missing it that separated the winners. Gotta gamble to win but can cost ya if ya miss. Good job Tim, that's his goal is to try and keep up with the better ammo competitors with mid range stuff but he does have an exceptional lot of Biathlon. To rub it in he grins and says he "found" a full case of it by accident in his gun room.

Darrell Smith brought down his Winchester 52D with peep sights and really did well missing only 7 regular 4moa match targets. Since he couldn't see the little Lollypops we decided to let his shoot the small middle target at 87 yards on the Odd Shape rack which may be a tad over 1 inch and he hit it 4 out of 5 times. Well done Darrell, very impressive to watch a shooter hit little targets looking thru two small holes in pieces of steel and be that accurate. Some of his groups at a lot of distances would equal the scoped competitors. He also did this with CCI Std ammo.

Due to the 25 yard target getting a dimple in it and worry about a possible deflection towards us I bypassed it and gave everyone the max score of 6 on it. Some scores with up a couple and others stayed the same but I'll address that for next match. I switched a couple racks around and the new rack was not AR500 and was not smoother on the front surface as the match progressed.

Before I forget talking about ammo, Josh Moodispaw shot some newly purchased Eley Match on Friday and it was terrible. He runs a suppressor and easily 1/3 of his shots cracked, later he checked and it was something crazy extreme spread and std. dev. He reentered a second time with some proven Eley Match and was night and day difference. Eley seems to have a big hit/miss luck with ammo lots you get. If you get good it's great but you never know. Ron also shot cheaper ammo early and some Eley Match he picked up Sat morning and it shot way way better than the Eley version of Wolf. It's all ammo in my opinion with an even decent gun.

Free entries for next month is "A" no one "B" Tim Humphrey "C" Darrell Smith

Suppressors 338ARC AR can choice: 9mm or 338?

Picked up a KAK 338 ARC 8.5 AR15 barrel on impulse and figured it's a good excuse as any to get a 9mm can.

That said, are 300BO sub rated pistol cans also good for 338ARC? If so, anyone have a particular favorite?

I don't care so much about overall sound performance or weight as I do flash/heat reduction since I plan to shoot with a dedicated thermal sight.

Ideally something HUB compatible.

If *not* a 9mm can, should I just send it on a 338 magnum can from Surefire or TBAC?

Carl Zeiss Sports Optics to close shop

Carl Zeiss Sports Optics GmbH has announced that the production of optics for hunting and nature observation in Wetzlar is facing closure. Seventy employees will be affected.

Wetzlar. Carl Zeiss Sports Optics GmbH will cease production in Wetzlar by the end of 2026. The company announced this in a statement on Tuesday. According to Zeiss, approximately 70 jobs are affected by this decision. Employees were also informed of the move on Tuesday. Carl Zeiss Sports Optics GmbH is considered the world's leading manufacturer of binoculars, riflescopes, and spotting scopes. It is a subsidiary of Carl Zeiss AG.

Company speaks of “ongoing economic losses”
The challenging geopolitical and economic conditions are having varying effects on the Zeiss Group's business units. Demand for analog binoculars, spotting scopes, and riflescopes in the premium segment is declining, according to the statement explaining the reasons for the upcoming closure at the Wetzlar site.

“Price and competitive pressure, the deteriorating consumer climate, the disruptive shift to digital products, and the structural cost disadvantage in Germany are leading to ongoing economic losses in the production of optics for hunting and nature observation in Wetzlar,” explains Joachim Kuss from Corporate Communications at Zeiss Photonics & Optics.

The production of binoculars, spotting scopes, and riflescopes in Wetzlar will therefore only continue until the end of 2026. However, Carl Zeiss Sports Optics will continue to be represented at the Wetzlar site with customer service, logistics, and quality assurance.

"The employees in the Wetzlar production facility are doing an excellent job, and everyone involved has fought to ensure that we can continue producing here in the future," said Torsten Scheidt, Managing Director of Carl Zeiss Sports Optics GmbH, in the statement. However, the market changes, particularly in recent years, are so significant "that we cannot maintain the current value chain." In the coming months, discussions will be held with employee representatives to discuss how the affected employees can be actively supported and how the job cuts can be implemented in a socially acceptable manner.

The company's press release makes it clear that the focus in Wetzlar is on semiconductor manufacturing: Zeiss is represented at the site with its Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology (SMT) division, which has grown significantly in recent years. A second production site for the semiconductor division is currently being built in Wetzlar. The so-called multifunctional factory in Dillfeld will expand production and development capacity by approximately 12,000 square meters. Upon completion in 2026, Zeiss SMT in Wetzlar will employ approximately 500 people.

Does anyone else ponder the narrow range of projectile diameters?

The vast majority of projectiles shooters use fall between .22 and .30 - a range of just 8 hundredths of an inch. Sure people use .17s and 50 cal but I bet over 95% of rifles fall between 22 & 30.

I am sure this range was determined based on trial and error over the evolution of rifles I just find it kind of fascinating that there is such a small range that works. Looking at competition shooters most are using between .243 & .264 a range of 2 hundredths of an inch. It is pretty wild how well we have narrowed down what is best.

Bergara early M40A3-ish in 22lr

This is a teaser for a new project that I'm working on. Bergara 14X rimfire action in an early Mcmillan A4 "Big Hook" Stock.

Bottom metal is a Hawkins M5 that accepts AICS mags. I know the early M40A3's had DD Ross but I still wanted to use the Magazines that came with the rifle.

Harris 6-9 Bipod with the KMW pod lock and TIS Sling.

BO M40A3 spec rings with an airsoft copy of the MST-100 scope. Looks great but not sure of how it's going to function.

I hate to geek out and spend this kind of money on a 22 but this is a rifle I can shoot in my backyard. I can't say that about any other rifle I own.

1st pic is of my rifle...second 2 are inspiration pics...I love these early M40A3's.

Firearms 2014 AI AT /AO SOLD* barrels and mags remaining

I have for sale a 2014 quick lock, AI AT that has been installed in an Accuracy Obsession chassis with an AX butt stock conversion, GTAC AR pistol grip conversion, and AI competition trigger.

The action is bedded into the chassis just like it was in the original AT chassis. The AX buttstock conversion also required bedding. I bought the rifle used just for this project and have long since sold off the original chassis. It has a Hoptic check pad(plus two spare replacements), a PLF338 3D printed bag rider along with the original AI bag rider. MPA EVG grip. The competition trigger is set to what I would guess is 1.75lbs and has never had a hiccup. It has been 100% reliable so it's kind of a unicorn. The chassis comes with two internal weights. A 1lb and a 2lb. It has full ARCA and MLOK. The rifle will come with one mag. Your choice of the modified AW that has the +2 MDT extension or an unmolested AW mag. No barrel. No scope. The chassis has some cerakote wear marks and the bolt face has some fire checking from the previous owner pushing 308 and Varget hard. I've had no issues with the bolt or entire rifle for that matter. The bolt is stupid slick. Large Primer firing pin. Everything functions and shoots well. The 6.5CM and 6CM barrels shoot really damn well. $3400

Available to the buyer is a total of 10 AW mags.

9 additional mags $500

Proof AI prefit in 308W. 26", 1600rds $600

Proof 26" full bull 6.5CM by Fritz at Black Canyon Customs. 560rds $800

Proof Comp contour 6GT, 24" by Straightjacket Armory. 1200rds $300

Proof Heavy Palma 6CM, 26" by Straightjacket Armory. 680rds. $300

$1200 for both CF barrels. $1500 for all four.

6BR Barrel with .050 more freebore

I started shooting 6BR on an MPA chambered barrel a couple years ago and it shoots Hornady 108s great with .035 jump. I just got an AI AT-XC and put a Mile High Factory WinTac 6BR barrel on it. When I measured the AI barrel, it has .050 more freebore to the lands that the MPA barrel. I haven't seen this with other calibers when getting different barrels, they are all pretty close, but .050 seems like a big difference. I used the standard OAL tool to find the lands on both barrels with the same bullet.

Anyone run into this before - these are both very high quality barrels and smiths? Is there a 6BR variant that is shorter and longer? I am planning to load for the 2 rifles differently and run the AI rounds longer to make up the difference.

Hornady 108 ELDM
MPA - 2.350 OAL to Lands
AI - 2.400 OAL to Lands
