URSA NorCal - Sunday, June 15, 2025

URSA NorCal - Sunday, June 15, 2025

Location
– Clear Lake area (same as prior, coordinates 39°14'21.0"N 122°50'50.0"W)

NOTE: Following the June event, URSA will be dark during the various deer hunting seasons, resuming events in October.

Setup will be done late Saturday or early Sunday morning by our NorCal crew. Target(s) will be in place at minimum 2000 yards. IRIS hit-indicators will be in place and be the sole control for official hits and misses. The initial target distance for NorCal is 2147 yards, all California-legal firearms and ammunition are allowed, no weight restrictions, and no fees.

The Match Director will decide how many shooters need to be signed up to move forward with this event. Unless the event is formally cancelled (as announced on this and other posting sites), assume it is going forward.

IF you want to shoot multiple rifles, you need to complete a registration for each one. If you expect to be shooting with us more than once, I suggest you do yourself a favor and build a text file in your word processor and then just copy and paste. NOTE: IF you seriously think you will score 5 in 10 or better, please DO take the time to enter ALL the info requested in the Build Sheet section - will save me e-mailing you to get missing info and hasten getting results posted on the URSA site (News and Stats pages) and the non-Cal Guns sites. Thanks.

If you want to shoot this event, you MUST sign up ONLINE (see below). Registrations MUST be received no later than 1 PM the day before the event. There will be NO onsite registrations. Registration is required for all shooters, spotters, and anyone that will be on or in the general proximity of the shooting line. NO exceptions!

The URSA Official Course of Fire is at FAQ 13, near the bottom of this page on the URSA website - https://www.unlimitedrange.org/operations.html All shooter should review the course of fire prior to arriving at the venue. Substantial additional data regarding URSA events are included on the same web page.

Sign-Ups: URSA uses the online program, Zoho Forms, to capture shooter Liability Releases and Build Sheet data, and spotter/other Liability Releases – Liability Releases are signed and dated at the event. Please use the appropriate link at the top of the Activity/Event Schedule page (http://www.unlimitedrange.org/activity event schedule.html). If you have any problem with the online form, please e-mail me ASAP ([email protected]). BTW, the form asks for limited “address” info (only city, state, and ZIP), we do NOT need your street address.

Supertrickler Gen 2 Tuning

Howdy,

I've got a supertrickler gen 2 and I wonder if anyone has any tips for tuning it for optimal loading times?

I have experimented with adjusting the bulk, fine, and pulse rates and letting the AI sort of trim up or down to get that .02+- threshold, and it can now get damn close in 2-3 seconds...

But it does this annoying as hell thing where for some reason no matter the base vibrator rate, on/off rates, ramping rates, etc... the powder seems to either have the last few kernels further back in the tube so it takes 10-15 extra seconds for it to migrate it up and drop it.

OR, the powder will somehow build a little log cabin and will take 5-10 seconds to drop it, at which point it will be an overcharge.

Does anyone have an experience with this? not a lot of information out there about using these really high end lab scale and trickle setups.

Sig Kilo 5K vs Leica CRF-PRO

Looking at these two rangefinders don’t have a kestrel and don’t trust the reliability of a constant blue tooth link to my phone so I’ll be using the internal solver. Looks like Leica has a compass and the wind can be adjusted in the unit itself. Does anyone have any input or recommendations? I’m hesitant to go binocular because I’m married to it.
That an for any input.

25cm or 6cm

I have had a kelbly atlas tac that has been sitting around for over a year and I'd like to turn it into a dedicated deer rig. Recently the 25 Creedmoor caught my interest and I've been researching it, but everyone is shooting the heavies. I'd like to shoot the 110 sierra tmk or the 115 berger if I went that route.

That being said, the more I think about it, would I be gaining/ losing anything if I went with a 6CM with 100-108gr over a 25cm with 110-115 grain bullets?

Can't imagine the velocity and BC would be much different and I'd never take shots on game over 400 yards. Just curious everyone's thoughts.

Thanks fellas

Another Parker Hale Suppressor

I picked up another Parker Hale .22 suppresser from an online auction site last week. It was only $50 NZ (about $30 US) so, even though I don't need it, I brought it.

I went and picked it up from the guy's house yesterday. He was only about 15 minutes from my house.

Very light use, but still with the original box, instructions and even the wrapping paper.

This is about the fifth Parker Hale suppressor I have. They are my favorite rimfire cans. Steel construction and will last forever.

The end cap on this one is recessed, making it a little different from the others which have flat end caps. The rod is for aligning the baffles when reassembling after cleaning.
