M40a1 build guide

Well a couple of you have asked for a build guide for our M40a1 take off stocks. I am building an accurate clone, and learning as I go. I am by no means an expert, but I'm trying to find the right information just like many of you. Please post if it directly pertains to a the topic at hand or better yet just email me so we can keep the information condensed.

Delta Stryker 3.5-21x44 review in the making.

I took delivery of said scope about a week ago. I will run it through its paces the following two months.
It has been sighted in at 100 meters and ive shot 150 rounds from 15-300 meters at my local range. Plan to shoot a lot more with it.

What are key points that you would like to read about or is curious about?
I am interested in any pointers or suggestions.

Thanks for helping out.

Best lever bipod clamp?

I have a Ckye pod and the clamp is fine but I want to get a lever clamp for convenience. I have a gray ops clamp and like it for the most part. I'm good with going RRS if the extra money is worth it and I even have been looking at the Leofoto because I have heard they work well. Im not into spending more because of a brand but Iwill spend more for quality if it worth the price difference. Anyone have any good or bad to say about any of them and are there any others I need to look at. I'm going with the gray ops arms 17 mount and shoot mainly PRS.

Optics Trijicon ACOG 4x32

Trijicon ACOG 4x32 Scope w/Dual Illuminated Green Crosshair .223 Ballistic Reticle w/TA51 Mount, Black TA31-CH-G, The optic is in like-new condition with very little use. The original box was unfortunately lost during a move, and the price reflects that. It did come in one of the newer ACOG hard cases, so the date of manufacture is likely from 2023 or 2024. Not looking for any trades at this time.

Plenty of positive feedback on Tacswap, feel free to message me there as well for confirmation.

$850 shipped to you.

Weird Eley Match Lot#

Put a new CZ457 together with a Brux barrel and MDT chassis. Been going through different ammo to get a feel for what it liked. It seems to really like the Eley Match so I ordered 8 lots. All of them overall shot really good but found one lot that shot exceptionally well with a velocity range I liked with low SD’s.
So I ordered 3000 of said lot and when it comes in I go to shooting it. Shoots really well but here’s the odd part. It’s actually two different lots. The lot I tested and part of the lot I ordered match up perfectly. Average velocity of 1091fps and SD 4-5. The second lot within this lot has an average velocity of 1111fps with an SD of 6. So far I’ve tested 18 boxes and they two lots are about 50/50. You can test a box and the whole box will be one or the other with SD’s being right at what I posted above. I’ve been in the competitive 22 for a long time and I’ve seen a lot of things but never anything like this. Not going to be that big of a deal but will have to go through every box and chrono and mark that box as one or the either. 🤷

Self-proclaimed Pit Masters of SH- I've got some questions

For those here that are well versed with the smoking of meat- I've got a Weber SMC coming this week and it'll be my first experience into giving this type of cooking a try myself (although I am a longtime fan of the end result). So as mentioned- I've got a SMC coming, approximately 70lbs of Kingsford Blue Briquettes, as well as Hickory/Cherry/Mesquite/Pecan/Apple Wood chunks.

I've been reading through various online articles and watching YouTube videos over the past week and it sounds like either pork butt or chicken thighs is the most forgiving for starting out and I'm leaning towards starting with the thighs myself. I think I'm good with the importance of maintaining temperature and how to do it (I also have a Termopro temperature gauge in the order with two probes, one of which I believe is best served to use one to monitor the ambient temperature at the rack with the 2nd being used to monitor meat temperature), understand the trimming of various cuts of meats, dry rubs, and marinating/basting timing. If I start with the thighs, I'm thinking of using either the Pecan, Cherry or Applewood for the first time (I prefer the heavy smoke flavor that hickory or Mesquite will impart but I'll likely have a crowd to evaluate how things turn out so understand the alternatives to be a bit milder/safer for a group.

I'm still trying to figure out the whole wet/dry brining element though as well as to understand the variations in smoking temperature. I've also seen some recipes where they put the chicken thighs in a pan rather than directly on the grill/arguments on whether or not to use the water pan (seems to focus more towards it being more favorable for the lower temperatures as far as I can tell but chicken seems to want to be smoked hotter than say the pork butt ... So many variables and I'm still trying to figure it all out.

All that said- for the Pit Masters here, any tips/tricks for someone starting out on their smoking journey that you'd be willing to share?

SOLD Bergara Premier in KRG Bravo 6.5 Creedmoor

Selling a Bergara Premier barreled action chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor inside of a KRG Bravo chassis with an enclosed forend. Picked this up from a fellow Hide member recently. Shoots well, but I want to change things up a bit. Round count is 135. Comes with a 20moa MDT base, Arca rail, Triggertech Special, and 419 Hellfire 30cal brake. $1700 and buyer pays shipping. I can also sell the Arken 5-25 with the rings as a package for $2000. Located in EHT, NJ.

I would be interested in trading for a MK12 Mod0, AMP annealer, higher end rifle optics, or 300prc reloading components.
