Cold bore shift - help

First, I'm new to bolt rifles. So please go easy on me.. and I appreciate anyone taking the time to share their knowledge.

I am trying to sight in a new rifle for a cold bore, as the immediate use is for hunting. Hopefully some long range in the future. (Bergara HMR Pro - 300 Win Mag/Nightforce NX8 4-32).

My question is to ensure a cold bore, has anyone used a hand-held blower like the wolfbox (picture below) to blow air through a rifle to cool it quickly? I assume this is fine for the metal, as they heat up quickly so they can probably cool quickly as well..?

I am limited to an outdoor public range with 15min on/off Shooting and a 1.5hr time slot.. So every cold shot is critical. Not to mention i may only get there one more time before the season begins.

Precision Rifle Gear Pfl338 3d printing goods

So I have been meaning to do this review for some time but life has been bonkers the last 6 months.

I wanted to highlight some of the products that @pfl338 makes that make my life easy easier.

He is a humble guy and shooting enthusiast who quietly makes awesome 3d printed products some that I have been using for several years.

If you have an AI you need to get one of his mag paddle releases. Anytime I play with another ai and it doesn't have that mag release I'm like ugh that sucks when trying to do a msg change. Yes I run it backwards as I prefer the smooth side to my finger sausage.

20250419_090621.jpg

He makes a great trigger shoe as well. .

Lately been running his Garmin pic mount. Comes with a slot to store the Garmin mount screw.

I also have been running his sled for single loading some really long 300 NM loads.
20250419_090604.jpg

He also makes my empty chamber indicator in orange that loads like a mag.

He also makes these awesome 8lb and 1lb powder funnels. They screw onto the jug so no more spilled retumbo. They also flip around and allow you to easily pour powder back into the jugs from the hopper.

Will update with more in a bit.

Practical Powder Measurement System for Analog Scales - No Zero Drift!

Hi All,

I’m hoping to get some feedback on a product that I’m thinking about selling but don’t yet have the means to produce it with reasonable effort. So thanks for taking a look, and thanks a lot for commenting if you can. Is it practical? Would you be interested? Any suggestions?

I developed this over the past few years after finally giving up on (reasonably priced) electronic scales. My day job is in a laboratory where our rule for zero drift is a maximum of %1 of expected measurement range over 24 hours. So I know a little bit about measurement in general. Some of the scales I tried at home had more than 10% drift in under a minute. I do suppose there are decent scales out there ($$$$$), but I will contend that if you have to zero before every load (like automatic units), and even between every batch, you really don’t know how much powder you're dropping.

The problem is that old fashioned analog scales are practically unusable. They are clumsy on the benchtop. Easily knocked around. Virtually impossible to read consistently due to parallax error, not to mention the horrible ergonomics of trying to line your eye up on it while it’s in a usable location. They are extremely sensitive to even the slightest draft in your work space, even the draft caused by slowly moving your arm close by. And they do suffer zero shift as dust accumulates, although this is much more on the order of <1% in 24 hours.

So I think I solved all that. For my large batches and pistol rounds I love my RCBS Uniflow. But for my precision work this seems to be pretty ok.

Thoughts?

J Willey

6.5 CM Factory Ammo

Just wanted to share some data from separate range trips. I did not go downrange to get pictures of the groups. I wish we could start a trend of posting SD, ES and average numbers for factory ammo, then let the shooter discover what groups best.

Rimfire Ruger 77/17 Zytel Boat Paddle Stock, Green Mountain Barrel

Ruger 77/17 17HMR. Zytel (boat paddle) stock, includes blued Ruger 1" scope rings and 2 Ruger magazines. Green Mountain barrel with 1/2" threaded muzzle, threaded thread protector, and a reverse taper near muzzle. When I got this rifle it had some surface rust between the stock and the right side of the action. I cleaned it off and oiled, but there is some very minor pitting. Does not affect function in any way - see pic out of stock for condition. Stock shows signs of use. Trigger is right around 1.5 pounds and very smooth. Rifle shot 0.5-0.7" at 50 yards with no effort put into ammo selection. $1250 shipped to FFL in CONUS.

New Arch Bishop of Canterbury in UK - The first "female..."

Apparently, the Church of England has a new Arch Bishop of Canterbury. And for the first time, it's a female. I have no idea who she is yet, but if she's anything like the arch bishop that spoke on the morning of Pres. Trump's 2nd inauguration, we are in some serious trouble.

Already, there is a serious schism ripping apart the Anglican Communion. The US based "Anglican" church has split from the "US Episcopal" church (in which I was raised) due to Episcopal policies such as LGBTQ clergy, etc. I truly hope this new Arch Bishop doesn't fan those flames, or we might never be united again.
