It has a K624 Gen 2 LSW with the SKMR4 reticle and Aadmount flip ups. Rife only $3000. Rifle and scope $4500. Any questions please ask, I probably left something out.

Firearms Roberts Precision .308

I have my Roberts Precision .308 up for grabs. Aaron built this rifle for me back in 2017 as a practice rifle. It is set up just like my comp 6.5 x 47 that I have posted. S prefix 700 action, Benchmark MTU finished and threaded at 25'', JAE stock, Jewell trigger. Throated for the 178 ELD. All metal cerekoted black. I never got around to using it, rifle is completely unfired. I have around 400 pieces of once fired gold medal brass, 5 boxes of ELD's, and Redding match dies that I would make someone a deal on with the rifle. It has a K24 Gen 2 LSW and the AMR reticle on it and Aadmount flip ups. $3000 for the rifle, $4500 for the rifle and scope. I would prefer a FTF in OK, but will ship on buyers dime. Please let me know if you have any questions, I have probably left something out.

How do you know if bedding is needed?

Hey fellow hiders,

TLDR:

Torquing and loosening action screws causes action to shift up and down. Stock has aluminum bedding block but maybe its not making a perfect mate.

FULL STORY:

I've got a rifle that quite frankly I can't seem to get shooting to my liking and struggles with consistency. It's a cheap rifle to start with, so I'm not expecting half inch groups all the time or smaller. It's a howa mini in 6.5 grendel with a bell and Carlson stock.

I chose this stock because I have another howa mini with a boyds stock that did not come with an aluminum bedding block so that one for sure needed to be bedded.

I did not want to go through all that again so I got a stock with a bedding block in it hoping that would be the easy button. I've thrown many different bullets, primers, and powders.

The problem is, I'll get a decent group once while doing a ladder and when I load that charge again to verify, it's nowhere near the initial result. I cannot repeat results when something looks good. Throughout many strings, I've had very low ESs & SDs on multiple occasions but never decent groups. Or as said previously, if I see a good group, it will not repeat it.

As I torque down or loosen the action screws, the whole thing starts to shift up or down. I've tried holding it pressed up against the stock, believing that the entire flat bottom of the action is mated up perfectly along the length of the bedding block. So it should not move since there is technically no pivot point, right? The entire length of the action bottom is pressed up against the bedding block.

Well maybe I'm starting to think I'm wrong and that's not the case. If there was a high point somewhere in between, it would cause the action to pivot. That would create a point of stress no? Am I onto something? Is there another way to diagnose if the action is stressed in the stock? Let me know yalls thoughts.

Below is a list of components I've thrown at it.

Scoped Carbine Cheat Sheet

I put together a scoped carbine cheat sheet that I thought some people here might find useful. I made a more generalized AR-15 version a while ago but I wanted to make one that was tailored more towards the scoped general purpose rifles, DMR's, and SPR's with LPVO's, 2.5-10's, 4-16's etc...as a quick pocket reference for pertinent information. I borrowed some elements from a data book I put together and things like the modern wind rose from here. I made it to be printed on a 8 1/2" X 11" piece of paper, laminated, and folded to fit into a pocket, admin pouch, or whatever.

I purposely kept the information basic and somewhat limited because of the limited amount of room on the sheet but I think it'll work for most purposes. It's not likely one would be doing any serious ranging with say the mrad reticle in a Vortex 1-6 but if one can bracket an IPSC for height and width the distance can get worked out close enough to get hits within 5.56 distances. The wind rose and mirage chart are to help estimate the wind speed and direction but it's predicated on knowing your basic wind holds for the rifle or gun mph. The information is for reference setting up a drop chart, doing maintenance, or evaluating a target. I hope some of you find it useful.

My Inexpensive Tac Table Solution

I built a very inexpensive Tac Table Setup here, that works surprisingly well. For those not looking to spend a fortune:
$45 Sun and Shadow Gen III Tripod table
$25 Etsy POI Kestrel Holder
$10 x 2 Triggercam Pic Rail Accessory Mount (On sale for $10, down from $39.99)

So for $90 and the price of two 5 slot MLOK pic rail pieces it works.

22Dasher Load Data

I am looking for a source of load data for a 22 Dasher I bought recently just for the fun of something new. I have solved the brass problem by necking down some Alpha 6 Dasher brass. It worked great. Now I need to know what I can safely put in the brass to produce a quality load. Does anyone have any suggestions for a source. I have tried all the usual sources and can’t locate anything. Thanks, Doug

Wooden siding - possible mold

Wooden siding is rotting and I believe there’s mold between the walls somewhere. I can’t see it but it smells horrible. Talked to the landlord and he basically told me that there’s no money to replace the siding since they just fixed up another rental property. The earliest he can do anything is next Spring.

None of us are allergic or anything but we would like to get rid of the smell. Any suggestions on how to do that?

MST100 Interest?

Alright, Clone Fanatics, here it is, the thread you’ve been waiting for! This is the place to profess your interest in buying a MST100 (Not saying Unertl or USO) scope.

I had a lengthy phone call with John Williams III today regarding the possibility of having a run of scopes made. He is interested in completing the project provided there is commitment for the sale of fifty (50) of them. That commitment will probably be in the form of some kind of deposit.

The production will likely be a hundred (100) units, as machine shops don’t normally care to program machines and gear up to do less than that.

He is going to do some work in the next couple weeks to try to arrive at a price. However, with the cost of materials these days, he estimates that they could cost approximately $4000.00. Keep in mind that time is valuable, and his work to narrow the price of the scope down takes him away from what pays the bills. With that said, like the car sale websites say, no tire-kickers, please. I know that with the price up in the air there will hesitance and a somewhat tentative nature to this, but please be serious when you say you want X number of scopes.

I am not getting paid or compensated in any manner for any of this. I have simply created a thread for you guys to speak up. I’ll tell him what you all say. The way this thread turns out will determine whether the scopes get built or not.

So, have at it.

At a per unit cost of approximately $4000 each, who would buy a newly manufactured MST100 scope?

Triggercam Scope Cam

I came across this on a recent trip to South Africa and I gotta say, it's pretty sweet. You can find them at http://triggercam.co. Apparently it was created in South Africa and is primarily marketed there though it sports a US patent. A friend of mine introduced me to it and I couldn't be stopped. Very much "a take my money" moment. I used to make a lot of videos but found them to suffer from the lack of the point of view that viewers might actually be interested in, the through the reticle shot. My website even has a blog section called Through the Reticle which was meant to show this exact sort of thing but to date never has because I hadn't found a solution this good to the video quality issue. I never really got anywhere with any through the reticle shots because the phone scope things that exist never seem to fit the phone that I have so I gave up on that. I also hated the fact of my phone's low resolution screen being the thing I'm looking through when trying to hit a long range target on film. I own expensive optics with top end glass. Why handicap my eye with an iffy phone video. That's for the people that watch my videos, not for me while I'm shooting.

It attaches easily enough with an adapter collar and the included tool's allen key bit. Video is recorded via a clever system of lenses and mirrors so you're actually looking through the thing instead of at it. Mounting is easy, slide the appropriate collar over the ocular bell and snug it up. That's all there is to it. Focusing is done via connecting to the app and spinning a little wheel that's accessed through a screw-cap covered port. The other screw cap conceals the SD card and the USB port and while it appears to be the place you'd put a CR2032 battery, it is not. The battery is internal and charges via USB.
Optically, it's quite nice. Coated optics and a good color rendition. The app was a little irritating to get to connect to the camera but I got it after a couple tries and now it just works. It would have been very nice for them to include a manual in the box but I guess they go by the same motto that I do, "A great method to pre-determine if something will work or not is to check and see if it comes with a manual." Things without manuals tend in my experience to just work.

Cost? Yeah, cost is pretty high. Almost $500 US but you're getting a heck of a gizmo. It's not ultra light but doesn't weigh enough to be a problem. It compact enough that I won't be bothered by it being on the gun. The best part for me is, I teach long range shooting now and then and now I have a way to actually see in real-time from the shooter's eye view what my students are doing. That is a fantastic diagnostic aid and I know it'll help me in that endeavor. I can usually tell what a student is buggering up by how they're failing in some exercise but sometimes it's a little tough. With reticle video that I can analyze in real time I can help fix those shooter errors early and surely. For hunting guides I see a huge use case for this not only for selecting which animal but also for seeing how steady your shooter is and tuning your hunt to get them into a range that they can accomplish a good shot in.

I'm stuck in town for a bit so rather than aim a rifle around my neighborhood, I found some video footage on gootube. I'll be taking it to my next match at the end of the month and making a video with that footage. Should be very interesting and we can all watch the match from my eye afterward.
