Best polite brake/adapter.

I'd like some recommendations for a good brake to use in social settings while I shop for my next can. The only qualifier is not Keymo, and hub compatible. All my adapters so far are Keymo, but I'd like something a bit less chonky when I get a suppressor smaller than my Sandman-L, and something that isn't going to make everyone else in class hate me.

13 Y/O Daughter 1st PRS Rifle Build Feedback

I have been shooting PRS/NRL22 matches for about 7 years with my son and would consider myself at least an 8/10 in the rimfire knowledge world as far as what to use and gear. I have owned almost everything as far as actions/chassis/scopes. However, last year we dove into the centerfire world. Weight wasn't an issue nor recoil as he is 19 now and really fit. We both have 20ish pound Vudoos and Impact 6GT's that we use several times a month.

My 13 year old daughter wants to begin shooting centerfire matches with us, and now I am back to rookie mode on what to build her. i have signed her up for an all youth match in October. Here are my thoughts. Feedback is welcome.

Option 1:
ACTION: Impact action in something low recoil such as .223 or 6br/dasher. I am aware these are different bolts and about $500 for a bolt swap. I do reload my GT's and could stick with the GT, but wanted something with as little recoil as possible.
CHASSIS: My son has always loved the XLR Envy Pro's and they were phenomenal in LOP adjustment as he grew with the TR2 buttstock. Could be configured light and short for her.
BARREL: Not sure whether to go with a slimmer profile, or a shorter 1.25"
TRIGGER: She likes my TT two stage pro curved
SCOPE: Probably a Leupold MK4 HD with PR2 (Her brother and I run MK 5's with PR-2 MIL)

Option 2: (More budget friendly)
ACTION: Zermatt Origin action in something low recoil such as .223 or 6br/dasher. Swappable bolt head is not expensive to change. Never handled one.
CHASSIS: MDT Acc Premier Gen 2 or an MPA BA Comp/Hybrid that could be configured light and short for her.
BARREL: Not sure whether to go with a slimmer profile, or a shorter 1.25"
TRIGGER: Still a TT two stage pro curved
SCOPE: Probably a Leupold MK4 HD with PR2 or could go budget with something like an Athlon Midas Tac, or Bushnell MPED, or Arken EP5

Help Me Develop a 308 AR-10 Load

Hey guys, I have a homebuilt AR-10 DPMS platform based rifle; Criterion 18" chrome lined 1x10 twist rifle gas barrel with LR118 chamber, Lantac BCG and bolt, rifle length recoil system, Timney 4 lb. trigger, SWFA SS 3-15 optic. Rifle shoots and cycles well, no issues.

I have been shooting a couple of different loads through it and have been getting an average of about 1.5 - 2.5" MOA results. Sometimes I can get a 5 shot group that is better, like 1.25" MOA, some ammunition shoots worse. My goal is a reliable 1 MOA battle rifle; I think the rifle is capable of this and currently I am the weak link, however, I feel that I may not be shooting optimal ammunition for this rifle. I don't want to try to source 10 different factory loads to find "which one my rifle likes", as I am going to create my own ammunition for this rifle for when I want it to be accurate and the rest of the time shoot NATO ball and not really care about the results.

My current loadings that I have tested:

1. SMK 175gr. with BLC-2 and CCI 200 primers, PMC brass; ~ 2625 fps., shoots the best, usually about 1.5 MOA.

2. Hornady 178gr. AMax with Varget and Win LR primers, Hornady brass; ~ 2600 fps, shoots decent at 1.5 - 2 MOA.

3 Factory PMC Bronze 147gr. .308 off the shelf ammunition; shoots reliably, but is usually ~ 3 MOA.

I currently have access to the following components:

BLC2 and Varget powders
CCI 200 and WLR primers
168 gr. Hornady Match bullets, 175 gr. SMK's, Barnes Match Burner 175 gr., and Hornady 178 gr. AMax.

My main question is with an 18" 1x10 twist barrel should I be focusing on heavier, or lighter bullets? I have been contemplating working up a 168 gr load in a quest for better accuracy but maybe that is a fools errand and I should instead keep my current 175gr. load and work on my fundamentals. Maybe I am already at the law of diminishing returns and should just shoot the #1 load and be happy? I do like the BC of the heavier bullets as I often shoot out to 800 - 1000 yards

What would you do? If you were developing a new load for this setup what would you recommend / what has worked the best for you? It is entirely possible that the rifle and ammunition is currently outperforming my current abilities already and this is an utter waste of time...

Accuracy International Covert 2.0 (Integrally Suppressed). Let's make it happen.

Many moons ago, I had committed to purchasing a brand new AI Covert kit (the integrally suppressed barrel kit) from a gentleman (not on this site). He backed out last second because it was his second to last one and he had learned that no more were being made. It wasn't a huge deal at the time, but now it's a little bit of a bummer.

With the advent of an (unconstitutional; always has been) $0.00 tax stamp reality in a few months, any company capable of producing silencers really ought to be doing so. With 3D Printing tech, it's the closest thing to the literal printing of money as you can get without a visit from the Secret Service.

So, let's get AI to bring back the Covert Barrel kits. . . . but in even more configurations! .308 is fine, but we live in a 6.5CM world (or 6mm if you have dainty shoulders and are recoil sensitive). They could do an AXSR in 300NM and .338LM, too.

Now, I know what the naysayers are going to say: "But [RB21], AI can't even get us our .375CT conversion kits!" And yes, I agree. But maybe they just need a little nudge, "Hey Tom/Scott/et. al, There's a bunch of increased revenue right over here. Will take very little to no R&D. Would make your customers happy. Eh? Eh? How 'bout it????"

.22lr barrels for AR platform

Hi All,

I was hoping to pick everyones brain on suggestions for a dedicated .22 upper build.

I have one that a built a while ago just out of a cheap CMMG kit I got on sale and I love it! so now I want to build something with a little more accuracy. I am not super familiar with higher quality .22lr barrel manufactures or what barrel length to get. But I don’t really want to go crazy not he barrel length. I was thinking in the 12” range

For an idea of my use; I am not competing with this or looking to set any records. I just have an appreciated for good quality parts and builds so I don’t mind spending a little extra. Also not looking for precision shooting at 300yds so I don’t need a 22” match grade custom Anschutz barrel either.

I have a spare brand new Aero upper (ok we’ll actually have 2) so I was going to use that as starting point, and I really like the Bore Buddy BGC, but I am open to suggestions for other BGC,. I have noticed JP has a nice bolt and barrel kit but I don’t know if I really want a 16” barrel, I was also looking at Keystone barrels as well. But I kind of wanted something a little shorter maybe in the 12-14” range as I would like to run a can on this and don’t want it to get crazy long. But once again I am all ears for suggestions. (Also I have 3 SBR’ed lowers so no issues with barrel lengths)

I also noticed Bore Buddy has “match“ barrels on there site for very reasonable price. Any one have any experience with these?

Feedback Avoid Scammers, Keep Your Account Safe

Hi all,

I wanted to send out a reminder about how to keep your account safe from being hacked so that you can keep buying and selling on the site. Here are a few things you can do:
  1. Enable 2 Factor Authentication on your account. You can do that here and it'll add a passcode to your account which will provide extra security https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/account/security
  2. Regularly update your password (even on other sites!) Other sites can get hacked and if you use the same password, your account could get hacked on the Hide too! Also, make sure you're regularly changing your email password as well. If they get access to your email, they can get access to your account.
Overall, make sure you know who you're talking to and you trust them. Do not use PayPal Friends & Family in your purchases, this is an extremely common scammer tactic, and always check someones profile and feedback before doing business with them. Stay safe out there everyone!
