Why Anschutz Resale value so poor? (at least in the US)

I am a Rimfire Guy mostly. I have lots of other stuff. But Long Gong is really taking off and it is just the perfect blend of fun and Challenge for me personally. I have built precision AR's that I shoot at distance as well. But Currently down the 22lr Precision rabbit hole. I was born in 1970 when the Olympics were still cool. I had gun envy back then seeing the Biathlon events. That Anschutz silhouette has still not changed much. I am looking at Model 54's. New from the location here in the USA for ~4k. But used. 1200 for vintage and 2k for a couple years old. I also love BMW's. Their resale is garbage. Sexy Sexy lines on the Anschutz if you ask me. Seems I should buy used? But I never buy used guns unless it is Milsurp. What do you all think about this? Is it part of the Cycle we are in? Should I just get a Winnie 52d instead? My moms maiden name is Mackner though. I Like the German stuff. Thoughts?

Long time shooter, avid hand loader and still learning

Hello all, I shoot just about everything from pistols, rifles and shotgun. Everything I own is modern, and with the exception of a Perazzi I keep as a safe-queen, everything gets shot.

Been reloading some forty plus years and moved into precision hand loading ten or fifteen years ago. (Which means most of my equipment just got more expensive). I enjoy the handloading part so much that I tend to buy new rifles, set them up the way I want them and spend a lot of time and effort on load development; once I think I've done my part, knowing the rifle can still probably shoot better than me, I go and buy a new rifle and start all over again.

In the past two years I’ve gotten hooked on the 6.5 Creedmoor. Funny that it started with a Gen 1 Ruger Precision Rifle, next the Savage 110 Elite Precision, and an Aero Precision Solus Competition and darned if I didn’t just buy a new Gen 2 RPR – All in 6.5CM. Next on the list, if my research pans out is a MasterPiece Arms PMR 6.5 CM.

I’m a veteran, started my career in Mechanical Engineering, returned to school for a Masters in Computer Science and retired in 2020. I belong to two private ranges, only one has a 1,000 yard target. Most of my shooting is on BLM land an hour and half away, but I go there every other Sunday – weather permitting.

I am also a Moderator on another Firearm’s forum. Thanks for having me.

Tuning a 1911?

I have a 1911 that is having an issue where about once every couple of mags, the slide stop engages. My research suggests this is an issue where the cartridges in the mag can hit the slide stop and holds the action open. The remedy seems to be- if you see copper on the slide stop- to file the slide stop enough to prevent the interference. Ok, cool. Here’s a pic of the failure. Note, I did not lock the action open to take the pic. The action locked open on the previous round, and I did not disturb the round in the mag to take the pic. What you see is what I saw. The mags are 8 round stainless Wilson Combat mags. Overall, the gun has about 1000 or so rounds on it, split across 8 mags, so the mags are pretty fresh…

Other than guess and check on filing down the slide stop, anything else I should be looking at? This is a fun gun, so reliability is only a concern in as much as guns that run are more fun that guns that don’t. Thanks.

Model 7 Follower Differences

Hi All,
I had picked a NOS Model 7 action with a 223 bolt face many years ago when Brownell's was selling them around the time of the Remington bankruptcy. It was a 223 bolt face and intended from the factory for a 300 BLK.

Anyways, I managed to stumble on some other inexpensive NOS parts, most namely a surplus Remington Defense barrel and HS Precision stock, and ended up screwing together a complete rifle. The bottom metal is PTG steel BDL.

The problem I have is that I can't seem to find the appropriate follower to feed 300 BLK. I tried a 3-D printed unit intended for 223, but this could only hold 1 in the magazine with the rest of the rounds dumping out when I tried to feed from the mag. It did feed the first round from the mag without issue.

I have no idea where to go about finding one of these, or what alternate follower to use that would also work. The only other option I could think of would be to get the PTG bottom metal that takes AR-15 mags, but this is on backorder and who knows if this would actually ever be available.

I appreciate the collective wisdom of the Hide mind. I would also consider modifying an existing follower if that is an option.

Gunsmithing Stuck 8.6 Blk case AR10

Any advice on removing 8.6 Blk brass from a Seekins SP10 and Mos-Tek barrel?

I was shooting suppressed 300 gr and the shot sounded louder than the others. Doubtful a double charge of A1680 but anything is possible I suppose.

The bolt is about 1/8” or so open (see pic) but actually ripped off one latch of an ambidextrous Geiselle Super Charging Handle the bolt is so stuck. The latch is open though on the CH so that’s not preventing it from opening.
I used spray lube and a solid brass rod with a lot of force and still not budging.
Considered removing the barrel but not sure how that would be affected by the bolt extractor holding the stuck brass.
Thanks.

So actual threat? Or USSS trying to act like they saved the world?

Or door number 3…. A straight up scam that is going viral on the Interwebz?

IMG_1595.jpeg

CNN is reporting as legit.

This can be used for swatting or scam calls or simply a giant DOS attack.

Bet this cost real money… possible precursor to something?

Thank goodness it was not on a sloped roof, or they never would have been able to take it down!

On a serious note, the “unsung” side of the USSS that does counterfeit and financial crime stuff are the real workhorses of the service. Executive protection is all the glory slots. But this stuff is what they “do.”

Now, who ran it… and why?

SOLD Craddock Precision RTR 13.9" 223 Wylde / DD RIS III Upper

This upper has around 250-300 rounds on it. The Craddock RTR barrel is extremely accurate. I would get consistent sub moa 5 shot groups. It loves the heavier 77gr and 75gr bullets but still shoots the lighter 69gr ones really good as well. I did work up an handload for it with some 77gr loads that would shoot 1/2" groups. Huxwrx muzzle device not included.
