Noveske Grendel + Underwood 110 GR = G.O.A.T.

Hit the range today to dial in a couple things for an upcoming pig trip.

Brought "the one" just to verify zero of my 20" Grendel, a Noveske build, all their parts, barrel, etc other than a Smoke Composite stock and grip. Topped with a Leupold VX-6 HD 3-18X, 50mm, and a Thunderbeast Ultra 7.

I usually shoot Hornady 123 SST, which routinely shoots sub MOA out of that gun. Today I grabbed some Underwood 110 gr as its just sitting on a shelf. They stopped making it in Grendel so I went into a conservation mindset, but realized - might as well burn through it over the next couple seasons.

1) POA/POI vs the SST - nearly identical at 100 yards.

2) I realized I'd grabbed a 4 rd mag - I usually shoot 5 - but at $3/rd, I'm doing a $12 experiment, let's see how much adjustment we need... results were enough to make me take a break and reflect on how much I wanted to do that again.

To be fair, my next group was at least... .5 - .6 MOA as I was chasing this dragon, but I think it is safe to say this was a personal best. I know it isn't a 10 round phenom, but I'll take it... with a little luck this is an unbeatable combo in the small frame.

Naturally, Noveske stopped making the Grendel barrels and Underwood no longer makes the ammo - but, as the saying goes - I got mine 🕺

Varget volume?

Using LC Match brass in a .308 and 42.5gr Varget fills the brass past the shoulder to the base of the neck so much so that the bullet (175 SMK) will not go in unless I compress the powder to obtain the correct OAL.

I wanted to start at 42 and go up to 44 but the way it's looking now, there's no way to fit 44 gr in the cases.

THIS SEEMS REALLY WRONG! What's going on here? I don't want to compress powder by jamming the bullet into the case right?

Super trickler help

So I am trying to set up my super trickler and I connected the power supply cable from the super trickler to the rear of it. The scale cable is connected from the super trickles to the and fx120i scale and it is powered up together. The scale is not syncing with the super trickler.
If I go into scales calibration the hour glass just spins and I can not begin calibration.
I can however calibrate the scale using its own way of calibrating itself. Both units are new out of the box first hook up.
The super trickler manual says something about taking metal panel off back of scale and plugging in super trickler cable but I have not cable for that to connect to. Was that a gen 1 thing?
Any help
Is appreciated.

Bad Fatigue Crack in Barrel

This is a Savage Ultralite with a Proof Research barrel chambered in 7mm PRC. It's two years old, but has northwards of 800 rounds through it. I thought it was 600, but went through my notes and brass and stopped counting after 800. Because it's fun and I have my own range. I got some new Peterson brass, and dropped down a couple grains of H4831sc to fireform them. I got a stuck bolt at 1.5gr below my accuracy round which I had previously fired through 2x fired Peterson brass. I didn't think much of it, as velocity was lower and the primary extraction sucks on the new 110 actions and has given me fits with even light loads.

In preparing to run a new lot of powder with a new lot of Peterson brass and copper solids, I cleaned the snot out of the barrel. When I scoped it, I saw this longitudinal crack which is about 1.25 to 1.5" long on the surface, and appears to have signs of continued travel.

I did not see it a few days ago when I has cleaned and scoped it. I think the barrel is toast. There's not much meat on a CF barrel. The bummer is that I have 35 days to prepare for a CO elk hunt, had sold all of my large caliber mags, and have no other guns that are ready for an elk hunt. Even my 1903A3 needs a new barrel, but that took me 45 years to shoot out. I hope Josh at PVA can whip me an Osprey barrel up fast. @bohem

Firearms Cosaint single stack 1911 compact

For sale:

Cosaint single stack 9mm 1911. 3.5” bull barrel with full size polymer grip. Matte gray finish slide and frame. CH optic cut (from the factory) with factory rear sight plate and SRO plate. 4 Wilson combat 10 round mags, streamlight TLR7sub-x and 2 holsters included.

For those who aren’t aware, Cosaint has a unique safety that engages by pushing the hammer forward. This allows the hammer to be carried in the forward position. It is returned to the cocked position by depressing the safety. I tried to show this in the photos.

$1250 shipped from my FFL to yours.
