I just picked up my AI AXSR today in 300 Norma Magnum and as was fitting various components I noticed the muzzle brake ports were not horizontally aligned. I would think it would leave the factory correctly setup, but this seems odd to me. While an easy fix I was wondering if Accuracy International mounted the brake this way intentionally.

I have been doing more testing and toying with 308.

I have been using Alpha small rifle primer brass and CCI 450 small rifle magnum primers.

Rifleis a Zermatt Origin with 20" PVA M24 profile 1:10 twist.

MDT ACC Chassis.

My goal was 3000ft lbs of energy at the muzzle. This was due to a conversation I had with a buddy who just came back from a Safari. The company had a 3000ft lbs, at the muzzle, requirement for any rifle used for plains game. He took a 300wsm.

Powders were Varget and Power Pro 2000mr.

These loads are above book max but showed no pressure signs. I annealed every other firing. I worked the book pressure loads up using annealed starline srp brass.

I forgot to get pictures of the varget loads.

#1- Averaged 2605fps and .30" 5 shot group (No pressure Signs)

#2- Averaged 2614fps and .65" 5 shot group (No Pressure Signs)

#3- Averaged 2627fps and .88" 5 shot group (Very faint ejector mark)

#4- Averaged 2635fps and .55" 5 shot group (Again faint ejector mark, easy bolt lift)

#5- Averaged 2644fps and .23" 5 shot group (Ejector mark and at the very top of the bolt lift it was mildly sticky at the very top)

Power Pro 2000mr was a little lacking in the velocity dept.

My max load of 46.6 grains topped out at 2635 but should have been faster. My thought is that I am not getting complete powder burn. I found some partially burnt kernals in the barrel

The 46 grain load was absurdly accurate and had an average velocity of 2615.

My 1moa sticker fell off the hole it was covering so I just shot at the hole.

Unfortunately right now I have other priorities to tend to so my prs rimfire rifle is on the block. Action was bought in 2021 and has roughly 30k rounds on it but runs flawlessly. Barrel is a 23 inch Krieger 1-16 with a custom contour close to a MTU threaded with a EC Tuner v1 I’ve had for over 2 years, it loves center x 28xxx. Trigger is a Triggertech primary at about 2 lbs. Chassis is a MDT ACC Elite with 3 bridges, black jellies and 1 internal chassis weight. Most of all chassis bolt heads were sprayed with matte black rustoleum. Comes with a bunch of spare parts and 2 mags (pictured)

Still playing with powder charges.
Have done 42.4 (Hornady book max, which seems conservative), 44.4, 44.8. I shoot a monthly local match that is all positional out to 700y. Rarely does the wind get above 6-7 mph if that.
My question is what we're 155 weight range of bullets designed for? My thinking is slightly less drop to 700, more velocity, slightly less recoil.
The 178s I use for casual shooting out past 1k. Still finding the limits and how they handle going trans.

Am I dumb for messing with the 155s in a PRS setting with a max range of 700 or is there merit to using the 155s? Opinions and experience would be appreciated especially those with 20" barrels.

Good afternoon gentlemen. I’m buying a Seekins DMR 22” in 6 ARC. It’s going to be my do everything rifle for plinking, hunting, and heavy range use on steel and paper. I have a 500 yard rifle range 5 minutes from my house so usually shooting 500 and under but if I can find a range I’ll definitely shoot it out to 1000.

Pretty sure I am going with a Vortex Venom 5-25x56 FFP with the mils reticle. I need help with the mounts. I’m happy to stick with Seekins mounts but it doesn’t have to be theirs. Sub $300ish would be nice if possible but not going to cheap out if it makes sense to spend another hundred or two. All of my experience is with typical 3-9x40 hunting scopes so I don’t know if I should go with a 0 or 20 MOA mount or one piece vs 2 rings. I’d like a red dot for close plinking and getting on target at range but don’t know if I should put it on a diving board or canted mount.

It won’t be the most ergonomic rifle with a 5-25, the weight, and the 22” barrel but that’s fine. I don’t want to compromise on any bench shooting accuracy especially being a gas gun. I can always go down to a 18 or 16” barrel later if I feel the need. Or buy a 5.56.

Not worried about the hunting side as I shot a bunch of deer and hogs behind the ear with a .243 Win and 85gr Nosler Partitions when I was young.

Planning on starting with 5 or 10 boxes of Hornady black box 105 gr JHP or ELDM 108 gr match and then reloading once I save up the brass.

Been following the guidance provided on these forums for a few years now. Appreciate all the information. My first and only rifle so far is a Tikka Tac A1 in 308.

As you probably all know, shooting in western Europe is a bit different than in the US. You can't get gear, parts, and ammo at every corner in the street and everything's hugely regulated so it feels a bit limited at times but I'm trying to get by. Got basically unlimited access to an indoor 100m range and outdoor 400m range.
