Accessories Surefire M951 and 6P

Up for grabs are two of my Surefire lights. These would be ideal for the GWOT clone crowd.

Up first is a Surefire M951 Fat Body with the SW01 Slim tail cap. It works and is in used/issued condition. Surefire 6P from the same era in used/issued condition as well. Includes pic mount. I prefer to sell them together to one buyer. $380 shipped for the pair. PayPal friends and family or USPS money order.

Hey everyone. First off, it appears the crown style has no effect on a rifle’s accuracy. But I thought it would be fun to see what kind of crown you guys like (and why).

My Kidd has a counterbored crown. Not sure if centerfires have this style?

Our own @Frank Green has an enlightening list over on accurate shooter:

He does mention one advantage to the 11° is you can see the gas venting lines, which is a shortcut way of seeing if your crown is messed up. This trick surely(?) doesn’t work when using a suppressor. (Edit: wrong!)

He also approves of breaking the crown’s edge at 60° vs. leaving it sharp.

Recessed crowns of any type can help avoid crown damage.

Anyway, have fun!

Gents,

I need the clarity that can only come from writing a forum post after a frustrating day at the range.

My Howa 1500 in a KRG Bravo jumps around, and won’t balance on a schmedium. I have all the KRG things, but its just too light up front. I am having a really hard time spotting my shots.

The next logical step is to rebarrel and buy a more effective brake. A 28” bull will be $575 if I want it inside of 2 weeks. But why would I put a $575 barrel on a $394 barreled action? My marriage with the howa is already on the fritz, and I don’t think getting her a BBL will fix that.

That’s a double entendre in case you missed it.

So, do I abandon this platform and go to something else? What else could even be delivered before the beginning of the season for less than, say, $2500 including mags, dies, and brass?

The used Solus market seems reasonable. Maybe an 2-season-old solus competition + a rebarrel with a COTS prefit in 6 GT.

I’m leaning towards dumping the howa. I could use some input from people who have been in my shoes, or avoided my shoes.

Ares ETR UHD 3-18x50 or comparable scopes?

I'm in the market for a new scope in the $1000 range. Looking at one of these scopes it seems to have about all the things I like except would prefer 30mm tube. Some things I want/need.

-FFP
-Zero stop
-MIL Christmas tree style reticle floating dot
-10yds Minimum focus
-nothing larger than 50mm objective
-plenty of travel 25+ MILs
-Illumination not needed but a bonus
-Dont need anything over 20x magnification
-Do prefer 30mm tubes but willing to go to a 34mm for the right scope

Emailed Athlon and they said the Ares ETR 3-18s won't be in until March-late April. I don't need the scope right now but would like it sooner than later.

Would appreciate any other options to look into.

Just wanting to upgrade from my Midas Tac 4-16x44 is the reason for the scope. It'll be going on my Tikka T1X instead of the Argos BTR Gen2 on it now.

First Remington 700 build..

I might be answering my own question but here we go..

I mostly shoot rimfire for the fun of it and NRL/PRS match when I can. I’ve Been wanting to build a centerfire rifle for awhile now and ran across a barely used Remington 700 .308 25?inch barrel in a Boyd stock and a Nikon hunting scope for 500$ “RR” in the serial from what I’ve gathered it’s a pre 2020 700..

I have a range that goes to 1100yards and would like to eventually to shoot there.
That being said am I wasting time having the action blueprinted and rebarreled along with chassis etc? Or just buy a custom action and build a 6GT and keep the .308 put a middle of road scope and triggertech for playin around with?

Optics Vortex Fury HD 5000

Used Vortex Fury HD 5000 (NON-AB model).

I picked these up here a few months ago, and they've been great to use on the local range, but they just aren't getting used like I thought, so instead of them just sitting, Id like to move them along.

What you see is what you get, Binos, Tripod adaptor stud, tripod adaptor (Arca) This particular brand is from Amazon, nothing fancy and probably Chinese, but I personally like it better than Vortex's adaptor, so much so that I sold my Vortex one and picked up another one of these for my Razor HDs.

Since I do not have the Vortex case, They will ship in the Eberlestock pouch, which comes with the harness and their dangler pouch too (not pictured). Yes, it has my initials on it but consider it a freebee. ;)

They work as they should and have no damage or blemishes. A bit dirty? but glass is clear and free of blemishes. Don't mind my crappy picture just showing that they work. And you have that Vortex Warranty fo - life.

$650 shipped CONUS. Paypal FF or cover fee, or Venmo.
