I'm thinking I want a new toy, something to play with during non-winter months. Purchase budget is $25k. Whatever the toy is, it should be an "outdoor" toy. I have/had motorcycles and it was like a default for "I don't want to be inside, what can I do outside?" However, I now need to replace motorcycles with something else.

For several years I've been saying "boat", as in a deep-V fishing boat, 17' to 20'. I used to kayak fish rather aggressively, probably 30 hours a week during the pandemic, so I do enjoy being on the water, and of course, fishing. Due to life happening, I'm not really able to kayak fish any longer, and subsequently haven't been fishing (shore fishing is lame). I'm looking at used Lund, Alumacraft, Crestliner and have several good options.

I've always liked cars, and have had a couple "fun" cars along the way; Porsche 944, MkV GTi with some light mods. But now only drive a soccer-mom grocery hauler. A couple of my friends are into cars, one is buying an M3 Competition and another has been poking me for years to buy a fun car. I found a 1993 Porsche 968 Club Sport for sale which would be cool, or I've thought about a BMW Z M-roadster and supercharging it. Or something along those lines, there's worlds of options.

I trust the Bear Pit for positive life advice and out of the box thinking, so whatcha got bear pit? Car, boat, or something I haven't thought of?

Both barrels will shoot sub-.5 MOA with factory match ammo, if you put in the work, so will the rifle. Currently I am running factory Hornady 140 ELDM match in the 6.5 and some 175 SMK handholds in the 308.

Excellent condition Vortex Venom 5-25 with front focal EBR-7C mil reticle, mil turrets. Comes as pictured with factory box, papers, and bikini cover. Glass and mechanics are perfect, a couple very light/small cosmetic marks on the tube and the edges of the flathead slot on the turret cap (see pics).

I know they are not out yet, but I'm looking forward to getting the details on it. Maybe the 455 has a little competition. You may not have a barrel that is super easy to replace, but MAYBE the barrels on these will be as good as Tikka's centerfire rifles and negate the need to replace it. None the less I'm looking forward to it!

May 20, 2025 - Recap of the URSA 3000 Yard Challenge (2025) (by RD, Lynn Dragoman; build info and notes from Oscar)

Shooters, we finally got the opportunity to shoot the annual 3K match and started shooting at 2600 yds. The wind started out good but quickly went to 20+ mph.

I managed to draw the first starting position and with relatively light conditions managed to get 5 hits on our 37" circular gong for the win.

Runner up went to Doug Pulver who shot last in the shooting order and, naturally, he had the most wind to overcome. He was also shooting a borrowed gun (mine) after the barrel on his 33XC went south at our last match.

With only one shooter getting the required min of 4 in 10, the match ended.

A big Thank You to all the qualifiers.

If you were building a 6arc bolt gun, what barrel length and twist rate would you go for on a dedicated coyote rifle? Majority of my shots are 80 to 150, i don’t think I’ll ever be able to shoot past 300 in my area.

Is there any good factory ammunition? I llike to keep the nicer pelts so big holes aren’t desired.
