PRS Talk Binos

I wanted to post this in here versus the Optus forum. What is a good set of binos or spotting scope for PRS more specifically Rimfire PRS right now. I haven’t gotten into CF not sure that I will.

I’m struggling finding something that’s a balance of decent glass with a reticle. Most of the people I shoot with run bushnell match pros or Atholon Midas. Is that as good as it gets until you jump up to really high end? I would like to keep it around $1000. I don’t have a problem spending more but I guess because I only shoot rimfire I’m 400 and in and I’m struggling without a reticle.

no go gauges

2 month old AK replaced under warranty passed go no go gauges right out of the box ..........2 months later some miss fires [ammo checked ] and doubling [90 rounds out]. Now the carrier will not close on a go about a quarter inch from trunnion same as no go gauge ,chamber brush cleaned and looks good along with barrel rivets . It is on its way back to riley again for another new one but any thoughts. Ammo ,gauges etc work fine in my zap m 70 . Seems i am cursed with the riley BUT blessed too ......its more than 2 years out of warranty and they have not charged me......yet

Anschutz 1727F AI AT-X

I finally broke down and picked up one of these. So far, it's shooting well and I'm not regretting it...I'm not retiring any of my other rimfires, but I am happy with the way it's performing.

I do need to add a few items to the chassis to help when shooting comps.

For anyone who has one, are you using a thumb shelf? If so, which one?

Also, I've debated picking up the AI Bridge, but I would love some firsthand experience from anyone using one.

The last item I am trying to decide on is a rear bag rider. Is there a preferred model, or should one be used that is made for any other AI?

Thanks in advance!

Review Walther PDP Pro 5" Polymer

I post about pistols from time to time and every once in a while do a review. My background is that I have been shooting USPSA since the early 2000s and hit G in 2006. Since then, one of the things that I do for a living is I am one of the owners of a retail firearms store with an attached shooting range. We sell and rent guns to the public. To me pistols are very subjective in that what feels good to me, may not feel good to someone else.

At some point in the last year, I did a kind of review on pistols and I don't really make an argument about any of the subjective stuff. I do however tend to comment on reliability. I think at this point, I am a pretty good source on it because 1) I have extensively shot most full frame production pistols in the US, more than a little bit. 2) We have a rental fleet with more than 500 firearms in it and we keep data on when they go out of service to include things like how often we have to clean them, how often and what kind of repairs we have to make and how often we have real failures.

About a year ago, I got to shoot a Walther PDP Pro with the Parker Mountain Machine comp and I really enjoyed it. So I bought two Walthers so that I could cannibalize them and made one for myself. This particular pistol now officially has over 50K rounds fired through it and I wanted to detail the problems that I had with it. When I first put the pistol together, I went to the range and in the first magazine I had two failures to feed shooting 115 grain Winchester white box range ammo. I immediately got aggravated and was looking at the pistol, the things I installed and saw the instructions for the comp. It clearly stated that the pistol functions with 124 grain or heavier ammunition and that 115 grain was not recommended. So I have now shot another 49,980 some odd rounds through it without a single failure. I have not had to replace a single part, there was not a single break or failure. Over the 50,000 rounds fired, I cleaned the pistol after the first 500 round range session because it was kind of covered with grease in some spots that smelled bad when it heated up. Since that cleaning, I have not cleaned the pistol once. (I have cleaned the end of the surefire multiple times and the optics multiple times).

I went back and checked our rental fleet where we have several PDPs including 5 and 4 inch frame pistols in both the normal and Pro versions. They do get cleaned every 5k rounds (got to keep the customers happy) but none of them have had a failure of any kind just like my personal pistols. I never thought that I would write this but Walther has moved into my personal S Tier of pistols in terms of reliability to join most Glocks and almost all of the hammer fired H&K pistols.

Ukraine war Bullshit.

This has gone far enough. And the he bullshitters are now in high gear.

A link to the article is first:

https://www.foxnews.com/world/ukrai...s-earthquake-sized-blast-picked-up-from-space

Never mind the article, the comments after the article are the important part. Everyone in the comments seems to think that Russia started the war.

Russia did not start this war. If you don't know that you are severely misinformed. Who started this war? WE DID.

And I'm not going to spoon feed you the details. Do your own freaking research. That's all have to say about that.

SOLD WTS - Lapua Center X. 1 lot left

Message me directly if interested. I will not initiate a message with you asking for payment. Do not let the scammers win.

These two lots were from two rifles that I had tested at the Lapua test center. Both rifles have found new homes, so selling the ammo.

At present, not willing to split the entire lots up. Look at pictures for lot numbers. If you want all of it, I would discuss a discount for taking the full 10 bricks.

6 bricks $ SOLD shipped (tested in my Anschutz, hence the A in market)

4 bricks - $SOLD shipped (tested in my Rimx, hence the R)

Would do face to face within an hour of Nashville. I also will be shooting the X Match at Boaz, KY, on 9/13.

SOLD WTS - 22 LR proof barrel for RimX

this barrel came on a rifle that I traded for a few years back. It shoots great, but given the length, I went for a longer option to add more weight to the front of that rifle.

It is used, but shoots great. I don’t know what the contour is as I have looked at Proof’s website and am not seeing one that matches this length. It is threaded 1/2-28. I can measure and take pictures of the muzzle if needed. I believe it is around 0.9” at the muzzle.

$250 shipped

SOLD XLR Envy Pro/ C6/ REM 700 SA $750

This chassis will come with thumb rest, NV bridge,, bag rider, and long arca extension. Will also come with the XLR vertical grip as seen in the attached pic. Was previously bedded for an unknown REM 700 SA, but bedding has been removed and fits my Vudoo and my Impact 737 just fine. It has the adjustable mag catch. Great chassis, just thinning the herd a little.

$750 shipped PayPal F&F, Venmo, or Zelle.

The bolt of the AR-10\308 rifle is broken.

I won't say who made the rifle, but the price of the rifle is more than 2000 euros and the quality of the rifles is well known. I bought a brand new rifle and fired about 1,200 rounds from it, always fired with a silencer, an adjustable gas unit, no overgas. The cartridges are commercial, there were no signs of overpressure. I shoot a lot with different AR-15 223 rem and after several thousand shots I have never encountered problems with the bolt of rifles. There is a breakdown on the new AR-10 308, which is not the cheapest, after 1200 shots. The question is: do ar-10 rifles often have bolt failures? Or in my case, just a defective part?
