SOLD WTS: Steiner M5xi 5-25x56 MSR $1600 shipped

Steiner M5 military 5-25 with a great reticie MSR. MIL open turrets CCW = Counterclockwise for +UP elevation dial. 34mm tube. Great shape overall, superficial light marks on turret sharp edges here and there. Perfect glass, bell, bottom of bell, Tiny scratch near ring area shown. Only disclosure, thin O-ring for battery cap is torn. The cap is on tight so you don't spin it off for the Illumination control. I created a ticket with Steiner online for replacements. My local hardware store did not have a thin enough o-ring and I looked through a bunch. $1600 shipped. Retail is pretty crazy on these right now

Akbar, how many times have I told you No Hookah near the oxidizer????

And the Iranians blew themselves up again…

Solid rocket fuel storage/manufacture is best guess.

What a shame!

Should have painted the roof blue….

Which Heavy Duty Truck?

I see there are other misc truck threads running, so hopefully this isn't too repetitive.

I have always owned a Toyota truck or SUV so I have no allegiance to any of the major truck brands. I am looking for the best diesel truck for general use (driving to work, range, etc.) AND for hauling a 25-30ft camper trailer around the state and region. 4 door and front and rear bench seats are a must. It will be a squeeze but there will be times I need seats for 6. If and when I purchase it will be used. The major points I am looking for is reliability, price, and fuel economy. I have pulled a multitude of fully loaded work trailers with gas and diesel trucks and I have no interest in going with a gas truck. Especially in the mountains of Colorado I don't want to be struggling with a gas engine pulling a loaded camper over Vail Pass or wherever. I know certain generations of trucks have pros and cons, and brands as well, so if you have any words of wisdom please educate me! I would prefer a relatively new model with <50k miles.

M40A1 repo mounts and rings

Along with the mounts from ICE.....

Here is another option for everyone. The first batch will be ready in 2 weeks.

I showed the mount to Marty at Badger and to George at GA Precision as well. They both liked it and said it looked great. George put a order in for 25pcs direct to the maker this week.

From the two I looked at... I'll say ring gap is .015". I grabbed a older 1" scope I have laying around and thru it in the rings and tightened the rings down to measure the ring gap. When I took the scope out of the rings nothing got crushed and only faint ring marks but no gouges etc... The only other scope I have that's a 1" anymore for the tube diameter is my Unertl and for me shooting my M40A1 I need the eye relief that the Badger scope base gives me and I'm using the M40A3 rings on it.

I took one of the mounts and test fit it to two receivers. I needed to take about .003" off each side of the rear lug and .030" off the backside of the rear lug. After doing it that it dropped on to a factory clip slotted 40x receiver. I needed to take a file and bevel the back corners of the rear lug to get it to go onto my GAP built M40A1 rifle and it fit pretty snug. A little snugger than the 40x.

Price on these will be $540 plus $11 shipping to the lower 48 states.

After this initial offering I will turn it all over to the manufacturer. Retail right now it's at $600.

No drop in mounts are available on these ones. No left handed mounts are available either from this maker.

Here are some pic's.

Later, Frank

Rifle lose 1-2lb without major changes?

Have a ~16.7-16.8lb 6.5x47 rifle that I built purely to shoot for fun right now. This is without a bipod. It's probably my favorite rifle to shoot 100-1k yards right now so I don't want to mess with it too much but maybe I'm missing something here.
However, if I were to shoot at an NRL event or two for fun later this year or next, it would be nice if I could come in under the 16lb limit with this particular rifle. If it's not viable with my wants right now though, it's fine - weight limit or no, I was going to shoot skills division anyways. If I REALLY had to go compete today, I would just bring a different rifle.

Obvious answer but don't want to:
6.5x47 26" M24 contour barrel - it barely meets power factor as is when ~55-60F at close to sea level right now (140gr at about 2720-25 right now) so I can't just chop the barrel down. Don't want to spend money on a new lighter contour shorter barrel in a faster cartridge I like less for skills division.

Viable but not enough:
Remove sunshade + wrap on optic - saves 3oz
Full length Arca - MCS rail + arca weights could be swapped for a shorter rail with no weights - save 3.6oz without weights and maybe 1-2oz on a slightly shorter rail or just chopping it down a bit? (Don't want to cut rail too much due to mounting points on stock + rail is already skeletonized anyways to allow for weights to be inserted).
ATS brake - Yes, I could remove this or put on a lighter brake, but I like the way it shoots with the brake right now - saves ~6-8oz removed, 1-2oz swapped

Things that are probably less viable or won't make enough of a difference, but listed anyways in case I'm wrong:
- Manners MCS PRS stock - weight spacer on the butt end of the stock has already been removed - it's just the aluminum rings as spacers, the rubber pad, and the mounting plate for the rubber pad now.
- Leica PRS scope with Hawkins 2pc rings - I suppose I could remove the diving board from the scope rings and save 1oz there? I don't want to switch to a different optic.
- Hawkins M5 DBM, ARC CDG action, BA trigger, dope card, probably 1-2 more very small <1oz parts I'm forgetting. - Doubt there is much weight to be saved here.
