Optics WTS Nightforce ATACR 4-16x50 Mil XT

I would like to sell

Nightforce ATACR 4-16x50 Mil XT
Geisele mount - SOLD
Halo bubble level - SOLD
Trijicon RMR - SOLD

I would like to sell as a package $2,500

NF ATACR $2,200 shipped and insured

This was on a seekins sp10 that I don’t shoot much since I have been focusing on bolt guns. I have a buddy that has been housing me to sell him the seekins so I’m left with an extra optic.

Thanks
Landon

Paper Range Log

Hello all,

I'm trying to work out a range log to help me keep track of results at the range. Currently it is in letter format, but I might try to condense it into a smaller page size. I'm sure I'm going a bit overboard on this but looking back over my notebook, I can see that I am forgetting to mark down key points. If anyone has a better idea or can offer ideas for improvements, it is greatly appreciated.

Point of diminishing returns for a 2-12 ish scope

Greetings all. Happy dance, I think I have my sons AR-10's figured out - they are kicking out brass at 3 o'clock and shooting straight.

With that said, on the optics front we have a 3 bears issue - one is wearing a 1-6 Razor, the other a 4-16 ATACR, and they seem to agree too little, too much respectively.

I believe "just right" is the Trijicon AccuPoint® 2.5-12.5x42 Riflescope

Maybe I'm a bad father, but I'm an MOA guy and so we're sticking with MOA for the purposes of this. I'm too dumb to divide by 10.

So with that said - am I missing anything that would be a better value for the ~ $1000 range for a 2-12 (ish) scope?

This is for a 16" 308, so as a practical matter we're a 600-800 yard gun due to home range and ballistic reality limitations.

Requirements - illumination, holdovers built into reticle, parallax adjustment, $1000 ish ceiling, real warranty, hold up to AR-10, and I feel like the Trijicon is already on the porky and long side at about 14" and 22.4 oz.

Am I missing any better options?

Rifle Scopes New hunting scope

Hey yall, looking for other input on a new optic going on a woods deer rifle. This will be going on a straight wall cartridge so max range out to 250y. I'm looking at lower magnification ranges 2-10 or 3-9 SFP. I've looked at many different options but seems like the "dedicated" hunting scopes are mostly 1in tubes. It's not mandatory but ideally I'd like to have a 30mm tube for better lighting. Statistically, most of my shots will be at first/last light. Illumination is not mandatory but would be nice, I feel that reticle selection is more important.

I've kind of narrowed it down to:
Trijicon Huron 2.5-10x40
Leupold VX Freedom 3-9x40
Leupold VX5-HD 2-10x42

What else should I look at?

6mm ARC (Bolt Action)

Wanted to make this thread for a sticky post for the load data, for those who are shooting a bolt-action 6mm ARC. @Lowlight

*** In case someone else reads this in the future, DO NOT use bolt-gun load data in a gas gun. Bolt guns can handle a lot more pressure. ***

Loaded up my first round of load development for my 16" Christensen Arms MPR. I'm running 1x fired and FL sized Hornady brass, CFE-223, CCI 400's, and Nosler 115 RDF's seated 0.007" off the lands, which works out perfectly at 1.700" in my rifle.

I'm using Hornady Match Grade (bushing) dies & shell holder, with a Short Action Customs .266" bushing, giving me around 0.0025-0.003" of neck tension.

I'm running all the way up to 29.0gr in 0.5 grain increments (first round of data is pressure baseline and finding a rough node pattern). I'll report back my findings when I get out to the range this weekend.

This is an open thread, anyone can post up their guns, load data, groups, videos, rifle experiences, or questions.

Night Vision Athlon Thermal Update

Athlon Thermal Update

We want to give you an update....There is a new firmware update for the 25P-250 and 35p-400, this update is to extend and maximize the battery life of the internal battery.

Here is the LINK for the thermal firmware update

Please note that the OTA update through android phone still require the user to connect to the thermal wifi first, go to about section, and then switch a house/work wifi to check for updates (do not close the APP during wifi switching), and then click update to download the firmware to the phone, and then switch back to thermal wifi to transfer the firmware to thermal, and last power off and on the thermal.

OTA update through iphone does not require the wifi switching as long as the phone has data plan that allows the user to download via cellular connection, meaning the user can stay on the thermal wifi throughout the entire process.

Using your PC is the recommended way to update, please note your PC must have a USB/C port to perform the update!

Rifle Scopes Zero stop shim sets for SWFA Super Sniper scopes

There used to be a thread on these on both the old site and the old-old site. I couldn't find it here, so I'm starting a new one. If this violates some policy mods, please kill it.

I make zero stops for a number of SWFA scopes. Details are below.

MilRad Turrets:
Fixed power non-HD models – the entire line. $27/set
3-15 X 42 $27/set
5-20 $27/set Note that SWFA recently declared the use of the shims on the 5-20 as approved. No more warranty issues.

MOA Turrets:
Currently Unavailable

There is an installation video here:

Note that the video is for the original fixed power scopes, but the basic procedure is similar for all the different scopes. The actual number of shims and markings will vary from model to model.

Hey guys,

Looking to get some feedback from the group running RMR/SRO/Aimpoint/etc on top of 20+ zoom scopes for target acquisition out to 900 yards. Is a more definitive small dot like a 1 moa RMR the way to go? Should an easier to pick up 6.5 MOA RMR be better? something in the middle?

Pictures with feedback is always appreciated. I would be running a Vortex Razor G2 4.5-27 and a Vortex impact 4000. Using a baldknobber diving board mount for the RMR/SRO for reference so i will be using an RMR. see below link and picture.

POF Rogue Rebarreling

I bought a 308 POF rogue, it shot like shit. Tried 15 different bullets and reloaded my own. Best I’m getting is 2 MOA.

I called them, tried to get a barrel extension so I could buy a match barrel. They wouldn’t sell so I bought a barrel from them, spent the 6 weeks and what ended up being almost 500 dollars to get it rebarreled. Wow that was a waste of money. Gun shoots marginally better

Good news is I got my original barrel back and that has their custom extension.

Wondering if I can send my original barrel out to a smith and have him put that extension on a new barrel or if they are one time use item similar to head studs.

Looking to get a sub moa barrel that’s fluted.

Any recommendations for who to send it to if it’s usable?

Feedback Watch out for SURREYDIESEL

They messaged me with something for sale and used the "let me know if you're open to proceeding further" line. They have 0 posts since 2014 and their only feedback is from a recent scammer The Sheep King. And yes I have reported them.

Also, just reverse image searched and the pics are from a Feb 2024 sale ad on here.

SOLD Impact NBK/Bartlein 6.5 PRC Barreled Action

Impact is in great shape, barrel has a few scratches on the finish but nothing major. 22” Bartlein #3b. Barrel has about 900 rounds through it. Will add the Triggertech Diamond for $250 more.

Barreled action $1500 shipped
With trigger $1750
