Gunsmithing 30 Sherman chamber quandary

So I’m chambering a 30 Sherman to you with. Chamber is perfect per the supplied gauge, which is lasered “Manson-30 Sherman Magnum”. Bolt falls closed on it, can be closed with moderate effort with a .0015” piece of scotch tape on it. After torquing, should have about .0005 clearance on the Go gauge.

Thing is, it falls closed on a piece of either loaded factory 300 PRC ammo or Hornady PRC brass. It occurred to me that possibly I was supposed to chamber short on this gauge, but I have a SAAMI 300 PRC gauge and it is definitely longer than the one for the 30 Sherman. What would y’all advise to do? I can take material off the shoulder and tenon to problem, just want to do the right thing.

bighorn origin fire pin issue ?

Just completed a 308 build with a zermatt big horn origin action, proof 20" carbon barrel and timney elite hunter trigger. After completing the build, i popped in a mag with 308 snap caps and about every 5/6 cycles of the bolt the firing pin goes off/decocks itself when closing the bolt. I took out the mag and cycled the bolt again and still experienced the same thing happening. My question is , has anyone had this happen before, is there something in my build I missed that might be making this happen or is there a fault with the bolt/firing pin/action? Any help would be appreciated. I'll see if i can upload a short video tomorrow. Thanks in advance for any help

Firearms APEX Gunworks 223 AI

I bought this several years back but haven’t taken it out yet. I bought it from a guy in northern CO. He shot some matches with it and used it as a practice rifle. Can’t remember the round count but I believe it was in the 800s. He said it still shot very well. Don’t have any load data.

It’s in a bergara action and chassis. 7 twist. 28” long. A heavy barrel contour. 5/8 24 thread. The scope, mounts and bipod are not included.

Firearms Aero Solus .478 barreled action with Proof Carbon Barrel

The action has seen 0 rounds, will come with original box + original accessories. .478 bolt face.

The barrel is a proof research carbon prefit, sandero profile 20in chambered in .308 1/10 twist. The barrel has seen 150 rounds.

Barrel came off of my other rifle but ended up dumping a lot on my tikka that’s also chambered in .308

Had plans on making this sort of a shorty .308 but not ready to go through the build process at the moment on the solus.

Night Vision Surplus Thermal Sights from XM-8 project

I've got some rare/unusual thermal sights that were developed for the HK XM-8 carbine. These have QD 1913 rail bases attached so are suitable for pretty much anything Pic based.

I have one Raytheon Close Quarters Thermal Sight System. The only thermal I've seen with a green phosphor screen rather than B/W. This sight also comes equipped with a 3A (3mw) IR laser pointer. $3000 Front left in pic below

I have three Insight CQX-002's. These have an amber filter for the ocular to minimize back splash on the shooters face. $3100ea Front right and two rear still in the case.

These have the original factory hard cases, soft cases, manuals and QR cards. All have been tested for proper operation, but they are pretty much unused, though the cases show wear from transport. Trades for 9mm, 38Spl and .357 ammo work for the owner as well. Other trades possible.

Lyman / Mark 7 Apex 10

Anyone have one of these? I'm shooting more and more and while I love reloading I am trying to streamline things for time saving purposes.

I am currently loading on a Dillon 650 (which I would probably keep as I have multiple toolheads / case feeder etc etc and I could use it for little jobs) but the Apex 10 is a pretty awesome piece of kit and has enough stations that there are no compromises (swaging / powder check / separate seating & crimping which from what I have read is deffo the way to go).

I watched some videos and the Apex is pretty involved to switch calibers so I would only do that to do a large volume . This press would be setup almost exclusively for loading 9mm, maybe once a year I would switch toolheads to process - ie decap / size / swage - pre cleaned 9mm brass before cleaning it again (I know it is two passes but it keeps all the crap away from the press and the loaded ammo doesn't have lube on it). Bulk 223 would be the same deal.

I would be purchasing this and running manually initially to get it setup / get a feel for it with a view to automating. I would add the suite of sensors as that is part of the attraction (swage sense / primer orientation etc etc).

My questions to anyone who has the Apex 10:

1) My main question is how has the priming system performed? I have read a LOT of reviews and the one negative thing I kept seeing was priming issues - I know not everyone is mechanically minded so that could be a factor but if its going to be a heart break I don't want it.

2) Did you get the digital powder measure? If so how has it performed?

3) My current presses live in my unheated garage but I figure the Apex 10 with all the extra tech / gadgetry really needs to live somewhere more hospitable / heated - where does yours live at and how has the reliability been?

4) What dies are you using? FW Arms seem to be the go to for this machine - anyone running these?

Lyman / Mark 7 are working on another new press which is pretty revolutionary (Genesys) and I am keeping an eye on that but they have been saying it is just about to be released now for some time which makes me nervous (hopefully they are getting the final gremlins ironed out and it will be awesome). It is more of a out of the box solution with everything included and a bunch of new technology (separate motors for indexing / moving the toolhead etc etc) as opposed to the Apex 10 which is more of an regular / proven design where you can start basic (ie manually) and add tech until you are fully automated. The Genesys cannot be run manually which is a downside for me (if the press is doing something funky it is good to be able to run it manually to aid in troubleshooting).
