New to ELR, need help with Cheytac M200 Intervention scope, mount, and zero.

I'm new to ELR, so please be gentle... with that being said, I recently traded for a Cheytac M200 Intervention in .408 caliber and I need some help.

CheyTac's M200 Intervention website says this rifle has a "40 MOA" rail built in.
I purchased a Spuhr 1.18" 0 MIL/0 MOA mount, and a Vortex Razor HD 3-36.
The Razor says it has a max of 36.1 MRAD of elevation adjustment.

Today I fired my first round through the M200. I dialed my scope all the way down, used the zero stop to attempt to zero the rifle at 100 yards... (because that's what I've always done)... and I can't get the scope to travel far enough to be able to zero at 100 yards.

Can someone explain to me how to resolve this situation. Do I need a different mount? Does the built in rail have too much cant for this scope? Would a higher mount like a 1.5" mount make any difference? I'd like to have enough elevation travel to take 1 mile shots at a later date with this setup.

Ammo is DesertTech .408 CT, 2760 fps, BC: G1 .983, 400 grain.

Thanks for reading and hopefully I can get some information to make a more informed decision on how to fix my issue.

Trimming Brass. how far to trim?

I have been working on Lad Dev for my 6.5CM.
Figured the CM was the easy button as some say to get my process down correctly so I know what I am doing for other rifles.
Right now I have some loaded up to find my charge weight. Then plan to tweak seating depths.

My question is on trimming the brass to length.
I have about 15 cases roughly that are at 1.922 in length. Max case length by my book shows to be 1.920.
Bought a trimmer as it was one piece of gear I did not have yet.
My question is how far back to trim?
In looking it looks like Min case length is 1.910 Max is 1.920.
Should I just split the difference and go to 1.915?

Its not great brass (Hornaday) but its all I have right now for my CM.
I also do not anneal if that makes a difference.
At least I dont yet.

New virgin brass vs new factory ammo vs 1x fired brass

Hey all,

I'm starting this discussion to see if I can spark some conversation and maybe gather input from those who have been reloading for longer.

Why is virgin brass tougher (in general when compared against fireformed or 1x brass) to get grouping small vs brass that's been shot already and you are reloading?

I've been loading 1x fired brass for my creedmoor and almost any load I throw at it does pretty well. I've been loading virgin brass on my grendel and can't seem to get consistently good ammo. It could also mean my grendel barrels just aren't accurate or my creedmoor components are much higher quality so naturally they'll group better.

However, in general, we always hear that virgin brass should not be used to do full on load development as it will not give the best results like fireformed brass.

This brings me to my next topic. Why is factory new ammo very tight shooting if it is using virgin brass. Obviously not all factory ammo shoots very tight but many offerings are shooting sub moa consistently.

A few examples include:
-Fgmm for 308
-Hornady match in 140s & 147s for CM
-Berger ammo for 6 or 6.5 CM
-The old prime ammo across various platforms
-sig ammo

And the list could go on.

It will be interesting to hear what the hide has to say. One more thing to note. I believe my grendel loads on virgin brass are giving me trouble when the bullet is released due to no carbon build up in the ID of the case necks. This is all speculation on my part though. The brass is also about 8 to 12 thousands short in the headspace department.

now have a MEC press

after seeing how well the MEC press worked I just had to have one . it is taking the place on the bench of a rcbs JR . after having the press I found out
the Hornady lock an load quick die change bushing could replace the bushing that came with. did not know I could do that when I had ordered the press. win win .

by chance its there a place I could send the RCBS JR press to get it machine to accept the Hornaday lock and load die holder?

Accessories WTS: BNIB Shield Arms GLOCK G43X/48 S15 Carry Magwell & Standard (Ambidextrous) Mag Catch Sets

Hello Fellow Hiders' -

I have two BNIB Shield Arms GLOCK G43X/48 S15 Black anodized Carry Magwells & two steel Standard (Ambidextrous) Mag Catches in Black Nitride for sale. I'm selling them in Sets (one [1] Carry Magwell & one [1] steel Standard (Ambidextrous) Mag Catch). I have two (2) Sets available at $80.00/each SHIPPED USPS Priority Mail Small Flat Rate Box in CONUS.

The S15 Carry Magwell guides the mag in fast and covers the characteristic hole behind the magazine well on GLOCKs' while being low profile. IMHO, it's just nicer than a Pearce Grip Plug while adding the magwell function.

The Standard Mag Catch is ambidextrous, allowing it to be mounted in the Frame with the Button on the LEFT Side or the RIGHT Side. For example, with the "button" oriented on the LEFT Side of the Frame, a shooter shooting Right-handed ejects the mag with RIGHT THUMB, while a shooter shooting Left-handed ejects mag with LEFT INDEX FINGER. Conversely, with the "button" oriented on the LEFT Side of the Frame, a shooter shooting Left-handed ejects the mag with LEFT THUMB, while a shooter shooting Right-handed ejects mag with RIGHT INDEX FINGER. Hopefully you follow that.

Shield Arms sells the Carry Magwell for $75.00, with the Standard Mag Catch running $12.00 so that's $87.00 before Shipping ($10.00). Get a Carry Magwell & a Standard Mag Catch for $80.00 Shipped USPS SFRB (Small Flat Rate Box)! See photos below, and thanks for looking!

$80.00 SHIPPED USPS Small Flat Rate Box in CONUS PAID WITH ZELLE OR PAYPAL F & F, OR $83.00 PAYPAL G & S.

6.5 PRC appropriate action length

So I’m finding out the hard way that 6.5prc needs to be in something longer than a short action to load the heavier bullets at the length they need.
I’m hesitant to go to long action for fear of feeding problems. What do you all think about the Tikka action, being somewhere between LA and SA. Does it have enough space after changing the bolt stop, bolt face, and screwing on a prefit?
Thanks for the help all.

I’ve really enjoyed running this Overt Industries 11.5 Suppressor Dedicated upper. You can run it as hard or fast as you like (I’ve run the GMR SS on it without issue), and have very minimal gas blowback. Overt isn’t the only game in town…I also really liked my Sionics 11.5 ERGP barrel. Of course, you can accomplish a similar result with flow through cans, AGB gas blocks, etc, but there’s something to be said for simplicity. What do you think?
