Sendit Ballistics updated

Good Morning. I'm getting back into shooting after a bit of a hiatus (2 new kids and starting a new business). As part of that I decided to update my ballistics calculator.

It's called "Sendit Ballistics" and is available on the Apple store. Free out to 500 meters.

When I first made the app I got some great advice and help from Sniper's Hide members, so I wanted to put it up again and see if y'all have any thoughts on what is desired. My intent is for it to be very simple and usable in the field. Thanks and happy hunting!

Anyone got a Ruger Precision Rifle in .223/5.56 accuracy questions.

So I'm wanting to pick up a bolt action .223/5.56 for just plinking around and target shooting. I have tons of ammo and reloading supplies for 5.56 so it only makes sense. I have plenty of ARs but really want a super accurate bolt gun. I picked up a Ruger precision 22lr and I'm super impressed with it I can shoot blades of grass and small twigs in half with it, Just the other day I had to shoot my drone out of a tree. So im hoping this follows suit and the big guns are just as accurate.

Ive googled and seen the reviewers but most of these reviewers cant shoot good groups at least what i consider good groups, and they are using store bought ammo. Im hoping someone on here is a better shot and uses hand loaded ammo. To see what the true accuracy of these guns are, Im looking for a gun that can do 1 hole punches at 100 yards or at least have all 3 bullet holes touching.

Thanks all for any an all info, BTW im open to other suggestions I would like to keep it under $1500 for this one, I'm saving up for that sweet sweet 50bmg by the end of the year hopefully!

Thanks all,

Shadowlid

Night Vision IR laser with Clip on

Setting up a night rifle and have a question about IR lasers with a clip on thermal.

I’m running a UTM on a riser in front of a NXS 1-8 both at 1.93” height.

IMG_3993.jpeg

For those running similar setups, will an ATPIAL mounted on the top rail be so high that it will occlude too much of the thermal objective?

If it does, would a better solution be to run the ATPIAL at the 3 o’clock position, or would a MAWL be a better solution than running the side mounted ATPIAL?

Thanks!

Gen 2 Ruger 22 arc is amazing!!!!

Against my better judgement, I loaded up Hornady brass, with 80 eld… usually use better brass and sierra or berger but tried this being cheap.

Rifle is in a magpul hunter with a 2 stage timney. I shot 3 groups before this one, all under 1”. Then get to 28.4gr of varget, first 2 shots are same hole. I even questioned if 2nd shot was on paper. 3rd shot, and I knew I pulled it low, moved ever so slightly and saw the center dot dip down as I broke the trigger…. Sucks.

Shots 4 and 5 back in the same hole as 1 and 2.

2900 fps.

This thing rocks. I wanted bravo stock but Amazon had the magpul on sale for $160…. Can’t say no to that.

Bucket list gun acquired, Lee Speed. An interesting one

It's had to have been reblued. Which is probably why the price wasn't bad, but the typical leaf rear sight isn't on there. Its got an aperture sight that folds out and up. I'm not sure if they hot blued and the solder on the rear let go, but there's no sign of ever having a rear sight on the barrel.

The engraving on the top cover is also something I've not seen on one before. It says "W.J. Jeffrey & co 13.King Street St. James London SW" I've seen one other dust cover so far and the writing was stamped, this isn't as neatly done. The forearm is also lesser quality than the rear, but has the brass dowel like the other I've seen and the narrow taper to the front.

I also just noticed the barrel is Hella long compared to my other Lee. I can't find a tape but it's close to 28 inches by the looks of it.

Either way I'm happy, I've wanted one since I was a kid. Here's some pics. I'm still wondering, the F did I find?

Rifle Scopes Glassaholic's History of Reviews

At the risk of sounding a bit self-aggrandizing I have been asked by more than a few Hide members over the years to let them know where they can go to read other reviews I have posted, I suppose some may be genuine while others are simply looking for a good read to help put them to sleep at night. It's quite possible I missed a few reviews here and there but this is what I came up with in my search, I tried to order them somewhat chronologically so if you start at the top and work your way down you hopefully see an improvement in my review methodology as well as my communication skills. I have tried different rating systems over the years and all have come up short and have led some to misunderstandings so I'm trying not so much to do "ratings" but provide thoughts and opinions while sharing where my bias leads. I do have a methodology for testing attributes of a scope and I provide a numerical value based on what I see and provide that as a gauge; however, these values are based on the conditions of that day and the specific scope and setup so should not be taken as a hard-fast rule.

My goal with this thread is to track it and update it, I've been providing reviews on the Hide for a decade now which seems so long yet feels so short. I'm not getting any younger and the reviews take an enormous amount of prep work and time without any monetary benefit so I will likely be slowing down somewhat, I suppose I could have been one of those "YouTuber's" but I don't like the sound of my own voice and for reasons revealed in 2020 and since there has been a huge anti-2A shift in the USA which has shut down the sites and voices of many, so for the most part I have remained relatively anonymous (a few years ago I changed my username for this reason), but whether it's old age or stubbornness I'm beginning to not care so much so maybe at some point I may try to venture out into the vast "aether"net. At the time of this post I am not sponsored or paid by anyone, I do have some relationships with higher ups at a few sport optics companies but outside of that I get nothing but the satisfaction of knowing I'm helping a few of you who are in the market for a scope but are unable to get your hands on them personally. If you appreciate the work I've done and know anyone within the industry who may benefit from "honest" reviews of sport optics feel free to PM me.

(If you have recommendations on other optics I would be open to that, but these seem to get the most comments about different experiences between different samples).
  • Considering a budget class scope review if enough interest: Strike Eagle, Match Pro ED, Arken, DNT, Athlon. Maybe a Leupold Mark 4HD 8-32x56 and DNT to see how this "budget" but higher end optic compares. Use Vortex RG3 6-36 as baseline.
