Is there a gray area between a SBR & a Pistol or is the definition cut & dried?

I am considering a suppressed 338 ARC as a deer hunting firearm. Sticky point per state game laws is the ammo in a shoulder held firearm is required to use ammo that produces 1000 ft pounds at the muzzle. Whereas a hand gun is only required to use ammo that produces 500 ft pounds at the muzzle. This may suggest that I may not use subsonic ammo from a shoulder held 338 ARC though the same subsonic ammo is perfectly acceptable from a hand gun.

What is the difference technically between a 12" SBR & a 12" hand gun? Same question applies weather I am asking about a bolt action firearm or an AR.

Firearms Sako TRG-22 308win

Don't want to, but need to free up some funds for another project.

Selling a Sako TRG-22 in 308win with a 26" barrel. I bought it used, original owner said they shot it around 200rds. I put 15rds through it. Shoots great and with the muzzle brake it's very soft recoil. Will come with a Cadex MX1 muzzle brake. It is the phosphate version and should have a ton of life left. I took it out today and tried a group at 110yds with what I had left of a partial box of FGMM 168gr.

Asking $2,500

Maven, Leupold, Trijicon, NF

Looking for my first high end scope. Want to keep it to these 4 brands, been down a ton of rabbit holes already but have it narrowed down. I would consider myself a mid range shooter in the 300-500 range, with longest take on a deer being 700. So 7-800 yards is important. This is an out west gun where I have never shot anything under 300yds. Light properties are important, along with clarity and durability. We do a lot of turret work so that important.

These are all the same price relatively, with the Maven on the low end and the NF on the higher end.

Maven RS.5 maybe RS.3, 4-24x50
Trijicon Tenmile HX 5-25x50
Leupold VX5HD 4-20x52
NF NX8 4-32x50

Maven and Trijicon both have a 56mm reticle that looks attractive as well.

Sort of hesitant on boutique brands like Maven, only been around 10 years, long term warranty claims. NF almost falls into that, as well as being heavier and people not liking the reticle. Ive read some of the zero issues with Leupold, but dont know how much stock to put into it. The one brand I have not any rumor mill stuff from is trijicon

GOD BARRELS AND TRASHMUNITION

I have three rifles which exhibit these traits at 100 meters…

1) An Accuracy International Dave Tooley barrel that shoots bugholes (this one performs really well out to 400 meters, I’ll be really sad when I finally shoot the worth out of it) with Cheaper than Dirt “XM80CS Bulk Ammunition” from grud knows when,

2) A Steyr AUG with one of the newer 20”, 1/7, 1/2-28 barrels that gets me 1 - inch groups using bulk Green Tips also from Cheaper Than Dirt (Sandy Hook era) with the Donut of Death reticle,

3) An AR-15 with a 20” White Oak Armament 1/8 barrel that gets me 2” groups using the above trashmunition.

Has anybody figured out what causes the stars to align and yield such results with ammunition that should be in the dumpster? :ROFLMAO:

All of my other rifles, both cheap and pricey, yield dinner plate groups with the above.

Probably a rhetorical question, but I thought I’d ask :ROFLMAO:

No response to that thread. Can someone please confirm that this is by design?

PS: I did submit a ticket to Zeiss as per @DeathBeforeDismount ’s suggestion. But it’d be a relief to find out before Monday.
