SOLD Vortex Impact 4000

Vortex Impact 4000 $1250 shipped and insured. SOLD
Comes with original packaging, including zero targets and and everything pictured, the only items missing are the velcro tabs (loop), microfiber cloth, and T10 Tool (still looking for it). Im providing a Holosun T10 Tool as a replacement until I find the tool, never took it out of the gun room. The velcro tabs were all used, for some reason they didnt work as well as normal velcro loop tape (which I will provide 2 strips). Pic, keymod, and mLok attachments were never used or mounted.

Had this for a little over a year, seen a few matches but always took care of it. Only installed the battery before use, and removed after. The marks on the bolts are from my torque wrench (its a tight fit).

I accept most digital forms of payment, and we can discuss payment options if necessary.

I will ship USPS Priority, unless requested otherwise (pay the difference).

Please PM me first before posting to avoid scammers contacting you. Ill go by the timestamp in the messages of who is first if this is a hot item. haha.

Tikka T3 barrel removal.

Some take aways after struggling with a tikka barrel. I have tried several different methods over a period of days, and I understand what works now. There really is a process and if you don't follow it there will be a struggle, or worse, a broken action and or marred finish. Follow this and you probably won't have to do a relief cut. I know there are some threads on this but here you go anyhow.

1. have the correct tools for the job. I would not rely on an internal action wrench, try to get a hold of an action wrench like the wheeler #1, that has a big flat area to grab lots of surface on the Tikka actions. a rubber or plastic mallet is a must. The addition of a cheater bar and barrel vise are going to be key. Get some powder resin, this will be important for the barrel vice to get the right amount of grip.

2. Take your time, meaning get things set up correctly. Use some WD40 and shoot plenty of it around the inside of the barrel where it meets the action, let the barrel sit for a day or two with the barrel pointing down so the oil sinks into the action threads. It will penetrate given enough time. This stage is crucial as the oil will allow the threads to break free. This step will make your life a lot easier, trust me.... once I had my action free I could see the oil had penetrated all the way through. Prior to this step it was nearly impossible getting the action off.

3. Use a generous amount of resin inside the barrel vise surface, and make sure to tighten the barrel vice down with as much force as possible, it must be very tight, as tight as possible. A little painters tape or even duct tape on the contacting surface might help prevent some marring, but if done correctly marring will be avoided.

4. Once barrel is in vice and action wrench is torqued on to action, try torquing the action off, some good taps from a mallet on the action wrench where it meets the action while working the action wrench handle will provide some shock to knock things loose. Do not go with powerful whacks, this is over doing it. If the action is not budging try this with the addition of a cheater bar. If the barrel is rotating in the vice, it's too lose and needs further tightening. If it's tight and you follow these steps the action/barrel will separate.

Good luck and may the Schwartz be with you!

Terminus Actions

Most of you know that I separated myself from another custom action company because I was unwilling to compromise on my demanding standards and fundamental business practices. I played key roles in that business that included designing actions to being solely responsible for making the original designs marketable, to handling customer service.
Since my separation, I have spent a considerable amount of time and resources designing a new line of actions which are now being marketed under the Terminus brand.
My original designs were successful, so it was an easy decision to improve upon them and eliminate a few known design flaws. I was able to accomplish this task by making both dimensional and engineering changes to key areas both on the bolt and the receiver. The first Terminus prototypes were close, but still exhibited some minor issues in the areas that I was targeting improvement. The second prototype proved to be much better and met my standard. Field testing was concluded and the results exceeded my expectations.
The Terminus design offers a refined 3 lug action that is sure to please the most discriminating shooter. I am confident Terminus will define excellence not just in products, but in operation. I personally guarantee my products, and guarantee an exceptional customer experience and service.

I am both grateful and humbled to have such an incredibly talented Team that has been diligently working with me to accomplish our mission. I’m confident with this team comprised of Special Operations Professionals, LE Professionals, competitive shooters, custom rifle builders, and industry leaders, that Terminus will join the ranks with other successful custom actions in the market.

Terminus Action Review / Observations

Hi All,
Just wanted to post about my experience with a Terminus Apollo action that I'm about to list on an auction website.

After having a couple rifles built on Remington 700 actions that worked very well, I decided to move up to a custom action. I looked at BAT, Stiller, Defiance, and Terminus. When it came down to it, I wanted an action that already came from the factory with a nitride finish, and with the high lead times and cost, I settled on Terminus. I also liked the idea of their threaded trigger pins.

I had a well-known gunsmith install a Krieger barrel into the action, chambered for .308 Win. Pretty standard set-up. What could go wrong?

The fit of the bolt to the action was OK, a little looser than I was expecting, and it seemed only slightly, if at all, tighter than a factory Remington. As soon as I got the barreled action back from the gunsmith I attempted to assemble it into the Manners stock. My stock has the integral mini chassis for use with AI or Magpul magazines. That's when I ran into the first two problems.

1. The magazines would not go in far enough to lock in. Neither Accurate, AI, or Magpul mags would go in without a LOT of force and wiggling. At first I thought there was something wrong with the stock, chassis, or magazine catch, so I installed a factory Remington 700 action into it to verify, and the magazines went in fine. So, I figure the cut-out on the bottom of the action was not deep enough. I emailed Terminus and was told they are made to the same spec as Remington. (Which may be their intention, but I doubt it's the case on my action.) I ended up removing about .020" from the top of the mag catch, which allowed the magazines to lock in. That's when I encountered problem #2.

2. I use Accurate, AI, and Magpul magazines. My preference is Magpul because they are inexpensive and don't scratch my brass. (Like many of you here, I reload and I like my handloads to look like they were made in a professional manner). With the bolt back, I could insert a Magpul magazine, but the bolt was hitting the feedlips when I closed the bolt. It worked fine with the metal magazines, however. So, again, I put a Remington action into the stock to verify that the problem was the Terminus Action. I ended up filing about .020" off of the feedlips from the Magpul magazines. in order to make them work.

So, by this point I've had to modify the magazine catch and magazines in order to work with the Terminus action. Now I was ready to go to the range.
That's where I encountered problem #3.

3. Every few shots, when ejecting the spent case, it would barely clear the ejection port, falling out right next to the gun, sometimes falling back into the action, while other cases were ejected a foot or so away. When I contacted my gunsmith, I was told to send the entire gun in. After having the gun for a little while they called me. During the conversation, I came to believe they were blaming the problem on empty cases hitting my scope knobs, and getting kicked off the bolt face before they could be freely ejected. Well, I'm sure no one is using Terminus actions without a scope, and since Terminus could have probably positioned the ejector and extractor however they saw fit, and probably in a way to not allow empty cases to hit the scope knobs, I don't think this is OK. But, since I had another scope with different eye relief, I figured I'd swap scopes out to see if that would solve the problem. This lead me to problem #4.

4. I swapped a Leupold scope out for a Bushnell. This put the scope knob in a different position above the ejection port. After shooting about 50 rounds, still having the ejection issue, I removed the scope and found anodizing chipped away on the bottom of the windage knob. The scope was fine before this trip to the range.

So, I brought the barreled action to a local gunshop, and asked if they could just remove the barrel so I could sell the action. The person I spoke to mentioned a similar situation with a Terminus action magazine cut-out.

I know a lot of you have had good luck with various actions, including Terminus, but the most accurate rifle I own shoots like a laser, and is built on a trued Remington action.

Just wanted to express my experience. What has yours been?
Thanks for reading my post.

AL DMR Match

Hello,

I've been able to take over as a match director for a local club in Alabama at Brock's Gap Training Center. We've had the match for about 2-3 years and folks seem to enjoy it as we've seen numbers increase from the 4 shooters we had at the first match to around 25.

Just wanted to welcome competitors to the match. I'm going to do my best to run the match efficiently and let me know if you have any questions.
