Clone the Clone: IMI 77gr Razor Core

IMI 77gr SMK Razor Core is some great shooting factory ammo. I haven't loaded 5.56 in 15yrs but saved my IMI brass. Gave it a go with the following best performing powders: (Velocities and group sizes practically identical to IMI 77SMK Razor Core)

WOA 18" SPR
2-10X36 Trijicon Credo in ARC rings

Bullet: 77SMK
Powder TAC @24.2gr
Case: IMI 1X
Primer: CCI 41
COAL: 2.255
MV: 2712fps SD: 16fps (IMI was 2711fps SD:15fps)
Temp: 66F.
Ele: 750ft
Group: .53MOA 10 shot
Neck Tens: .0035

Bullet: 77SMK
Powder: N135 @23.7gr
Case: IMI 1X
Primer: CCI 41
COAL: 2.255
MV: 2716fps SD: 7
Temp: 66F.
Ele: 750ft
Group: .54 MOA 10 shot
Neck Tens: .0035

Notes:
N135 was nice surprise. I haven't read much on the powder for 77SMK. 23.7gr gave a bit of ejector shine, but so does IMI.
IMI ammo was COAL: 2.245. I need to load these two loads at that 2.245 COAL and see what happens.
The neck tension on my loads seemed/felt tight. I will get a .0015 larger mandrel and test again.
Trijicon Credo. Man, what a neat little scope. That thing banging out these groups makes me happy.
I learned I can swage/cut the primer crimp from the primer pockets with a VLD chamfer tool. So damn handy!

When you think quality Thermals, Think Armasight

Why Thermal Imaging Is a Game-Changer - Thermal imaging isn’t just fancy tech. It’s a practical tool for individuals who need to see clearly in complete darkness or tough conditions. It detects heat signatures and turns them into clear visuals, including situations like fog and smoke. Armasight’s thermal optics are built to perform in any situation, giving you the ability to spot wildlife or identify threats from a distance. Armasight’s thermal optics excel at this. With long-range detection and adaptability to harsh environments, their optics are perfect for tasks like search and rescue, tactical missions, or recreational use.

What Makes Thermal Imaging Work? - Thermal imaging captures infrared radiation, which is essentially heat and converts this radiation into a visual image. These images can be adjusted with various color settings, helping you identify targets or features more easily. Whether you prefer the target detect setting to spot heat sources quickly or grayscale for subtle details, our thermal devices adapt to your needs. You’ll also find features like digital zoom, video recording, and reticle customization that add to their functionality.

The Collector 640's compact and lightweight design keeps your favorite .223/.556, rimfire, airgun, or crossbow nimble and responsive, and the Collector’s capabilities are optimized for use at the ranges these platforms are normally used. This unit boasts the ArmaCORE™ 640 thermal core, fast 60Hz frame rate for smooth operation and industry-best, outstanding visual acuity, based on Armasight’s Iron Wolf thermal technology platform. An extensive suite of features includes video and image capture, USB video stream, USB-C interface for viewing your recordings and photos on external devices such as computers or televisions. The Collector 640 offers multiple color palettes, intuitive simple 3 button controls, multiple reticle types and colors, and long battery life.

Accessories - Armasight's got you covered with accessories like the MNVD / Sidekick Helmet Mount, modular bridge mounts, and replacement eyecups. These extras ensure your gear is always ready to perform.

Practical Benefits You’ll Love
See Through Obstructions: Whether it’s smoke, fog, or total darkness, thermal imaging doesn’t let anything stand in your way. You’ll detect heat signatures clearly, no matter the environment.

50 BMG Question

OK, looking to get a stoopid rifle. I've had three different 50s over the years, I always say it's my "shitty girlfriend that I that I know I'm better off without, but I always keep her number in my phone....". Every time I sell a 50 I swear it's my last one, but I still keep all the ammo.

In the past I started with a single shot from a company called VM Hy-Tech, then onto a Barret M99 and finally a Windrunner. All 3 long gone in exchange for the next shiny object.

Until a few days ago I was pretty set on a M107a1, because what's better than a suppressible semi-auto??? This (and all my previous 50s) are just for fun. Nothing else I've ever take a group of people out to shoot has made everyone smile more than a 50. It makes everyone giggle like a school girl.

But after looking around, there are some really interesting 50s out there. I want to go with a repeater, but certainly doesn't have to be semi auto.

I did some internet searching, but this isn't a popular topic for comparisons. Therefore I was hoping enough people here have shot or owned 50s and can give me their experience and opinion.

I have the following list of candidates:

Barrett M107a1
Barrett M95
McMillan TAC50-C
Cadex Tremor 50
Steyr HS50
AI AW50 (if one comes up that's reasonable)

There is also Desert Tech, which I'm not too hot on. But if enough people said it was the shit, I would also consider it.

Thanks.

Home dog euthanasia

So I've got a setter that's 16 and a half years old. His quality of life is getting pretty bad. Doesn't want to walk, getting really wasted looking. Thing is he still eats and tries to take bones from my 3 year old lol.

Took him to the vet today thinking he's got cancer or kidney failure and would be putting him down. Nope. Labs are all fine, prostate, fine, lungs fine, abdomen fine. He's just tired.

Decided instead to try him on a couple weeks of Galliprant. Even bought him some cbd gummies to encourage him to eat more and help with pain when he walks.

It's probably stupid to do, and I sure don't want to be cruel to him. I just thought I'd give him a fighting chance and see if I can improve his quality of life. If he's not improving, I'll put him down, which brings me to my question. Is there any reliable home brew method to euthanize a dog other than a bullet or an injection? I wish I could feed him a bunch of morphine and let him just drift off to sleep. He's terrified of the vet's office and I don't want him living his last moments in fear. There's a couple at-home euthanasia services around here, which I'll probably go with, but thought I'd ask if there are any alternatives.

Suppressors YHM Resonator K 30

Does anyone here own one of these that can share their likes or dislikes with this suppressor? Repeatable poi shift with the factory QD mount?

I have and am happy with my SF Socom 2 Mini. It does everything I need it to do. I need another 308 can that will run on a 16” MWS, 18” rifle gas 6.5 Grendel, and 16” 556 middy but Im being cheap and looking at the YHM Resonator K. Size and low back pressure are the main criteria. If you look at the Pew Science back pressure chart, the Resonator compares well to the SF Mini and even outperforms the Huxworks Flow Ti on back pressure.

What says The Hide?

Barrel Profile Discussion

I have a 6ARC with a 24" barrel on it. It's an AR platform.

It does shoot fine. No real problems with it, but I have been thinking about changing it up some. Basically put, I have been thinking about maybe going to a 20" or something like that. By the time you add a suppressor the OAL is pretty long. I got that barrel near the introduction of the 6ARC so I was kind of flying blind picking out what I thought I wanted.

My wallet starts to get scared when I start pondering 'options' but here it goes again. My general question is about the benefits of maybe getting a fatter profile or some variation of that. The gas block on the rifle right now is .750, but I am not opposed to going up to.875 if needed.

I am just getting started but on something like this I try to be more thoughtful vs just winging it and hoping for the best.

I am talking about ARs, but the questions in my head are a lot more generic as it pertains to the pros and cons of contours on actual shooting.

If you have any ideas, thoughts, or relevant comments please help me learn something.
