.338 random questions

I got a couple of random questions of the .338 cal. I wasn't sure exactly where to put them, but I have them in mind for a bolt action so I put them here.

I'm basically a noob learning about reloading so I have limited understanding but I'm trying to put it all together.

A .308 win can be loaded subsonic and many but not all seem to think it's adequate, so why is it so hard to load a .338 fed subsonic? I'm asking because that doesn't make sense to me with the facts l (think) l know.

1. Same basic case l believe
2. Can get up to 300 gr bullets
3. People complain of having way too much case capacity in .308. Doable but on the edge. My understanding is that's with the large trail boss powder.
4. The larger 2-300 gr .338 bullets should only help in that regard.

What am l missing? It seems like this would be the perfect cartridge for a short range super/sub gun.

Also with the same idea in mind

How good is an 8.6 blk supersonic? Is it anywhere near the 338 Federal? How about the 308 Win? I can't find much info on that. I thought I remember hearing that it was supposed to be good. Super and subsonic but maybe I remember wrong. Just a sub caliber?

Looking for a specific style scope need help finding

Hi everyone. I hope this is in the correct section. I have an oddball project i am working on currently and i am looking for help finding a LPVO for my rifle but the way the mounting situation is the turrets can not be in the middle of the scope. If you look at the turret location on an a2 carry handle scope they are at the rear of the optic. I am looking for that style of turret location. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Krieger AR-15 Barrels: A Quick Look

Krieger AR-15 Barrels: A Quick Look

krieger_barrel_stamp-2679397.jpg

I typically purchase my stainless steel Krieger AR-15 barrels directly from Krieger Barrels, Inc and have them do the chamber, port and finish etc. Krieger utilizes a four land/groove arrangement and it is known by many that Krieger’s single point cut rifling is superb. Krieger’s 416 stainless steel barrels receive an in-house cryogenic treatment are twice hand-lapped; once after reaming and again after rifling. The .224” Krieger AR-15 barrels have a land to land diameter of 0.218” which reportedly helps maintain accuracy for longer intervals in between cleaning.

I’ve owned 16”, 20” and 24” Krieger AR-15 barrels. I’ve owned Krieger AR-15 barrels with 1:9” twists and 1:7.7” twists. I’ve owned Krieger AR-15 barrels with 223 Remington and 5.56 Match chambers. Every Krieger AR-15 barrel that I’ve owned has produced 10-shot groups with extreme spreads of less than ¾ MOA.
